Convention Swaps

Well today is day two of the 2011 Stampin’ Up! Convention and I thought I’d share my swap cards I made.

This first one was made using a sketch from Cards n Things Sketch #76 and I couldnt go to Convention without making a swap using the gorgeous Morning Cup Stamp Set.

Paper: Elegant Eggplant, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White, Lap of Luxury DSP
Accessories: Aqua Painter, Rose Red Stampin Write Marker, Circle Punches (1″, 1 1/4″, 1 3/8″), Scallop Trim Border Punch

For my second card I wanted to make a masculine card so immediately went for the French Foliage Stamp Set

I hope some of the other demonstrators like my cards so I dont come home with too many of these.

I hope you like these too and they will be available as ‘Stamp A Stack’ cards after Convention.

Who’s for a cuppa?

I know I could use one right now however its 6.37am and everyone is in bed and the coffee machine makes such a noise I’d wake them all up and I dont want to do that!  I’ve been up since 4am and awake since 2.40am – I think hubby really needs to see someone about his snoring!

As you know I run a Demonstrator only group for Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators in Australia and New Zealand and we run a quarterly secret sister program through the group. Its a great way to get new ideas and be a little spoilt along the way – and who doesnt like handmade cards and little gifts in the mail? I know I love them and this is the gift I got yesterday for September ….

How divine is this?? You’d think my Secret Sister knows me quite well … she did put a note in saying that the pot is for coffee only!

I am going to have to go searching for the template for these – they are just so darned cute!

Now the tea cup has a slit in the top and thats so you can slot the ‘tea bag’ message/sentiment in like here ….

Its just too cute for words!

So if you are my secret sister and happen to be visiting my blog I say thank you for this gorgeous little gift :)

Secret Stampin Sister Round 4

Its that time again – a new round of the Secret Stampin’ Sister program! I cant believe we are up to round 4 already!

I’ve received  a couple of gorgeous cards this month and I wanted to share them with you today.

How nice is this card?

These arent colours I would have put together but dont they look so very nice?? Colours used are Kraft (Crumb Cake), Baja Breeze and Elegant Eggplant.  I’m going to add this one to my Stamp A Stack Selection – I love it.

I love the touch of the Elegant Eggplant ribbon and the scrunched flower.

They have used the lovely Medallion stamp too – I thought it odd when I’d made those Medallion cards the other week and here comes one in the mail for me!

Now I received this card a couple of weeks ago and then yesterday I received the second card for the month of August.

How cool is this one?? and just in time for Father’s Day too!

This card is so neat … and I love how the tie and shirt have matching hankies in the pocket! Too cool – the Designer Series Paper used here is the Windsor Knot papers which will retire on 31st August but suit this card so well.

Now with every good suite the jacket opens up as shown below and the shirt layer opens to reveal a white background for you to pop your message onto …..

Now dont forget the Last Chance List and those items that are discounted even more than before – also I’m still offering free post on all orders up till 31st August so get on the phone or shoot me an email with your order and how you wish to pay.

Convention Swaps

One of the joys and highlights of Convention is swapping.  Its amazing to watch – and the chatter … wow! There’s nothing quite like making a swap and then realising that you’ve been talking to this person online for the last 12 months or so!

Here are the cards I made for my Convention Swaps …

This is one of my favourite cards and its been a hit with my customers too!

I actually made this card for my ESAD-SU Secret Sister back in March so havent been able to show it until now and the tulips are made using the very lovely Extra Large 2-step Bird punch available in the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue.

Recipe
Stamps: Cottage Garden
Paper: Cottage Wall DSP, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White, Old Olive, Lavender Lace, Pretty in Pink, Apricot Appeal
Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Perfect Plum, Lavender Lace, Pretty in Pink, Apricot Appeal
Accessories: Big Shot, Top Note die, Little Leaves sizzlits die, Polka Dot Impressions folder, Scalloped Oval Punch, Extra Large 2-step bird punch

This is my second card and its done using Pocket Silhouettes stamp set. This has to be one of the best value stamp sets and can literally be used for anything!

Recipe
Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes
Paper: Not Quite Navy, More Mustard, Whisper White
Inks: Sahara Sand, Tangerine Tango, Not Quite Navy, Old Olive
Accessories: Stampin Write Markers, Always Artichoke Grosgrain Ribbon

I’ve used the masking & sponging techniques on this card. I cut a rectangle out of a scrap piece of paper to create the ‘window’ then sponged it in Sahara Sand. I then stamped the leafy image in the same Sahara sand ink. It gives a dimensional look dont you think?

Here is my last swap card ….

Dont you just love the Tote-ally Tess set ??  For this card I’ve renamed it Totally Onie as it has all of my favourites on this card – Rich Razzleberry cardstock & ribbon, Cottage Wall DSP, Stamps and of course – coffee!

Recipe
Stamps: Tote-ally
Onie Tess , Sip by Sip
Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Cottage Wall DSP, Whisper White
Inks: Rich Razzleberry, Jet Black Stazon, Orchid Opulence, Chocolate chip reinker, Going Gray
Accessories: Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Grosgrain ribbon, Aqua Painter, Stamp-a-majig, Stampin Dimensionals

I’ve used the Paper Piecing technique for the Tote and used my Ink pads to watercolour with the aqua painter. I must say Tess was rather popular with the swappers.

Now here is a picture of all the swaps I received …

Now I did come home with some swaps of mine so if you would like one of my swaps then send me an email with your address and I’ll pop one in the post to you.

Secret Box of Blessings

You may remember last month I told you about the Secret Stampin’ Sister Swap that we have on our Demonstrator Group ESAD-SU.  The requirements are you send 2 cards and one small gift a month and then on the third month you receive a gift to the value of $30.

Well this is what I saw when I opened my Secret Sister Package for March.

How nice hey?? It even had a couple of butterflies in there for the girls and a note in the card to tell me to share the chocolates! Well I shared the eggs with the girls and hubby and I both had a picnic :)

You might see in the pack there was a little package with ribbons and daubers in it – in my Secret Sister’s note she also said that one can never have too many ribbons and extra daubers never go astray! Well this is so true – as crafters we all know that one can never have too many ribbons and if youre a sponger/shader like me those daubers get a good workout and I really do need to get some more!

Inside the box I also received a little pillow box with a gorgeous distressed flower on top.  How sweet is that little pillow box? and so simply decorated. It also had 3 little eggs inside. After seeing this I just had to order me the pillow box die!

Also inside the box was a little gift box with flowers and tags.

How sweet is this??

I love the little tags and I just love the flowers and the colours – I just love everything thing about this little gift and stamp sets. How did she know I love purple I wonder??

Now finally … the  card

How lovely is this card?? I love this set and the wheel and the colours and everything about this card. I am thinking that I might know my Secret Sister well as she seems to know everything I like!

I must say though that when I first saw the Very Vintage Stampin’ round I didnt realise it had a butterfly on it until I had actually stamped with it!

The stamp sets used in these items are Cottage Garden, Vintage Vogue, Very Vintage Stampin’ Round and Heard from the Heart.

Did you know that the Cottage Garden set is only available in Australia & New Zealand?? thats right its not in any of the catalogues in USA or Canada. How special is that???

Thank you so much to my Secret Sister – hopefully she reads my blog – I feel very blessed to have you as my Secret Sister!

Convention Swaps

Can you believe I am ‘still’ trying to get back into the swing of things since returning from the Stampin’ Up! Convention in Canberra! Although, I do believe, some of the problem is dealing with the cooler weather which seems to have just shown up without a warning! I suffer from Fibromyalgia so the colder weather really does affect me to no end – must be time to visit my Dr and get a little extra help for the winter chills. Sometimes I really do think I should have been a bear and then I could just hibernate for the winter.

One of the great things about convention is the swaps. I only had time to make 40 swaps this year so they didnt last very long. These are the cards I made.

The card made with the Inspired by Nature stamp set I did in a variety of colours and some were done using Poppin Pastels technique and some where done using the Direct to Rubber with the markers.

So although I only did 40 swaps I still returned home with 40 different cards to inspire and case.

Two of the swaps I recieved I did case and use for my Stamp A Stacks last Saturday and Monday and the ladies really loved them too. I cased cards from two special friends – the lovely Kerri Hunter and Nicki Tidbold. These two great demonstrators have become very dear friends through Stampin’ Up! and I am blessed to called them friends.

pottedsilhouettesThis first one is the card I made after casing one of Kerri’s swaps. Its a simple but elegant card and very easy to make and all with just one stamp set – Pocket Silhouettes.

Recipe:

Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes
Inks: Sahara Sand, Basic Black
Paper: Tangerine Tango, Whisper White
Accessories: Stampin Write Markers, Small Oval Punch, Sponges, Dimensionals

pinksquarebloomThis second card was cased from one of Nicki’s Swaps.

This is another simple but elegant card and I’m a great admirer of Nicki’s work. She also did a presentation at convention on making Male themed cards which was awesome – well done Nic!

Recipe:

Stamps: Eastern Blooms
Inks: Regal Rose, Basic Black
Paper: Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Sweet Always DSP
Accessories: Small Oval Punch, Sponge Daubers, Chocolate Chip 1/4″ Grosgrain, Dimensionals, Dazzling Diamonds, 2 way glue pen, Scallop Border punch.

So as you can see Convention is more than just going and attending the business talks and the make & takes – its also about friendships and the swaps!!

Rose Memories

rosetapestryswapconv2008You may remember this card I made for Stampin’ Up!® Convention Swaps last year.

I loved the tapestry look the linen background stamp gave and you really cant go wrong with Purple and Olive can you?

The Wild Rose stamp set gives this card the vintage feel as they are more like the old fashioned roses. This set is great value  even if it does seem expensive at $69.95 as you get 12 stamps and you can create the loveliest cards with it – it has the large flower as shown on this card as well as stems, leaves and rosebuds and most have two stamps per image being a 2 step stamp set. The sentiment is from the Define Your Life stamp set which contains 28 stamps and it might be an idea to purchase this set too as the price may increase in the new catalogue due to the state of the exchange rate of the US Dollar.

One of my Stamp A Stack groups wanted to do this card but they wanted to do it with burgundy or red in place of the eggplant as they already had a eggplant/olive card chosen for today.

burgtapestryroseHere is what we are making today. Funny how those Cherished Teddies always seem to sneak into my photo’s!

This photo really doesnt do this card justice as I’m so happy with how changing a couple of colours has given this card such a fresh new look.

I’ve changed the mellow moss panel to using a piece from last years Enchante Designer Series Paper which it seems I still seem to have a few sheets of and I do love it so much.

The roses are done in Bravo Burgundy with the leaves done in Old Olive.

I do hope you like this card and if you’d like to see the Wild Rose set in action give me a call to arrange your demonstration. I wonder if we will get to keep this stamp set or if it will be on the Retired Stamps list due out 1st March.

Better get organised and off to my Stamp A Stack. Pop back later tonite or tomorrow for the Diva Sketch Challenge card.
