Urban Dreams

Good Morning!!

Its a cool Spring morning here in Campbelltown and thought I’d best start the day sharing a card with you!

UrbanDreams1

This is a card I actually made last week but havent had a chance to post till now and was actually one that inspired my Diva Sketch Challenge last Saturday.

I love the colours in the Urban Garden Designer Series Paper pack so I just used the same colours in cardstock and inks to colour and stamp the Dream du Jour image.

If you look in your 2009-2010 Idea Book and Catalogue on page 132 you will see all the lovely Designer Series Papers you can get and if you look closer you will notice that with each pack Stampin’ Up! have included a colour swatch of what colours they used for each pack! How cool is that?? sure helps me to choose colours for my creations – it takes the hours of guess work out of  ‘will this colour cardstock match this paper??’

I do hope you are proud of me as I actually used the Blender Pens on this card to colour the flowers of the stamped image! I do struggle with these pens as I find that the paper pills when I try to do larger images so maybe I just havent worked out the ‘knack’ of using them right yet. I tend to go to my aqua painter as I do love that brush!

UrbanDreams2Something different I tried for this card was the centre of the flower.

This second image shows the layering of the card and image. Now if you look a little closer you might see what I’ve used for the centre of the flower.

Look closer ….

I’ve actually used one of the tiny silver spacer beads you get in the Pretties Kit – I’ve put a drop of Crystal Effects on the centre of the flower then dropped the bead on and on its side so it looks round from the front.  It was one of those “oooo I like that” moments!

I do hope you like this card as much as I do – really do love how this turned out and it will be going to someone special too!

Well best be off and get tidied before the cleaning ladies get here!

Diva Sketch Challenge 47

Here we are at another Saturday and today is a busy one so I needed to get this share up early!

I have a Fresh Cuts class today which I’m looking forward to however with my back the way it is I’ve had to entice my daughter to play the lovely assistant today! Gotta make these kids earn their allowance now dont we?? lol

This is today’s sketch Diva Sketch Challenge 47from the lovely Carol.

Looking at it now it reminds me of a porthole on a boat … or maybe the Life Saving Ring you’d throw someone overboard but since I dont have any of the ‘sea’ type stamp sets I’ll have to give that card a miss! Which is just as well as I dont have time to do one now!

Now Carol has always said I can change the circles so I did! I know that wont surprise her in the least but here’s my first card. Trendy Trees 47

I’ve used the Trendy Trees set and one of the sentiments from the Friendly words Stampin’ Round wheel.  I recieved the Trendy Trees at Convention which was back in April and I’m a little embarassed to say this is the first time I’ve used them.

Now this is a stamp set that you will definitely need the Stamp-a-majig for! Unless of course you want all your trees to look a bit wind blown like my tree on the far right!  The leaves on the ‘wind blown’ tree are coloured with the stampin’ write markers and I used Old Olive, Bordering Blue and Really Rust. The patterned paper is from the lovely Urban Garden Designer Series Papers.  To stamp the sentiment I inked the wheel up in Baja Breeze ink and then just highlighted two of the words using my chocolate chip stampin’ write marker. I positioned the wheel so the section or wording I wanted was first to stamp and then I just cut it out and mounted it on Baja Breeze and Chocolate Chip.

Now onto the second card … yes I did two today!

Great Friend 47After posting yesterday’s card I decided I’d like to make up a class for a set of cards in a box using the Great Friends stamp set and the Parisian Breeze Specialty Designer Series Papers and this is one that will be included in that set.

I love the kraft cardstock as its a wonderful neutral colour and literally goes with anything!  This is another very easy card and I just love that butterfly but I dare say you’ve noticed that! The frame and butterfly are both layered using stampin dimensionals to give the ‘floating’ butterfly illusion – its a bit hard to see here.

I have just used papers from the gorgeous Parisian Breeze Specialty Designer Series Pack and stamped the sentiment from Great Friend straight onto the baja piece.  The Kraft Taffeta just lifts the card and makes it a lovely elegant card for a friend.

Now after making these two cards tonight I’ve realised just how much I’ve been using the Baja/Blue/Brown colour combination so I will try my very best not to use it during the week – we’ll see how I go!  Maybe after I finish that set I want to make ;)

I best be off and finish the scoring for the box for tomorrow’s class and then go get some much needed sleep and rest for my back.

Diva Sketch Challenge 42

Here we are at yet another Saturday …. they just come around so quickly!

sketch42

We have had a change in the Sketch Challenge Coordinator at Utah Divas so please help me in welcoming Carol Marbach as our lovely new coordinator.

Carol has some awesome sketches in store plus a few twists!! As if I dont twist them enough!!

Now because this is Carol’s first sketch I thought I’d be a good girl and not play with the sketch – well not in the first card I made – thats right I made two cards today!

If I didnt have a Class on today I’d probably make some more! So I might get some more done during the week – so we’ll see how time permits.

DSC42-thumptree

I havent had much time this week with demonstrations and migraines so havent had as much time for me to stamp.

Now when I first went to do this sketch I pulled out my trusty Fifth Avenue Floral set and wanted to use this paper from the Urban Garden Designer Series Paper and as soon as I grabbed the paper I had a sudden urge for a male card and this tree from Le Jardin Botanique! Well it is hubbies birthday on Tuesday so had to make him a card anyway!

I’ve done a little thumping on the tree and I must say I really do like how it turned out – looks a bit like a Silver Birch I think!  Thumping is a technqiue to do using your Stampin’ Write markers. You colour your stamp in the lighter colours first – I coloured the trunk in in Always Artichoke and then coloured the leaves in Bordering Blue.

I then took my Not Quite Navy marker and tapped it on the leafy area a bit like a drum stick using the side of the brush marker tip. I hope that makes sense – if not then I am more than happy to show you how! If you want it more of a mutted or mixed effect then just spritz very lightly with water.

DSC42-PinkStemHere’s the second card I made using the sketch.

I’ve used the flower stem again from Le Jardin Botanqiue which I’ve coloured using the Stampin’ Write markers and using the ‘direct to rubber’ technique. This is when you use your markers to colour in the stamp directly onto the rubber and then stamp onto cardstock. I’ve used the Mellow Moss, Pretty in Pink and Rose Red markers on this one. The patterned paper is from the Bella Rose Designer Series Paper pack.

The flower is a little shorter than the tree image so needed to fill in the bottom a little so just stamped a greeting from Three Little Words onto some Pretty in Pink cardstock and then trimmed it to give a banner effect.

These are both very quick and easy cards which can be done as part of a Stamp A Stack so contact me today to arrange your Stamp A Stack for you and your friends.

Best be off to get ready for today’s Class and make sure I have everything I need in my beloved trolley and make time for a Latte before I go.

Have a great Saturday and make sure you make some time for you this weekend!

Thoughts and Prayers

With the new Idea Book & Catalogue we gained lots of lovely new stamp sets and one that grabbed me as soon as I saw it was Thoughts and Prayers. I’ve been hounding Stampin’ Up! in Australia to get more of the inspirational sets into our catalogue that the girls in USA & Canada have had for years and finally its happened – we now have a few inspirational and christian stamp sets and I think thats great!urbanprayers

Recently I’ve had a few friends who have lost a parent to illness or from a tragic accident and I’ve had a few others going through a hard time with their health so I wanted to send them a card to let them know that I was thinking of them and praying for them

This is a card I created the other day for this very reason. Its a simple and elegant card (well I think it is) which also happens to be a very quick card too which is sometimes what you need for friends or family during trials of any kind.

Recipe:

Stamps: Thoughts and Prayers
Paper: Night of Navy, Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Baja Breeze, Urban Garden Designer Series Paper.
Inks: Not Quite Navy, Old Olive

So as you can see – not only is it a simple card and easy to do but you dont need much to make it either! Gotta love the Stampin Up DSP as they’ve chosen the colours for you already and it all matches and coordinates with our cardstock and inks!

Dont forget you only have this week to take advantage of these awesome promotions …

  • Buy three packs of Designer Series Paper and get the fourth pack free!
  • Join Stampin Up! with the limited time “Scrapbooking Starter Kit” for just $150 (what a great way to start your own business and at such a small price!)

Ring or Email me if you want to place an order or have any questions about joining Stampin’ Up! and becoming part of my awesome team!

I do hope youre all having a wonderful saturday – dont forget to take some ‘you’ time and maybe do some stamping.
