Another Nature Walk

Good Morning!

Well today will be a mad rush to ensure I’ve packed everything and done everything I need to do before tomorrow’s flight to Melbourne for the Stampin’ Up! Convention which starts on Thursday.

I wanted to pop in and share a card I made a little while ago using the Nature Walk Stamp Set and the Tulip Frame Embossing Folder both new in the Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue.

I wanted to show how you can use the Tulip Frame Embossing Folder for making various sized frames and mats.

You simply cut your cardstock to a little larger than the mat/frame you want and line up 2 or 3 edges of the cardstock with the frame and run it through the Big Shot.

Then you line up the other edges and the pattern you’ve just created and run it half way or 2/3′s through the machine and then wind it back – dont put it all the way through as the last part will flatten what you did in the first pass. Oh I hope that makes sense … if not drop me a line and I’ll do some instructions when I get back from Melbourne.

This is a very queasy card and I’ve just used my Stampin Write markers to colour in the flower stamp and stamp it straight down and then stamp a sentiment at the bottom.

As you can see you could use this card for any occasion at all from Sympathy to Birthday to Get well.

Now I’d better get back to that to-do list so I dont leave anything behind tomorrow!

Nature Walk

What a busy week its been and its only going to get busier!

What do you think of the new blog look? Like it? I do … I have been looking for that right theme forever – well it seems like it anyways. Then when I was browsing the Studio Press site by Brian Gardner the other night I came across this Pretty Young Thing them and it was ‘oh yeah’ and I just edited the graphics and took the hearts off and inserted the coffee cups!!

This Wednesday I fly down to Melbourne for the 2011 Stampin’ Up! Convention – its for 3 days of total Stampin’ Up! awesomeness and I cant wait!  This year I have the pleasure of sharing it with my gorgeous friend and downline Libby Dyson and being Thursday is Libby’s birthday it will be extra special!

So as you can imagine its only going to be busier this upcoming week. Convention finishes on Saturday night with the Awards dinner and then Sunday I’m hiring a car and driving over to see my mum, dad and sister in Cobden – just a little 3 hour drive!  Now I think I might have to stop in Geelong for a cuppa! I fly home again the following Tuesday – lets hope the family survives that long and the house isnt a total warzone when I get back!

Here’s a card I made a little while ago for a swap on ESAD – sadly my swap cards still seem to be travelling as they never arrived – obviously the Postie decided they liked them enough to keep them himself.

I really enjoyed making this card. I just love collage stamping and putting all the elements together and then sitting back and looking at the end product.

There seems to be lots of stamps on this card however its just the Nature Walk Stamp Set (Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue), Teeny Tiny Sentiments and the En Francais background stamp. I’ve also added a piece of the Botanical Gazette Designer Series Paper and how cute are those little Library Clips??

I hope you like this card as much as I enjoyed making it … now I must duck up to the shops to grab some socks and a couple of scarves as it appears as hundreds of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from Australia and New Zealand descend on Melbourne so is a cold front! Talk about timing!!

Dont forget the great ‘Deals of the Week’ happening this week – just click the image in the sidebar or here to view them and dont forget they change each Wednesday so be sure to check back.

Now since I’ll be away you’ll need to email me your orders and from now until 20th May I am offering free postage on all orders so email or text me today with your order!

Perfectly Plum for Mum

With just 11 days left of March Sale•A•Bration I thought it was a good opportunity to share a card I cased from the lovely LeeAnn Gref - she makes some very lovely cards.

As soon as I saw this card I knew I had to case it. One of the ladies attending my sister’s Stamp A Stack tomorrow asked for a Mother’s Day card so I thought this was just perfect ….

Now what’s not to love about this card??

  • I love doing the ruffled/gathered ribbon
  • I love the patterns in the DSP Paper Stacks
  • I love purple/plum/eggplant
  • I love free stamps during Sale•A•Bration

The set used in this card is the Sweet Summer from the Sale•A•Bration catalogue – its just so useful and really all you have to do is change the sentiment and this card would fit any occasion at all!

If you would like this set – or any of the other Sale•A•Bration stamp set then be sure to get your order to me as soon as possible and dont forget I’m giving a 10% discount on all order from now till the end of March.

I am also offering a special bonus to anyone booking a Demonstration in April & May – I have a bonus free stamp set to the first four to contact me and book in a date.

So if you want more free stamps then please be sure to email or ring me to book your Demonstration in – but remember the free stamps only go to the first four!

Well I hope the ladies tomorrow like this card as much as I do!

I’ve cut up all the kits for tomorrow so now I’m off for a little siesta – well it is Sunday and therefore a day of rest!

Autumn Days for Christmas

It always seems odd to me that Christmas is associated with cold wintery scenes. Being in Australia its always very hot and humid at Christmas time – well for most parts of Australia it is. So its hard to imagine the Christmas by the fire with the snow falling outside – what I’d give for a little cool at Christmas time.

Now in saying all this it doesnt mean we dont share the Christmas Joy with our friends overseas where it is winter and snowing at Christmas and this is probably why “Christmas in July” is such a fun thing here in Australia and why some of my customers have asked for ‘Christmas in July’ Stamp A Stacks.

I splurged and purchased two new Christmas stamp sets the other week – not that they are new to Australia but just new to me ;) I am sure some of my customers are over the cards I did last year with Snow Swirled, Lovely as a Tree and Wish for Peace although I still do love those sets so you might see another one or three cards made with those over the upcoming months.

If you have been a long time visitor to my blog you will know that I love to make Christmas Cards using ‘non’ Christmas stamp sets.  This past weekend I’ve been playing with the Autumn Days stamp set from the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue and made a couple of simple and very easy Christmas cards.

christmassinglecone

How nice is this?? and so easy to make and quick too!  I’ve just used the Pine Cone stamp from Autumn Days and stamped on the base card in Versarmark to give it the watermark look – you could even clear emboss the base card too to give it a little extra lift.

The main image is the same Pine cone stamp coloured with the Stampin Write markers then stamped onto Very Vanilla Cardstock. I’ve then stamped the Merry Christmas from Teeny Tiny Sentiments down the bottom and tied a ribbon around it – easy as!!

christmassingleconered

Do you like the second one??

The only difference is I’ve stamped the sentiment in green and tied the Red Taffeta Ribbon around the card. Now this bow has no tying! Yep no tying at all – this is so easy you’ll wonder why you hadnt thought of it before!

I got this idea from my lovely friend and downline Andrea Lowcock. You simply hold your ribbon in the bow shape, open a brad and have it so the prongs are going up and down then wrap the brad prongs around the ribbon. Adjust your bow before tightening the prongs. See …. easy!!!

These cards are just so so easy to make and would make a great Christmas card and you could do a bundle of these in just one night – even in front of the Television if you’re into multitasking!

A Little Baroque

This past week I’ve been busy getting my emails and Google reader up to date – cant believe I had over 700 posts I hadnt read!  Can you believe its now down to 3?

In my ‘reading’ I did find some gorgeous cards and projects to inspire and case.  Now when you do case a card or something you’ve found online the ‘proper’ thing to do is to give credit to the person who inspired you.  In today’s case this card is one I cased from the very lovely Lynda Shrimpton.  Lynda is an avid blog reader – I know this cos not only does she frequent my blog but those of my demonstrator friends and she always leaves the best comments! Thanks Lynda :)

Isnt this a great card??

Now I did change the colours somewhat as I wanted to use this as one of the cards for today’s Stamp A Stack.

Recipe

Stamps: Baroque Motifs, Weathered background, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Inks: Sahara Sand, Close to Cocoa
Papers: Close to Cocoa, Naturals Ivory
Accessories: Stampamajig, Sponge Daubers, Stampin Dimensionals
TechniqueShadow Stamping

If you look closely at the card you can see a faint shadow on the swirl. This is done by using the two inks – one light and one darker and you definitely need to use the Stampamajig to place the second stamping.

If you love this effect and would like to see how it is done why not book in for my Technique Class or have me come show you at a Workshop in your home.

Now I have some sad news …..

As you know we have the colour renovation happening when the new Idea Book & Catalogue comes out in September (not long now) and some of our beloved colours are being discontinued. Now while Stampin Up! have tried to keep up with the demand some of the colours will be gone early due to demand and everyone ordering and the first item to go is Close to Cocoa A4 Cardstock.  So while the full packs are no longer available you can get it in the mixed Earth Elements pack but again this is only while stocks last.

So please if there is any other retiring colour cardstock, inks, markers or refills you ‘need’ get it early before its too late!

Have a totally blessed Sunday!
