Sweet Summer Moments

Well we’ve definitely had some summer moments here in the last week! Here in Sydney its been the hottest week in 85 years and today was a shocker with 41°C – thats 105.8°F for my American friends. Way too hot for this Diva!

When I saw this weeks sketch I freaked – circles ugh … but … not to let the team down I changed it a little. During the week I also saw Gretchen’s Diva Colour Challenge and thought why not combine the two?? They are such purty Colours!

So here’s this week’s Utah Divas Sketch challenge …

and here is the Utah Diva’s Colour Challenge …

now arent they pretty colours???

Now for my card ….

dsc121fluttermoments

As you can see I still did use a couple of circles. Thats the great thing about sketch challenges – you can ‘interpret’ them how you feel and my poor Beautiful Wings Embosslit has been feeling a little neglected of late so I used that as well.

The flowers come from the lovely Sale•A•Bration set Sweet Summer which I got for free this week just by ordering $100 worth of Stampin’ Up! products. Gotta love free stamps! So if you’d like this Sweet Summer set or one of the other Sale•A•Bration stamp sets you can email or phone your order through to me – you’ll get one free set for every $100 you order.

Maybe youre thinking you’d like to try this Stampin’ Up! Business opportunity for yourself and if so now is the time to join. If you join during Sale•A•Bration you will receive a bonus free stamp set from the Idea Book & Catalogue to the value of $79.95 and I’ll also give you a Sale•A•Bration set of your choice plus a bonus ‘joining’ gift from me.

Have Questions? need more details? then feel free to contact me or check out the information online by clicking on the “Join my Team” button in the menu up the top. You can join online so there are no forms to fill out and send off – the hardest part of joining is deciding what stamp sets and inks to choose!

Sweet Birthday Sketch

There is nothing like school holidays for the days to mingle together and you end up forgetting what day it is and wonder where that last week has gone!

Its hard to believe that the girls return to school next week and we’ve just had 6 weeks of holidays – where did all that time go? Mind you I think these holidays have been the most productive and we did the Christmas thing, then went to Victoria for a week to visit family and since coming home we’ve decluttered the kitchen, Linen Cupboard and both the girls’ rooms! Whew no wonder I’m tired!

Well its Saturday – I know this cos my Outlook tells me it is – so that means its time for another Utah Divas Sketch Challenge and here is this week’s sketch …

Now since last week I didnt rotate the sketch or anything I decided I had to do something to it this week so I’ve turned it upsidedown ….

I just love the Every Moment set – maybe due to those lovely Daisies and I love Daisies :) It is such a clean crisp image set.

I also love the Sweet and Sour Designer Series Papers – not sure if you can see it in the picture but the Rose Red paper layer is actually embossed! There are a few papers in this pack that are embossed and they are divine!

I also love the Stampin’ Up! Watercolor paper. I’ve tried other Watercolour paper but nothing comes close to the Stampin’ Up! paper.  The colours just blend so well on it and I’ve just used my Aqua Painter and the ink from my classic ink pads to colour the image.

I do hope you like what I’ve done today as I really enjoyed colouring this one and putting it all together.

Now its time to skip over to the lovely RuthieB‘s blog and check out her lovely creation for this sketch and here’s the full list of all the Utah Divas Sketch Design team …

Birthday Tess

I’ve had a few birthdays the last few weeks and wanted to use my Tote-ally Tess stamp set.

After deliberating for what seemed like hours (which was really about 20 minutes or so) on what papers to use I finally gave in and went with the gorgeous Cottage Wall Designer Series Papers.

As much as I love the Tote-ally Tess set and ‘had’ to have her I’ve struggled to use her in cards.  So I’m challenging myself  to use Tess more so I hope you will see a few different “Tess” cards over the next few weeks.

Why dont you make a card with Tess too and pop a comment with the link to your blog post or online gallery?

This one is simply a “Birthday Tess” carrying a little cupcake. Looking at the card now I could have added a little gift bag as well – I might even still do that and send through a photo once its done.

Recipe:

Stamps: Tote-ally Tess, Short and Sweet
Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Opulence, Whisper White, Cottage Wall DSP
Inks: Basic Black, Rich Razzleberry, So Saffron, More Mustard, Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, Ridinghood Red, Going Gray.
Accessories: Big Shot, Lots of Tags sizzlits, White Taffeta Ribbon, Aqua Painter, Stampin Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive, Mini Glue dots.

One of my favourite ways to colour is to use my Aqua Painter and the ink pads to water colour and I was pleasantly surprised at how well the Certainly Celery top went with the Rich Razzleberry pants.

So who’s for a cupcake?

I could go one right about now!  Why not treat yourself to one today and why not grab a Latte at the same time to wash it all down! In honour of all the birthdays we’ve had lately of course ;)

Convention Swaps

One of the joys and highlights of Convention is swapping.  Its amazing to watch – and the chatter … wow! There’s nothing quite like making a swap and then realising that you’ve been talking to this person online for the last 12 months or so!

Here are the cards I made for my Convention Swaps …

This is one of my favourite cards and its been a hit with my customers too!

I actually made this card for my ESAD-SU Secret Sister back in March so havent been able to show it until now and the tulips are made using the very lovely Extra Large 2-step Bird punch available in the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue.

Recipe
Stamps: Cottage Garden
Paper: Cottage Wall DSP, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White, Old Olive, Lavender Lace, Pretty in Pink, Apricot Appeal
Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Perfect Plum, Lavender Lace, Pretty in Pink, Apricot Appeal
Accessories: Big Shot, Top Note die, Little Leaves sizzlits die, Polka Dot Impressions folder, Scalloped Oval Punch, Extra Large 2-step bird punch

This is my second card and its done using Pocket Silhouettes stamp set. This has to be one of the best value stamp sets and can literally be used for anything!

Recipe
Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes
Paper: Not Quite Navy, More Mustard, Whisper White
Inks: Sahara Sand, Tangerine Tango, Not Quite Navy, Old Olive
Accessories: Stampin Write Markers, Always Artichoke Grosgrain Ribbon

I’ve used the masking & sponging techniques on this card. I cut a rectangle out of a scrap piece of paper to create the ‘window’ then sponged it in Sahara Sand. I then stamped the leafy image in the same Sahara sand ink. It gives a dimensional look dont you think?

Here is my last swap card ….

Dont you just love the Tote-ally Tess set ??  For this card I’ve renamed it Totally Onie as it has all of my favourites on this card – Rich Razzleberry cardstock & ribbon, Cottage Wall DSP, Stamps and of course – coffee!

Recipe
Stamps: Tote-ally
Onie Tess , Sip by Sip
Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Cottage Wall DSP, Whisper White
Inks: Rich Razzleberry, Jet Black Stazon, Orchid Opulence, Chocolate chip reinker, Going Gray
Accessories: Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Grosgrain ribbon, Aqua Painter, Stamp-a-majig, Stampin Dimensionals

I’ve used the Paper Piecing technique for the Tote and used my Ink pads to watercolour with the aqua painter. I must say Tess was rather popular with the swappers.

Now here is a picture of all the swaps I received …

Now I did come home with some swaps of mine so if you would like one of my swaps then send me an email with your address and I’ll pop one in the post to you.

A Rose for mum … and a special bonus offer

Hi everyone … I hope you are enjoying this last week of school – well those in NSW anyways.  Dont forget its Easter this weekend so make sure all your Easter Bunny preparations are all done! I’m sure there will be a huge rush on carrots over the next few days!

Here’s a card that I created for my mum as its her birthday on Thursday.

Mum loves roses and I love this rose!

My last two Stamp A Stack groups made this card and they just loved it!  Its quite easy to put together and the hardest part is just the embossing!

The Pink Pirouette layer is stamped in versamark then clear embossed.  The rose is stamped in Whisper White onto Whisper White cardstock and then clear embossed. Its then coloured using the Aqua Painter and Pretty in Pink Classic Ink Reinker and highlighted with the Regal Rose Classic Ink Reinker.  You will need your Aqua Painter to be very wet for this technique to spread the ink over the whole flower.

I would just love to show you how to make this card and you and your friends could make it for free just by holding a demonstration! So all you need to do is to email or ring me to book your demonstration in.

Now for my special bonus offer ….

The Stampin Up! ‘year’ goes from April to March and during that year you can achieve Sales and Recruiting goals and receive awards at Convention to achieving set goals. The first level Sales goal is $20,000 and I am just $500 short of this amount and am asking for your help so I can walk the stage, receive a special $20k pin and receive a bonus free stamp set at Convention in May.

Now there are only two days left to achieve this goal so I know I’m asking alot but if you would like to help me I am offering some special bonuses for those who place an outside order and pay on or before Wednesday. These offers are only good through me and only available until 8pm Wednesday 31st March and they are ….

Sale A Bration Spectacular Update

Well what an awesome day Saturday was at our SaleABration Spectacular!

We had 46 people come for the day and we all had lots of fun and all the ladies worked hard making all those projects we’d set up for them – they made 8 projects in all and with quite a few going home with door prizes or raffle prizes!

Here is a slideshow of how things looked before everyone arrived ….

Here are the make n takes that I made for the day ….

There were 8 make n takes in all and the other six were created by my lovely fellow demonstrators – Lisa, Jossleen and Clare.  We had some make n take kits leftover so I managed to grab a couple of kits so I can make up the make n takes too.  Now I have some of my kits left over so if you’d like a kit for the above make n takes then please email me with your address and I’ll post them to you.

I do hope those who were there on the day had as good a time as I did!

I stamped!!

I have had a wonderful holiday visiting with family and catching up with old friends and doing quite a bit of travelling which I’ve enjoyed being out with the family. Hubby goes back to work on Monday and I’m now getting back into the swing of things with my first stamping of 2010!

Mind you I nearly missed this challenge as I didnt realise today was Saturday (duh me) hence the lateness of my post.  Hope you’ll forgive me.

If you are new to visiting my blog I participate as part of a weekly sketch team with the lovely ladies at Utah Divas International blog.  The Utah Divas International is a group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from all over the world getting together and supporting and encouraging each other. Its a great group to be a part of (more like family really) and if you are a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and interested in joining the group then email me and I’ll get an invite organised for you.

Now onto the sketch ….

The lovely Carol does our sketches each week and I’m continually amazed at all the different ones she comes up with and once you start working with a sketch then those cogs starts turning and you get so many ideas.

For today’s sketch I wanted to do something simple and it was then I remembered one of my best friends birthdays is this week so I went with a birthday theme.

I also wanted to show you how to step-up a simple card and make it just that little bit special.

So here’s my card for the sketch challenge ….

I’ve used the lovely new Wagon Full of Fun stamp set from the Summer Mini Catalogue. This is a great set as it has 10 stamps in it and 6 of these are images and 4 are sentiments.

Actually this card has used up a few of my scraps or offcuts. I’ve used a piece of patterned paper from the Kaleidescope Designer Series paper and I’ve then just used the colours in that piece for my cardstock colours being Pretty in Pink and Pumpkin Pie.

The cupcake is stamped in Jet Black Stazon onto Stampin’ Up!’s wonderful watercolor paper. I’ve then watercoloured the image using my trusty Aqua Painter and the classic ink pads. The Sentiment is stamped in Jet Black stazon but in two stampings as this sentiment is actually on one line.

The card is finished off with tying two pieces of ribbon around the centre – Pretty in Pink Taffeta and Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain.  Stampin Up! just make things so easy to coordinate!

Now the card is lovely as it is but since this card is for my good friend Karen I wanted to make it a little special. So I stamped the cupcake another two times so I could layer it a bit similar to paper tole. I’ve then also added some glitter to the icing and flame on the candle.

This image shows you the dimension in the card and also in the candle image. The candle image actually now how three layers – first on the main piece of watercolour paper which has the whole image there. Then the second layer is just the icing and the candle. The third and final layer is just the candle and the flame.

I’ve then gone around the swirls in the icing with my two way glue pen and then sprinkled the lovely dazzling diamonds over. Once the glue dries it is clear and it just looks like the glitter sticks to where I put the glue.

Here is the final card

I do hope you like my card – its a little hard to see the glitter when taking these photo’s but you can see it just a little bit.

Dont forget to popover to the Utah Divas International blog to see what the other ladies have created.

Summer Dragonfly

I shared on Tuesday the gorgeous Frienship Folder well tomorrow I’m doing a Stamp A Stack where the ladies asked for cards using stamp sets from the new Summer Mini Catalogue. I had a great time creating the cards last night and want to share with you one of them today.

DragonflyHappinessI just love how this card turned out! Its so simple yet elegant at the same time.

I’ve started with stamping the dragonfly from Nature’s Nest in Jet Black Stazon Ink onto Watercolor Paper. I’ve coloured him in using my aqua painter and the ink from the Classic Stampin’ Ink Pads.  The Happiness sentiment (from Warm Words stamp set) is stamped in Not Quite Navy ink.  The dragonfly image is then layered on Bashful Blue then Not Quite Navy. I’ve layered a piece from Urban Garden Designer Series Paper and dressed it up with a lovely piece of white grosgrain ribbon. Simple hey?

Now with my share the other day I talked about the blue eggs and yes as some of you shared it was the Robin I was thinking of and originally thought the Emu to have blue eggs however on researching their eggs seem to be more of a dark Jade shade.

I did some research on the dragonfly too while doing this card last night. It seems that if you are given a dragonfly that you should then hear ‘good news’ and I do have some good news for you today!

It appears that a few of the popular products from the Spring Mini Catalogue are still available for purchase even though the sales period for the mini is now over. Now not only are they still available but these products will also be available in next year’s Idea Book & Catalogue.

Here is a list of the still-available products:

Item # Item Price
112534 Jumbo brads 5/16″ Neutrals Assortment $15.50
112533 Jumbo brads 5/8″ Neutrals Assortment $13.50
114889 Scallop Oval punch $30.95
106960 StazOn ink pad (White pad and refill) $22.95
109196 StazOn Cleaner $9.95

How good is that??

So if these are items you’d like to still get and didnt get a chance in the Spring Mini Catalogue then you can still order them – pretty cool huh?

Just a reminder that if you want anything ordered and to you before Christmas you will need to get your orders and payment to me by 11th December – thats this friday! Also, here’s some more good news, any orders placed and paid for this week (before 11th December) I will pay the postage & handling for you.

Also, I am taking a holiday! Yes you read it right! I will be going to visit my family in Victoria for Christmas so will be leaving here on 20th December and will return back to working on 11th January, 2010.

Unchartered Territory

Morning All … yes its a lovely sunny morning here today and I wanted to share this card with you before I head out – going to Koorong and then meeting some friends for lunch.

I have a special class on monday with a few ladies and they like to do ‘special’ cards so here is one I created yesterday using Unchartered Territory from the Spring Mini Catalogue.

RecessedWindowFrontThis is a recessed window card and I followed the video tutorial done by the lovely Beate. She does such wonderful projects and makes everything look so easy and is such a giving lady and willing to share her knowledge with others.

This card is a little more involved than most but so worth the effort.

I’ve stamped the lighthouse image in jet black stazon onto water colour paper and then coloured the image in using my aqua painter and the ink from the lids of the ink pads.

I love colouring this was as you can control how little or how much ink/colour you want. If you want a lighter colour you just spread it out and the water from the aqua painter will water it down for you.

I’ve layered my lighthouse onto Brocade Blue then So Saffron. I’ve stamped the sanded background stamp onto the so saffron layer and daubered around the edges to give the shadow effect. The base card is Night of Navy and I’ve used Bella Bleu paper for the frame on the front. Now I was going to add a small boat on the front over the frame but I felt it was just too much so I left it off.

RecessedWindowInsideHere we have the opened card.

Due to the ‘recessed window’ at the front it left an area inside that needed covering on the left so I’ve just made a panel using the Night of Navy, Bella Bleu Paper and very vanilla for which I’ve stamped the boat image and the sentiment inside.

I’ve then also created a matching panel on the right side to even the card out when opened. I’ve only stamped the boat here so that you can write your message or greeting onto the vanilla  cardstock – would look great using the fine tip of your Night of Navy Stampin’ Write Marker!

As I said this card is a little more involved than what I usually do but I’m loving finding new projects for my customers. Some I do are ones I’ve done before and some are ones I’m now doing for the first time like this card. I am very happy with how this one turned out and think I’ll be sending it to my dad for Father’s Day so I hope he likes it when he gets it.

If you’d like to follow Beate’s video tutorial just click on the play button below.

I hope you liked this card too and it was done just using the Unchartered Territory Stamp Set and the Sanded background stamp.

Now I’m off as I need to get ready and go to my day out with a couple of friends.

Have a great day and dont forget to take some time out for you!

Spring Fever!

I dont know about you but I’ve had enough of the cold weather and I’m really looking forward to things to start warming up again! Spring starts (officially) in just 11 days and I love September with all the flowers and plants coming back to life!

Last week I did a class where I wanted to do something a little different so I went looking for a ‘different’ card and after finding a few to choose from I decided on the ‘Spring Card‘.

Its a great card and easy to do and just has a couple of folds in it – and it also is such a nice card to do and make someone feel that little bit extra special.

SpringFunBdayHere is the first one I made ….

Its using the same stamps I used in yesterdays card from the Pun Fun stamp set.  The images have been stamped in Jet Black Stazon onto watercolour paper.  The sentiments have been coloured using the markers direct to the rubber and then stamped onto the Watercolour Paper.

I’ve then used the aqua painter to pick up the ink from the lid of the ink pads to colour the images.  Yesterday’s hippo was coloured using Going Gray but today I thought I’d try something a little different and I used Bordering Blue which gives a lovely blue-ish grey hue and comes out a little softer than the one I did in the gray – so dont be afraid to try different colours for different images you might find that it surprises you!

The second card I made of these ‘spring’ cards I thought would make an awesome Christmas card for that special someone.

SpringBaublesThis card turned out better than I’d imagined – I just love it :)

It uses the Ski Slope Designer Series Papers and the Tree Trimming Stamp set from the Spring Mini Catalogue.

Its a bit hard to tell with the picture as glitter rarely shows up regardless of how you take the photo! I’ve actually stamped the baubles onto whisper white and cut them out and stuck them to the  card using stampin’ dimensionals. I’ve then used the two way glue pen to put some glue on the red and blue baubles and sprinkled the dazzling diamonds all over then have tapped the excess dazzling diamonds off so the glitter only shows where I’ve put the two way glue.

These cards are great as you can mail them flat and once they come out of the envelope they ‘spring’ up and stand up alone – makes a great extra special card dont you think?

Would you like to make one or two of these cards?

I’d be more than happy to come and show you and your friends just how easy and fun they are to make and with Christmas only 19 weeks away nows the time to start on those christmas cards! So email or ring me today to book your demonstration in!

Birthday Stack

This is one of the cards I made for the Watercolour Demonstration for last Friday.

PunBdayStackWCthis is a very simple card which could be adapted to suite either boy or girl … actually as soon as I finished this card Emily asked if it was her birthday card and as soon as I asked if she wanted it to be she snaffled it up. I had to explain that it wasnt her birthday for another 3 days so she reluctantly gave it back!

I do love the Pun Fun set and its a great set to start with as it has 8 different stamps for all occassions.

PunFunSet

It even includes a coffee cup so how could you go wrong with it??

The images are stamped in Jet Black Stazon onto Stampin’ Up! water color paper and coloured using the aqua painter and the dye ink from the pads on the lid as a palette. I love colouring this way as not only do you have the colours on hand in the ink pads but you can use the aqua painter to water down the colour if you want a lighter hue of one of the colours. This way you can also build up your colour to give depth and dimension as you can see on the Hippopotamus and the birds tummy.

The Happy Birthday greeting is one of the new ‘single’ stamps available from the Spring Mini Catalogue and very reasonably priced at just $13.95 and has been coloured using the markers directly onto the stamp and then stamping it onto the water colour paper.

I did use the stamp-a-majig to place my stamps so they’d be in the right position – you dont want the words going over the hippo or the bird’s feet half way through the ‘happy’.

I do hope you like this little card as much as Emily does!

Thanks for stopping by and see you next time – its time for a Latte!

Water Colour Roses

I have wanted to try this technique for a while and took the opportunity to do them for the Watercolour demonstration I did last friday.

I realised recently that I love to do challenges – be they colour or sketch and it really gets my creativity going with the little challenge ‘suggestion’. So with this in mind I combined the watercolour rose technique with last week’s sketch from Stamping 411 – a fairly new blog to the stamping world with regular challenges and tutorials.

They have clean simple sketches and I love simple!

Here is my card for this challenge

WCRoses

The first time I saw this technique was on Patty Bennett’s Blog however they use shimmer cardstock which we dont have in our catalogue so I tried it with our lovely gloss cardstock and it really works a treat!

This technique is surprisingly very easy to do and all the ladies loved the outcome when they did it as the make n take last friday. The hardest part is having the patience of waiting for the roses to dry which takes about 20 minutes or so – Friday was such a gorgeous sunny day we popped the roses on the window sill in the sun and they dried in less than 20 minutes.

We did the make n take in two parts with me demonstrating different watercolour techniques in between which seemed to work well and then we finished off the card and I must say that these ladies made some very pretty roses and no two turned out the same even though they all had the same three colours in the re-inkers.

Hope you like this card and I’d love to show you how to make it so contact me today to book in for your watercolour demonstration!
