Cherished Times

Yes its Saturday and time for another Utah Divas Sketch Challenge and I do hope the other sketchy Divas had a great time at Leadership in Utah!

I am feeling a bit weary this afternoon after hitting the shops this morning to do the ‘back to school’ shopping … Uniforms, Shoes, Back Packs, Books, Pens, Pencils, etc – the list seems to get longer and longer each year!  My poor body is starting to seize up so I’ll take some meds and go rest up a bit after I finish this post.

Here is this week’s sketch ….

simple enough hey?? well i had a sneak peek at what the other girls made and wanted to do something a little different – so unlike me isnt it?? well you will be surprised to know that I rotated the sketch (is that you I can hear gasping??) and here is what I made …

Recipe
Stamps: Easy Events, Tiny Tags, You’re Cherished
Inks: Jet Black Stazon, Pear Pizzaz, Pool Party, Early Espresso, Soft Suede, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Crumb Cake, Old Olive
Paper: Whisper White, Pool Party, Early Espresso, Spice Cake DSP (Summer Mini)
Accessories: 1/8″ White Taffeta ribbon, Whisper White Bakers Twine, Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch, Modern Label Punch, Vintage Trinkets, sponges, aqua painter, stampin dimensionals

When I rotated the sketch all I could see is the sweet little grandfather clock from Easy Events – yes I used that set again!!  I did tell you that you’d see a few things made with it didnt I??

I do hope you like what I’ve made this week and be sure you pop over to the Utah Divas International Blog and see what the other girls have made.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Mini Events

I did my first workshop for 2012 the other week and it was good to get back into the swing of creating and sharing what I love!

As these ladies were a mixed bunch I thought I’d show how versatile our stamps are and have had the Easy Events stamp set since the pre-order back in August but hadnt actually inked it up so thought this was the perfect opportunity!

Easy Events is a great set with 8 sweet little stamps and all with different greetings so you would have something for any occasion your celebrating!

I made a little set of 8 little gift cards and here is the first four ….

Cute hey?  Wish I’d thought to use the little Christmas one at Christmas!!

Here is the other four …

Cuter still!!

I love that tree Stamp!

This set makes for a great quick and easy card and as I said before – for any occasion.  Now it comes in Clear Mount or Wood and I’ll share a tip with you that I do for these types of sets.  As you have an image and words on each stamp I tend to slice the words off the bottom of the stamp. If I had wood mount I’ll mount the words separately on the side of the block.  This way I can use the image by itself or I can always use my stamp-a-majig to place the words under the image as they should be.  It also gives me the opportunity to mix n match the greetings with the images!  So for example I could use the two birds with the ‘sending you love’ sentiment – now that would make a sweet Valentine card!

I have more projects using this set which you’ll be seeing over the next few days so stay tuned!!

If you would like to see how very versatile this little set is then please contact me today to book in your workshop – dont forget Sale•a•bration starts on 24th January so everyone gets to earn free stamps & accessories!

Holiday Lineup

As you know Sunday I decided I should really sit down and make me some cards and so I went to my drawer to find a set I hadnt used much for Christmas and Holiday Lineup seemed to be jumping and saying “pick me” … “oh oh .. pick me”.  So I did!!

I wanted a design that was fairly quick and easy as I needed to make a few.  I came up with a design I liked and then thought it was missing something and sat back and looked at it and thought … hmm it needs an embellishment of some sort.  I added a bow and wallah .. this is what I came up with….

Now for a closer view …

The Carolers

Rudolph and Friends

Frosty & Friends

Recipe

Tidings of Joy

Good Morning!!

Well here we are at another Saturday and since I had to be up and dressed when the dudes came to mow the grass I seem to be rather organised for today’s Christmas Stamp A Stack!  Ready to go and over 2 1/2 hours before we start!!

Being its Saturday its also time for another Utah Divas Sketch Challenge!

Here is today’s sketch …

DSC #162

Utah Divas Sketch #162

“Cool” sketch hey?? Doesnt it immediately make you think Christmas and Snowmen or Penguins??  That was too obvious so I had to go a little different but still stuck with the Christmas theme ;)   Although I might still make a Christmas Penguin or Snowman card during the week if I have time. I have a busy week coming up with preps for Dad’s 80th Birthday and then my neices’ wedding on Sunday. Then because I wont have enough to do I’m starting Monday Project Classes on the Monday – Tuesday I sleep!!

Enough of my ramblings …. Here’s my card …

Pastel Joy

I have had this stamp since August when we could pre-order from the new 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalogue – I love nativity sets and this is the first one we’ve had in  a while so just about squealed when it was available in the pre-order. I just hadnt had the time to use it before now and I’ve also used some of the new Watercolour Paper and its so easy to use and with such little effort.  This is one of the cards the girls will be making today at the Christmas Stamp A Stack – I sure hope they like it!

One of the advantages of being a Demonstrator is being able to see the upcoming catalogues and ordering them before they are available to the Australian market – like now with the Summer Mini Catalogue starting 1st December I already have the catalogue and some of the gorgeous new items available. So if you’d like to also be able to see whats coming up please contact me today about joining my gorgeous Stamp A Latte Team!

Now dont forget to check out what the other designing Divas have created and you will find the links to their blogs on the Utah Divas International Blog. Dont forget to leave them a little comment love too ;)

Now if youre a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator located you can join the Utah Divas International group on Facebook.

Dont forget we still have the ‘Sale to Die for’ happening – selected Big Shot dies and embossing folders are on sale at 10% off and there’s also a Big Shot bundle including the machine at 10% off as well – these would make awesome Christmas presents and I’ll even wrap them for you!!  Contact me today to place your order!

Telescoping Cards

You may recall me talking about the Stampin’ Up! Convention back in May – with all thats happened since May it feels like a lifetime ago!

One of the awesome things you see at Convention is the demonstrations by the staff from the Stampin’ Up! Home Office in Utah and one of those was when Pam Morgan showed us the telescoping card. You should have heard all the wow’s when she shared this awesome card.

So when I got home I had to track down a tutorial on how to make these lovelies and thought it would be great to showcase them when we held our New Catalogue Launch in September.

Here is my first one using the colour paletteand a couple of the papers from Flirtatious Designer Series Paper pack.

Telescoping Doilies

This image shows the card closed and the following image shows the card open …

Telescoping Doilies - open

If you look closely these cards and held together by using brads and I’ve use the Glimmer Brads on this one.  The sentiments come from the Petite Pairs stamp set which is a great set full of lovely matching sentiments – one for the front of the card and another for inside.

Here’s another one I made using the gorgeous colours and papers from the Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper Pack.

Telescoping Paisleys

To give the card some continuity I simply cut one of the flower out of the patterned paper and adhered it to the top layer.

Telescoping Paisleys - open

I just love the colours in the Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper pack – so beautiful and rich! I just love how Stampin’ Up! have mastered the art of coordination! Coordinating everything from colours in their cardstock, inks, ribbons and patterened papers down to the images in their stamps to their paper designs as well.

I love these cards and they are rather easy to make – alot easier than they look! I’d love to share them with you and your friends at a workshop so contact me today to book your date!

Scalloped Cups

Firstly, thank you to all those who have sent messages regarding the passing of my Father in Law – they are much appreciated and each one of them touches us deeply.

I have a few cards I’ve made lately that I havent shared yet so hopefully I can be more consistent and get back to the blogging and sharing of my work.

Today’s card is one I made a few weeks back and not only is it another Queasy card but its also a very cute little card. Wouldnt this be a great card to invite friends over for coffee or to meet at your favourite coffee shop?

I know youre thinking … not again .. not those cups!!  Sorry but I just love this set so much and I love the Sweet and Sour Specialty Designer Series Paper – they both seem to just go so well together!

This is a simple little card and I’ve used the Scallop Square die to  cut the card base. I pop in a folded card and make sure the fold line is inside the scallops on one side so its not cut through and there you have an instant scallop square card!

I just then added the layers and I find its good practice to add a white layer if you want to ‘lift’ a particular layer and give a card some depth.

I’ve simply stamped the cup stack on a piece of whisper white and coloured the cups in the colours used in the Sweet and Sour Specialty DSP pack.

Now people often ask me why I dont do inserts for cards and my answer to this is that I dont really think they need them. If you use a dark card as your base you can always write inside the card with one of our lovely White Gel pens and when using lighter coloured cardstock you can use a regular pen or even one of our Stampin Write Markers (the fine tip obviously) as you can use a complimentary colour and shows just how colour coordinated you really are!

In saying that I have popped a sweet little insert into this little card …

I have a few different ideas on how to use our scalloped square and circle dies with the Big Shot and if you’d like me to show you how why not contact me today to book your workshop in and dont forget our “Last Chance” list will be available 1st August so you’ll want to have a workshop so you can get all those retiring stamps and accessories before its too late and earn some free products at the same time!

Book your August workshop in by 18th July and receive a bonus Ink Pad when you hold your workshop (conditions apply)

Leafy Green

Oh my … I just checked and my last post was on 21st June!!  My apologies for being so tardy :/

We’ve had a rough week here with my Father in Law passing away early Sunday 3rd August and we had the funeral on Friday 8th July.  He was 96 years old and being the fanatical cricketer he was he would agree that he had ‘a good innings’!  Its always the good cricketers that are always out just before their 100 is it not? Being a veteran soldier he was given a lovely tribute by the local RSL and they also held the wake for him at no cost to the family which was very nice. It was a long emotional day but I do think Pop would have been proud. I must say though that “The Last Post” has not affected me they way it did Friday before and I dare say each Remembrance Day will be the same.

Onto a brighter note …

Here’s a card I made using the gorgeous Growing Green Stamp Set.  Sometimes it is hard to see uses for a stamp set full of flowers other than cards with flowers so wanted to share this idea with you ….

I originally  created this for a dude card however I’ve been informed that its not a dude card but a dudette card!

I’m thinking I might recreate this into a dude card using some Crumb Cake and replacing the twine bow with maybe some twine wrapped around the River Rock panel.

I just love this set as its images are just so lovely to water colour and as you can see it could be used for either male or female cards – regardless of what your kids say ;)

This is another of those queasy cards which are suitable for any occasion at all.

I do hope you like this card and would love to hear what Stampin Up! sets you like to use for both male & female cards.

Dont forget that when you spend $100 or more during July you will receive a gorgeous Ice Cream Parlour gift pack of ribbon and buttons absolutely free – thats over $30 worth for free!  So email or ring me with your orders today and grab your free ribbon & buttons.

Perfectly Plum for Mum

With just 11 days left of March Sale•A•Bration I thought it was a good opportunity to share a card I cased from the lovely LeeAnn Gref - she makes some very lovely cards.

As soon as I saw this card I knew I had to case it. One of the ladies attending my sister’s Stamp A Stack tomorrow asked for a Mother’s Day card so I thought this was just perfect ….

Now what’s not to love about this card??

  • I love doing the ruffled/gathered ribbon
  • I love the patterns in the DSP Paper Stacks
  • I love purple/plum/eggplant
  • I love free stamps during Sale•A•Bration

The set used in this card is the Sweet Summer from the Sale•A•Bration catalogue – its just so useful and really all you have to do is change the sentiment and this card would fit any occasion at all!

If you would like this set – or any of the other Sale•A•Bration stamp set then be sure to get your order to me as soon as possible and dont forget I’m giving a 10% discount on all order from now till the end of March.

I am also offering a special bonus to anyone booking a Demonstration in April & May – I have a bonus free stamp set to the first four to contact me and book in a date.

So if you want more free stamps then please be sure to email or ring me to book your Demonstration in – but remember the free stamps only go to the first four!

Well I hope the ladies tomorrow like this card as much as I do!

I’ve cut up all the kits for tomorrow so now I’m off for a little siesta – well it is Sunday and therefore a day of rest!

Scalloped Moments

Wow!

What a day!

I had my monthly Stamp A Stack here today and had two new girls join us which in turn gave us a full table – I might have to put this on twice a month if more people wish to come – how cool would that be? I just love this job and being able to do it when it suites me and my family is just a double bonus.

Its been a busy day and I’m so grateful that I managed to do my Utah Divas Sketch Challenge card on Thursday :)

Here is this week’s sketch ….

OOOhhhh Scallops!!

When I saw this I thought this was the perfect time to use my Scallop Square die in my Big Shot – mind you I’ve had it for a month or so and hadnt used it yet so this was the perfect opportunity!

Here is my card …

Scalloped Moments

Yes I know … I’ve used Every Moment Stamp Set yet again but I just love that set!

Now you might notice that my scalloped square is not really a square on my card.  What I did was cut out a square using the die and then I moved the square along within the scallops and ran it through again to create the scalloped rectangle.  Easy :) so now you have two uses for the scalloped square die!

Now this die is in the Summer Mini which finishes on 31st March so if you want it or anything else in the mini then make sure you get your order to me before the end of the month – and dont forget the 10% discount that you get if you order with me before 31st March. All purchases of $100 or more also earn Sale•A•Bration sets as well so dont miss out on the discount AND the free sets!

Now why dont you play along with this week’s sketch?  Just click on the sketch above to go to the Utah Divas International Blog and feel free to post your link in a comment here – I’d love to see what you make with it!  I’ll send a RAK to anyone who plays along and posts a comment with their link.

Now the next Designing Diva is the lovely Ruthie Burkey so be sure to stop by her blog and see her lovely creation … oh and dont forget to say hello!

Sweet Morning Cup

Well it doesnt take long for another Saturday to rock around does it? Seems like only yesterday ……

As it is Saturday (again) its time for another Utah Divas Sketch Challenge and here is this week’s sketch …

Utah Divas Sketch #125

I’ve been looking at this sketch and been wondering all week what on earth to do with it!  I think I looked at using 3 or 4 different sets before I decided on Morning Cup Stamp Set.

I decided this week that I’d rotate the sketch – only because I havent rotated it for a few weeks and have to keep Carol on her toes!

Here is my card …

Sweet Cuppa

I had decided to use the Sweet and Sour Specialty Designer Series Paper as I wanted something bright and funky! However when I put the DSP piece on the centre panel the embossed flourish didnt pop as much as I’d like so I thought I’d do an ‘emboss resist’ on the DSP and wow it sure does pop – I only went over the embossed edges so it still has the pumpkin pie background there.  I just stamped my images onto Stampin’ Up! Watercolour paper and coloured them in using the Watercolor Wonder Crayons and the colours from the Sweet and Sour Specialty DSP being Rose Red and Pumpkin Pie. I love my crayons!!

Now you may remember a few weeks back I unmounted my Take a Sip Stampin Round Wheel – well for the background I just lined these stamps on the block and inked them up and stamped in Rose Red onto the Rose Red card base.

Now if you’d like to learn how to colour using the different tools we have then why not contact me and book in for my Watercolour Technique Class which will be held here at my home on Friday 4th March.  You will learn how to colour using the different mediums and see the difference on different cardstocks so be sure to contact me and reserve your spot today as seats are limited and they are sure to fill fast.

Now its time to skip over to Ruthie B’s blog and check out what she’s made for this week’s sketch.

Take a moment

Good Morning and welcome to another Utah Divas Sketch Challenge!

I have a busy weekend with a Demonstration today and tomorrow. Thankfully they are both doing the same Make n Takes so I dont have to unpack tonite and repack again tomorrow.

Here is this week’s sketch ..

This past week I heard that the father of a demonstrator friend is rather sick in hospital so I wanted to create a card for him to let him know that people are thinking of him and praying for him.

Here’s the card I created …

I wanted this week’s card to be of a male/masculine theme and thing I’ve achieved that.

The background on the base card is done with a wheel called Sandy Speckles and I just love it! I’ve also used it on the piece with the sentiment on it.

I do hope you like my card and now you can skip along to Ruthie B’s blog and check out her lovely creation. Now just in case someone has a broken link or doesnt have their project up as yet here’s a list of all the Utah Divas International Sketch Challenge Team ..
