Scalloped Cups

Firstly, thank you to all those who have sent messages regarding the passing of my Father in Law – they are much appreciated and each one of them touches us deeply.

I have a few cards I’ve made lately that I havent shared yet so hopefully I can be more consistent and get back to the blogging and sharing of my work.

Today’s card is one I made a few weeks back and not only is it another Queasy card but its also a very cute little card. Wouldnt this be a great card to invite friends over for coffee or to meet at your favourite coffee shop?

I know youre thinking … not again .. not those cups!!  Sorry but I just love this set so much and I love the Sweet and Sour Specialty Designer Series Paper – they both seem to just go so well together!

This is a simple little card and I’ve used the Scallop Square die to  cut the card base. I pop in a folded card and make sure the fold line is inside the scallops on one side so its not cut through and there you have an instant scallop square card!

I just then added the layers and I find its good practice to add a white layer if you want to ‘lift’ a particular layer and give a card some depth.

I’ve simply stamped the cup stack on a piece of whisper white and coloured the cups in the colours used in the Sweet and Sour Specialty DSP pack.

Now people often ask me why I dont do inserts for cards and my answer to this is that I dont really think they need them. If you use a dark card as your base you can always write inside the card with one of our lovely White Gel pens and when using lighter coloured cardstock you can use a regular pen or even one of our Stampin Write Markers (the fine tip obviously) as you can use a complimentary colour and shows just how colour coordinated you really are!

In saying that I have popped a sweet little insert into this little card …

I have a few different ideas on how to use our scalloped square and circle dies with the Big Shot and if you’d like me to show you how why not contact me today to book your workshop in and dont forget our “Last Chance” list will be available 1st August so you’ll want to have a workshop so you can get all those retiring stamps and accessories before its too late and earn some free products at the same time!

Book your August workshop in by 18th July and receive a bonus Ink Pad when you hold your workshop (conditions apply)

Growing Green

I had all good intentions to get this card done and the posted before lunch today however when hubby asks “Did you want to go to Officeworks?” well you dont ask why you just ‘do’!

Here is this week’s Utah Divas Sketch ..

I’ve known what stamp set I’ve wanted to use for this sketch all week but just wasnt sure on what colours to use.  Now I just didnt know what colours to use and thought I could use the Sweet n Sour DSP but think I’ve over used it with the Diva sketches and needed a change and I then thought “Oh I’ll use the Colour Coach”!

The Colour Coach has to be one of the most underrated tools in our Idea Book & Catalogue and I should share it more at my workshops.

It has a swatch for every colour we have in the Catalogue and its all held together by a metal post so when the new In Colours come out in September you can just add them in.

There are cards up the front that tell you how colours work and how you should choose the right colours to go together.

Now on the back of the swatches there is something special …

I dare say this is ‘why’ it was given the name of  ‘Colour Coach’!  Just look at all the choices you get!

There’s a Creative Combination and a Getting Started Combination as well as a Dynamic Duo – now there is one of these combinations on the back over every colour swatch.

How good is that? You’ll never be stuck for a colour combination again! Now did you know this is not only available to Demonstrators? its available to purchase from the Idea Book & Catalogue for just AU$28.95.

The colour I wanted to use was Pretty in Pink for the flower so I pulled out that card in my Colour Coach and went with the Creative Combination of Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery and Bashful Blue.

I even went as far as to use the Dynamic Duo colour of Melon Mambo for my sentiment.

Here is my card …

I just love how this card turned out and really wondering why I havent used this Stamp Set before now? needless to say you will see quite a few more cards using this set in the future.

I do hope you like what I’ve done with this sketch and the colour combination and if you’d like to order a Colour Coach or the Growing Green stamp set then please feel free to drop me a line or give me a call.

Now dont forget what the other Designing Diva’s have created with this sketch and there are links on the Utah Divas Blog and the next blog to visit is the lovely Ruthie B and just keep following the links till you get back to here – dont forget to leave a comment for each of the Divas cos we all just lurv comments :)

Perfectly Plum for Mum

With just 11 days left of March Sale•A•Bration I thought it was a good opportunity to share a card I cased from the lovely LeeAnn Gref - she makes some very lovely cards.

As soon as I saw this card I knew I had to case it. One of the ladies attending my sister’s Stamp A Stack tomorrow asked for a Mother’s Day card so I thought this was just perfect ….

Now what’s not to love about this card??

  • I love doing the ruffled/gathered ribbon
  • I love the patterns in the DSP Paper Stacks
  • I love purple/plum/eggplant
  • I love free stamps during Sale•A•Bration

Take a moment

Good Morning and welcome to another Utah Divas Sketch Challenge!

I have a busy weekend with a Demonstration today and tomorrow. Thankfully they are both doing the same Make n Takes so I dont have to unpack tonite and repack again tomorrow.

Here is this week’s sketch ..

This past week I heard that the father of a demonstrator friend is rather sick in hospital so I wanted to create a card for him to let him know that people are thinking of him and praying for him.

Here’s the card I created …

I wanted this week’s card to be of a male/masculine theme and thing I’ve achieved that.

The background on the base card is done with a wheel called Sandy Speckles and I just love it! I’ve also used it on the piece with the sentiment on it.

I do hope you like my card and now you can skip along to Ruthie B’s blog and check out her lovely creation. Now just in case someone has a broken link or doesnt have their project up as yet here’s a list of all the Utah Divas International Sketch Challenge Team ..

Elegant Embossing

Happy Friday!

I am on a group where we were given a challenge to do a technique that we havent tried before – to me that in itself is a challenge! So after thinking for a while I thought I’d try the Inked Embossing Technique – now I dont know if there is a correct term for this or not but thats what I’m calling it!

You simply ink up one side of a Textured Impressions Folder – you can swipe the ink pad all over till its covered or you can use your brayer to apply the ink. You then pop your cardstock in and run it through the Big Shot and awesome wowness :)

Here’s my card …

How nice did this turn out??

I inked up the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing folder with Elegant Eggplant classic ink and then ran it through with a piece of Perfect Plum cardstock. I just love it!

I’ve then finished off the card by adding some ribbon and the sentiment and gorgeous daisy from the Every Moment stamp set – new in the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalogue. I just love this stamp set and have made a couple of cards with it over the past couple of days and will share them with you in time.

Makes a very ‘queasy’ card (quick and easy – a new Onie-ism)

You can see how this card was made by coming along to my 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalogue launch on 17th or 18th September – just let me know which date you wish to attend – the day is free and there will be door prizes, make n takes as well as lots of laughter and special purchasing & booking incentives on the day.

Cant make it on the day?? No worries -  you’ll still receive the booking and ordering incentives which are …

  • contact me to arrange your demonstration and you will receive a bonus free Classic Ink Pad
  • If you place an order with me from the new catalogue I will also give you free postage on your order – so the more you spend the more you save!

Remember you must contact me before 18th September to arrange your demonstration or place your order to take advantage of these extra specials from me.

Also, if you join my Stampin’ Up! team before the end of September you will not only receive the bonus In Colour pack from Stampin’ Up! but you will also receive a bonus gift to the value of $35 from the new 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalogue from me and my thank you to you.  There really is no better time to join that now!

a la carte stamps

You may have noticed over the past few mini catalogues the introduction of ‘a la carte’ stamps.  These are single stamped that are priced economically for you so you canstart stamping quickly and at a price that suites everyone.

In our Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue we have four of these a la carte stamps of which one is the gorgeous All a Flutter stamp.  I’ve had this stamp for some time and managed to make a card this past week that I’d seen a month or so ago and just loved so much I bookmarked it to case.

How nice and rich is this card? The card was originally designed by the lovely Ilina Crouse. I have added just an extra couple of layers to make the main panel pop.

It reminds me of those framed butterflies you can buy which reminds me of a story from my childhood which I might share at a later date – I wonder if my two sister’s remember.

Recipe:

Stamps
• All a Flutter
• En Francais
Cardstock
• Basic Black
• Pumpkin Pie
• Rich Razzleberry
• Very Vanilla
• Watercolour Paper
Ink
• Basic Gray
• Jet Black Stazon
• Soft Suede
• Rich Razzleberry
Accessories

I love this card and I love this butterfly!

Good Morning and what a chilly one it is here in Sydney!  Its 9am and it hasnt even got to 8C (50F) yet!  Its times like these you thank God for giving people the brains to invent things like gas heaters!

Its Saturday again so that means another Utah Divas International Sketch from the lovely Carol.

Now it wasnt until after I’d finished my card that I realise that maybe this one was supposed to be rotated into a landscape card going on the way the bow is but hey I always change something right?

Here is my card ….

I thought too with our Deals of the Week I’d use some of the Haiku DSP in my card.

Recipe
Stamps: Asian Artistry
Paper: Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Old Olive, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White, Haiku DSP
Inks: Jet Black Stazon, So Saffron, More Mustard, Old Olive, Tangerine Tango, Always Artichoke
Accessories: Aqua Painter, Apricot Appeal Grosgrain Ribbon

I’ve had this paper for a little while and not used it so I thought that this was the perfect opportunity!

It also goes so well with the lovely Asian Artistry Hostess Set which I’ve been wanting for a while.

Dont forget this week’s deals finish on Tuesday night so if you want some of the following Designer Series Papers please be sure to ring me before Tuesday to place your order.

Spring Song

Its been a busy week and with the great Deals of the Week special its also been a good one :)

Today its time for another Utah Divas International Sketch from the lovely Carol.

I struggled with that diagonal panel so I decided to leave it out but I did put the circles on a diagonal.

I’ve used the lovely Spring Song stamp set which I received as a gift from the very lovely Andrea Buckland.

Andrea is a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator in Western Australia and was my Secret Sister in the last round of the ESAD Secret Sister Swap.  She is the lovely lady who has spoilt me over the past three months.

I hope you like this card as much as I did making it. I love that little sparrow!

Recipe
Stamps: Spring Song, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Paper: Always Artichoke, Autumn Days DSP, Soft Suede, Whisper White
Ink: Jet Black Stazon, Baja Breeze, Pretty in Pink, Always Artichoke, Sahara Sand, Soft Suede, Regal Rose, Old Olive.
Accessories: Circle Scissor Plus, 1 1/4″ circle punch, 1 3/8″ circle punch, 1 3/4″ circle punch, Dimensionals, Stamping Sponges, Aqua Painter.

This is such a lovely stamp set and using the softer colours makes it so soft and ‘springy’.  Thank you Andrea for this lovely stamp set.I thought that with the ‘green’ of the card you could still give this to a man and since Father’s Day is coming soon I thought I’d pop a Happy Father’s Day stamp from Teeny Tiny Sentiments on.

I have a demonstration tonight so I best make sure I have everything packed for that!

Now its time to skip over to the next blog of the Utah Divas International Sketch Team being the lovely Maxine Conrad. So leave a comment then pop over to Max’s blog to see what she’s created for this sketch.

A Rose for mum … and a special bonus offer

Hi everyone … I hope you are enjoying this last week of school – well those in NSW anyways.  Dont forget its Easter this weekend so make sure all your Easter Bunny preparations are all done! I’m sure there will be a huge rush on carrots over the next few days!

Here’s a card that I created for my mum as its her birthday on Thursday.

Mum loves roses and I love this rose!

My last two Stamp A Stack groups made this card and they just loved it!  Its quite easy to put together and the hardest part is just the embossing!

The Pink Pirouette layer is stamped in versamark then clear embossed.  The rose is stamped in Whisper White onto Whisper White cardstock and then clear embossed. Its then coloured using the Aqua Painter and Pretty in Pink Classic Ink Reinker and highlighted with the Regal Rose Classic Ink Reinker.  You will need your Aqua Painter to be very wet for this technique to spread the ink over the whole flower.

I would just love to show you how to make this card and you and your friends could make it for free just by holding a demonstration! So all you need to do is to email or ring me to book your demonstration in.

Now for my special bonus offer ….

The Stampin Up! ‘year’ goes from April to March and during that year you can achieve Sales and Recruiting goals and receive awards at Convention to achieving set goals. The first level Sales goal is $20,000 and I am just $500 short of this amount and am asking for your help so I can walk the stage, receive a special $20k pin and receive a bonus free stamp set at Convention in May.

Now there are only two days left to achieve this goal so I know I’m asking alot but if you would like to help me I am offering some special bonuses for those who place an outside order and pay on or before Wednesday. These offers are only good through me and only available until 8pm Wednesday 31st March and they are ….

Window Flowers

Last week I did another recessed window class and decided to make a new card for it.recessedblooms

I thought the Hydrangeas in a vase from Bloomin with Beauty would be perfect framed and I couldnt go past the purple and green colour combination.

Recipe:
Stamps: Tres Chic, Bloomin with Beauty
Paper: Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, Enchante DSP (2008 Idea Book & Catalogue)
Inks: Versamark, Pale Plum, Perfect Plum.
Accessories: Watercolour Wonder Crayons, Aqua Painter, White Grosgrain Ribbon, Eggplant Grosgrain Ribbon, Bone Folder, Ruler, craft knife.

You may notice that the lighter ribbon is not quite ‘white’. I actually dyed it using the Pale Plum reinker. I just put some water – not a lot just a bit to soak into the ribbon – and then dropped some of the Pale Plum reinker into the water. I popped a length of ribbon in (about a metre) and made sure it was all wet and the colour even. I left it in probably 5 to 10 minutes then took it out and hung it up to dry. You can do this with any reinker colour and white grosgrain so now you know how to make any colour ribbon to coordinate with your projects.

recessedblooms-inside

Here is the opened card.

I’ve placed a panel over the ‘recessed’ part and on the right placed a piece of pale plum which can be written on and has the lovely poppy flower stamped in versamark on the right for continuation.

Hope you like this card and if you would like me to show you how to make this card then give me a call to arrange your demonstration today.

Soft Blue Summer

Morning …. its a lovely sunny day here in Sydney and they’ve forecast a lovely 30° Celsius (86°F) so looks like we will be getting a little bit of summer here today!

Here’s a card that I created last week for my Aunt’s Stamp A Stack which was inspired by one of Vanessa’s blog cards she demonstrated at the recent Papercrafts Show in Sydney. Vanessa is a lovely lady and part of my Stamp A Latte team.

BlueDogwood

This is a lovely quick and easy card.

It uses the lovely Soft Summer set from the Spring Mini Catalogue. I’ve stamped the solid Dogwood flower on the bashful blue layer in Versamark just to give it a watermark effect and to take away the ‘plain’ look. The sentiment is stamped in Ballet Blue

The flower on the whisper white is stamped in Jet Black Stazon – I used Stazon so I could watercolour the leaves and flowers.  The actual flowers are layered as I stamped them again on another piece of Whisper White and coloured them then cut them out. This way you can curl the edges of the petals just a little and therefore give the card a little more dimension or depth. I’ve also daubered around the edge of the whisper white piece to soften the edges.

I have used the 5/8” Brocade Blue ribbon to finish the card off and I think its turned out quite elegant and I hope you like it too!

Scrappy Watercolour Stems

I wanted to share with you some cards that I made last week while trying to use up some of my scraps/off cuts and I found these strips of Stampin’ Up!® Watercolour Paper and they were the perfect size for this gorgeous flower from the Embrace Life stamp set. Actually, the chocolate chip layers were also found in my scrap drawers. scrapdrawers

When I create a project all my scraps and off cuts go into these drawers which are separated into each family and one for Neutrals and Designer Series Papers as well.

This makes it easy when I’m making another project and I need a small piece of cardstock I can just pull open the drawer for that family and rummage through for the right colour and hopefully the right size.

Although I do think I need to make some more cards in the soft subtles as I dont seem to be able to close that drawer at the moment! I might need to make up some collage/scrap packs for my customers ;)

This picture gives you a bit of an idea of how I store the scraps … I actually have another set on top with just 3 drawers in it with two being double the depth of these shown.

Here is another card again made using those watercolour paper strips – I think I’ll have to arrange a Stamp A Stack for this design and they really are an easy and elegant card.

prettystem

This card (on the left) has the two stems stamped on it in Stazon Jet Black then watercoloured using the Classic Ink pads and the aqua painter. So you dont really need to have water colour crayons or pencils to watercolour – mind you it does help!

I’ve also used the pretty pink paper from the Berry Bliss Designer Series Paper pack. The sentiment comes from the Occasional Greetings stamp set and I just love this stamp. Actually it sits on my shelf as I use it so much.

groovystem

The card on the right uses the patterened paper from the lovely Afternoon Tea Designer Series Paper pack. I love this pack so be prepared to see it used quite a bit over the next 3 months!

I’ve just stamped the stem once in Stazon Jet Black on the Stampin’ Up! watercolour paper and again coloured using the Aqua Painter and ink from the classic stampin pads.

The sentiment is actually a rub on from the Hidden Garden Rubon set which is available in the Summer Mini Catalogue.

These cards are great for any occasion at all – just change the sentiment and it could be for anything from birthdays & get well to congratulations or even a sympathy card.

If you’d like to see how to used your ink pads as a watercolour palette then contact me today to book your demonstration or enrol in a technique class.
