Sketchy Foldy Saturday

Happy Easter Saturday to you!

Its Saturday so that means another Utah Divas Sketch Challenge and boy was this weeks one a challenge!

Well the sketch in itself wasn’t hard to do but the challenge this time was to do Iris Folding. Now I love most things with paper crafting and card making but Iris Folding is not one of them – but I did persevere.

I wanted to stay with the Easter theme so thought a Iris Folded Cross would be good – well until I couldn’t find a template but the lovely Ruthie came to my rescue. I ended up drawing my own cross and used the pattern Ruthie sent me.

So here’s my card …

what do you think??

I’ve used the lovely Bella Bleu Designer Series Papers with Not Quite Navy card stock. I couldn’t help myself but use the Eyelet Border Punch as it is one of my favourites and just adds a touch of elegance.

I’ve used a build-a-brad for the centre focus on the cross and used the small flower from the Bella Blooms stamp set.

I have purposely left off a greeting. This way you could use this card as an Easter card or a Sympathy card.

I do hope you like what I have done – I suppose the Iris Folding looks OK but not sure I’d make too many using this technique.

Now its time for you to skip along to Lori’s lovely blog to see how she interpreted the sketch.

Diva Sketch Saturday

Here we are again at another Saturday and that means another Sketch Challenge. Mine is coming a little late as my dear husband decided we needed to go Christmas Shopping – ugh 3 weeks before Christmas and its not pretty!

Here is this week’s sketch …. DSC60

An interesting one to say the least! I thought it was upside down so I turned it around and made this card …

I wanted a bit of a manly card and thinks this fits the bill.

I love the shells of Seaside and made a collage of them for the main image then stamped the greeting from God’s Blessings over the top in a darker colour.

DSC60The shells on the very vanilla piece are done in Creamy Caramel after being stamped off first. The greeting is stamped in Chocolate Chip.

I’ve then taken the little shell and inked it up in versamark and then Chocolate Chip and embossed it so it has a shiny look to it. Cut it out and then adhered it with stampin dimensionals.

Instead of affixing the stripes on the base like the sketch indicates I’ve just stamped the shells in two lines in versamark.

Due to the versamark ink being faint I used my Stampin’ Pastels to bring out the colour of the shells on the base card.

I do hope you like this card – it was a quick and easy one to make and one you could use for a sympathy card or to lift or encourage someone or just let them know you care!

Dont forget to stop by the Utah Divas International Blog to see what the other ladies have done!

Thoughts and Prayers

With the new Idea Book & Catalogue we gained lots of lovely new stamp sets and one that grabbed me as soon as I saw it was Thoughts and Prayers. I’ve been hounding Stampin’ Up! in Australia to get more of the inspirational sets into our catalogue that the girls in USA & Canada have had for years and finally its happened – we now have a few inspirational and christian stamp sets and I think thats great!urbanprayers

Recently I’ve had a few friends who have lost a parent to illness or from a tragic accident and I’ve had a few others going through a hard time with their health so I wanted to send them a card to let them know that I was thinking of them and praying for them

This is a card I created the other day for this very reason. Its a simple and elegant card (well I think it is) which also happens to be a very quick card too which is sometimes what you need for friends or family during trials of any kind.

Recipe:

Stamps: Thoughts and Prayers
Paper: Night of Navy, Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Baja Breeze, Urban Garden Designer Series Paper.
Inks: Not Quite Navy, Old Olive

So as you can see – not only is it a simple card and easy to do but you dont need much to make it either! Gotta love the Stampin Up DSP as they’ve chosen the colours for you already and it all matches and coordinates with our cardstock and inks!

Dont forget you only have this week to take advantage of these awesome promotions …

Soft Wheelin

September is the ‘Free Wheelin’ month with Stampin’ Up!®. I just love being with Stampin’ Up! as they always give us great promotions to spoil our customers with.

The Free Wheelin promotion has been great to get me to using the wheels again – they sit in their boxes usually and when I noticed them I think yeah I should use those more!

Stampin’ Up have pre-selected six wonderful stamp sets for you to choose from for this promotion. When you buy one of the pre-selected sets you will get the co-ordinating Jumbo wheel for free. That’s a saving of $15.95! How sweet is that?? Here is a list of the stamp sets and jumbo wheels for this promotion.

Lately I’ve had a few friends who have lost someone dear to them or who are going through very trying times with terminally ill friends or family. I love the verses in the God’s Blessing set one of which i used on this card. They say just enough without it being too ‘soppy’.

This is a card I made for yesterday’s demonstration. It uses the Carte Postale stamp set and the Leaves a’ la Carte Jumbo wheel.

I have used the wheel to make the background on the base card however in this photo you cant see it too well. I love putting soft colours with chocolate chip or cocoa.

I have also added a half pearl from the pretties kit to give a soft/elegant feel to this card. This image shows you a close up of the flower and how i’ve used the pearl for the centre and flicked up the petals of the flower.

I love getting out and sharing my passion for stamping and creating cards and gifts so if you’d like to see how this card was made – and how easy it is to make then email or ring me today to book your demonstration in!

October is fully booked and November is filling up fast so you’d better be quick!

Pop back tomorrow to see what I made with the Priceless Bundle!
