Diva ‘scrappy’ Presents

Good Afternoon and welcome to another Utah Divas Sketch Challenge.

This is this week’s sketch …

Sketch challenge 167

Now seeing this sketch you’re thinking Christmas and Baubles arent you??

Well I went a little different and here is my card …

I have some scraps of the Letters from Santa DSP so decided to use them on this card.

This is also another of those ‘queasy’ cards and I’ve also used scraps to do the ‘bows’ on the presents – I simply punched the triple flower punch and cut the flower in half to create the ribbons and added a rhinestone jewel for a little bling!

I have to make some Christmas cards as I dont have the number I want to send out so here’s the same card but with a red polka dot ribbon …

Hope you like my ‘gift card’ and be sure to pop over to the Utah Divas International blog to see what the other girls have created.

Spicey Notes

Happy Saturday to you! I hope you are well and if you’re anything like me your busy preparing for Christmas with shopping and what not.  We got our tree up last night – funny story as hubby wanted a 5 foot tree and we sorta ended up coming home with a 7 foot tree! Thats ok cos it was in sections so we just left one section out and wallah – instant 5 foot tree!! So glad he only got the box of 300 Christmas Tree lights and not the box of 600 lights!!

Now being Saturday its time for another Sketch challenge from Utah Divas International group and here is this week’s sketch …

Now I can see you imagining a lovely simple Christmas card with some snowflakes – right??

Well thats what I thought to start with but then my mind started to wander and since tomorrow I have a Project Class on I wanted to make something with this sketch – something that could be used either by the ladies coming or given as a gift for Christmas and this is what I came up with ….

I’ve used the new Spiced Cake DSP in the new Summer Mini Catalogue and I just love this paper and can see me going through quite a few packs over the next few months!

This would make a great gift for Mums, Dads, or students on their desk or maybe even as a Teacher Thank You gift.  It could lie flat on your desk or pop a couple of magnets on the back and attach it to the fridge.

I hope you like this little message centre and I hope the ladies like it tomorrow too!

Dont forget to stop by the Utah Divas International Blog for links to what the other Designing Divas have created with this sketch.

Marry Me

As you know last weekend was huge with Dad’s 80th Birthday dinner and then my neices’ wedding on the Sunday.

When I got my copy of the upcoming Summer Mini Catalogue and saw the Marry Me stamp set I knew I had to get it for Janine’s wedding card and since it included a flower stamp and a couple of sayings I’d be able to use it for other occasions as well.

Here’s the card I made for Janine & Rob …

I love the colours in the new In Colour range and I’ve used Pool Party and Island Indigo on this card.  I’ve also stamped the image onto vellum and embossed it. I simply then just cut out the veil and attached it using Glue Dots and used the gorgeous pearls to ‘hide’ the glue dots and to give it that special lift.

Now as I was sitting enjoying a coffee that morning my brother messages me and asks if I can make a card for Dad – I think they forgot it took us an extra hour than them to get to the Wedding Venue!  but being the wonderful daughter I am I made a card for Dad to give ….

I’ve used Marry Me again with Razzleberry, Pretty in Pink and Vanilla.  I love this combo and this card was rather quick & easy once I’d worked out what to do.

The Summer Mini Catalogue starts on Thursday 1st December and if you dont have your copy yet and would like a copy please contact me and I’ll get one in the post to you this week.

Dont forget there are just three days left for the Big Shot ‘sale to die for’ promotion so if you’d like to grab some dies at 10% off or maybe grab some for Christmas gifts contact me today and if you place and pay for your order before midnight Tuesday 29th November you’ll get free shipping!  Email or Ring me now to place your order!!

Tidings of Joy

Good Morning!!

Well here we are at another Saturday and since I had to be up and dressed when the dudes came to mow the grass I seem to be rather organised for today’s Christmas Stamp A Stack!  Ready to go and over 2 1/2 hours before we start!!

Being its Saturday its also time for another Utah Divas Sketch Challenge!

Here is today’s sketch …

DSC #162

Utah Divas Sketch #162

“Cool” sketch hey?? Doesnt it immediately make you think Christmas and Snowmen or Penguins??  That was too obvious so I had to go a little different but still stuck with the Christmas theme ;)   Although I might still make a Christmas Penguin or Snowman card during the week if I have time. I have a busy week coming up with preps for Dad’s 80th Birthday and then my neices’ wedding on Sunday. Then because I wont have enough to do I’m starting Monday Project Classes on the Monday – Tuesday I sleep!!

Enough of my ramblings …. Here’s my card …

Pastel Joy

I have had this stamp since August when we could pre-order from the new 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalogue – I love nativity sets and this is the first one we’ve had in  a while so just about squealed when it was available in the pre-order. I just hadnt had the time to use it before now and I’ve also used some of the new Watercolour Paper and its so easy to use and with such little effort.  This is one of the cards the girls will be making today at the Christmas Stamp A Stack – I sure hope they like it!

One of the advantages of being a Demonstrator is being able to see the upcoming catalogues and ordering them before they are available to the Australian market – like now with the Summer Mini Catalogue starting 1st December I already have the catalogue and some of the gorgeous new items available. So if you’d like to also be able to see whats coming up please contact me today about joining my gorgeous Stamp A Latte Team!

Now dont forget to check out what the other designing Divas have created and you will find the links to their blogs on the Utah Divas International Blog. Dont forget to leave them a little comment love too ;)

Now if youre a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator located you can join the Utah Divas International group on Facebook.

Dont forget we still have the ‘Sale to Die for’ happening – selected Big Shot dies and embossing folders are on sale at 10% off and there’s also a Big Shot bundle including the machine at 10% off as well – these would make awesome Christmas presents and I’ll even wrap them for you!!  Contact me today to place your order!

Birthday Birds

Now that Christmas is over and School is back tomorrow (can you hear the screams of joy??) its time to get back into my working schedule again and get back to creating which I’ve been doing a bit of late and I must say its great to be creating again.  While I needed the break I realise now how much I missed it – I do love my job :)

One of the things that has been neglected of late is the lovely little Summer Mini Catalogue. Its jam packed full of new stamp sets, designer series paper, accessories, Big Shot Dies and a new Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. If you dont have a copy please contact me today and I’ll pop one in the post for you or drop one off if you’re local.

One of the gorgeous new Stamp Sets in this Catalogue is the ‘Aviary’ stamp set (p13). It has 9 stamps in the sets for just $35.95 (clear mount) or $44.95 (wood mount) – thats less than $5 per stamp for the wood mount and even less if you buy the clear mount!

Its one set my teen daughter loves and when she was going to a birthday day out with a friend yesterday she asked for a card using that set and I must say I had lots of fun using it!

Here’s the card she gave to Stephanie …

I wanted something quick and simple so I could then use it as a Stamp A Stack card and this one fits the bill dont you think?

I really liked this one but wanted to show the other stamps in the set too and I love the stand in it so I then made this ..

Can you tell Caitie loves the owl?  This one I only used half the ‘stand’ for the blue cage otherwise it would have been too tall so I just inked as high as I wanted it then stamped the cage on top. So easy with the new clear mount stamps I must say!

Now if you’d like to make one of these cards or even several why not contact me today to book in your Workshop or Stamp A Stack.

So what’s the difference between a Workshop and a Stamp A Stack?

Workshop – a Workshop is a free Demonstration for you and your guests and I will demonstrate a couple of products and projects and everyone at the Workshop gets to make one project to keep and take home. Approximate time of a Workshop is 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Stamp A Stack – you and your guests get to make 8 cards for just $20 per person. Approximate time for a Stamp A Stack is 2 1/2 to 3 hours – depending on the number attending.

Dont forget ….

  • $2 from every stamp set bought for $30 or more gets donated to the Queensland Flood Relief Appeal until 15th February
  • Sale•A•Bration is here – earn free stamps for every $100 purchased or join my team and receive a bonus free Stamp Set from the Idea Book & Catalogue to the value of $79.95
  • anyone placing an outside/mail/telephone/email order before 15th February goes into the draw for a free Cottage Garden stamp set – this is only available through me

Vintage Bliss

Well its been a crazy week and we’ve arrived at another Saturday and that means another Utah Diva Sketch Challenge.

Here is this week’s sketch …

Diva Sketch 119As soon as I saw this sketch I knew what I wanted to do and that was a gatefold card – I just had to decide on what stamp set and colours to use.

Now I need to warn Carol to sit down …. this week I didnt rotate the sketch or anything!!

I fell in love with this set as soon as I saw it and whats even better is you can earn it for free during Saleabration!

I just love that butterfly!

I really love any colour combination with brown and the bashful blue and soft suede go so well together.  This card didnt turn out how I had visioned it in my head but I had a couple of hurdles today so I hope you like what I’ve created.

I love making gatefold cards as they are a little different from a regular card in the opening and so easy  to make. Also, when someone receives one of these cards they just get the loveliest smile on their face.

Bliss Gate open

This last picture shows the card open and as you can see the three little flowers in the top left of the card.  The adhesive pearls go so well on this card and just lift it to such an elegant card.

I do hope you like what I’ve made and now its time to click over to the next Sketchy Diva being Ruthie B!

Here’s a list of all the Sketchy Diva’s …

Enjoy visiting all the Diva’s blogs and checking out their creations and please feel free to play along with the Sketch Challenge please feel free to do so and pop a link in a comment here so I can share it with the other Diva’s.

Dont forget any stamp set you purchase for $30 or more Stampin’ Up! will donate $2 to the Queensland State Emergency Services to help with the relief appeal for the Queensland Floods.

A birdie told me …

Wow the Saturday’s do come around quick dont they – especially when you are on School holidays!

Here is this week’s sketch from the lovely Carol …

Here is my card ….

dsc118bdaybirds

I’ve had the Aviary set since before Christmas but hadnt had the chance to put it to ink before then.  I will warn you though that when you are using this set you may find that those sneaky little birds, as cute as they are, have a tendancy to fly!  I lost one of them for at least 45 minutes and found her perched on a roll of ribbon!  Sneaky little chick!

Its been a very heart-wrenching week here in Australia with Queensland declared at Natural Disaster with huge floods in many areas and with that loss of life, property and businesses. It saddens my heart everytime I think of what has happened there but then I’m also grateful for my family and friends there who are safe.  Then we had fires in Western Australia and now more floods in Victoria – it makes one wonder where it will end.

Stampin’ Up! have announced they will donate $2 from every stamp set (valued at $30 and over) sold between 15th January and 15th February with the funds going to Queensland State Emergency Services. These guys work so hard and most of them are volunteers so if you have some stamps you’ve been meaning to get well now is the time and it will help all those people in Queensland who desperately need the help.

In addition to Stampin’ Up!’s donation I will be donating my commission on the sales of these sets as well and I’ll also pop in an extra $10 donation for anyone holding a demonstration between 15th January and 15th February.

Also, anyone placing an mail, email or phone order (not part of a demonstration or workshop) between 15th January and 15th February will go into a draw for a bonus free stamp set – Every Moment (p72)

So grab your phone and diary and give me a call to book in your demonstration or place your order.

Now its time to skip to the next Diva in the Diva Sketch Team being the lovely Ruthie Burkey

I’m Back ….

Well I’m back from Victoria after a lovely week with family and friends. I’m also back stamping and to the Utah Diva’s Sketch Challenge Team!

I must say it feels good to be back stamping again and seems so long since I’ve stamped yet it really is only a matter of weeks. I felt I was ready to go back to the challenges and when I asked Carol she so graciously allowed me back so thanks Carol :)

Here is today’s sketch ….

what a cool sketch to come back to hey? and just so Carol realises how much she missed me on the Sketch Team I had to rotate it!

Here’s my card …

I have a beautiful friend who is having a birthday this week and she’s had a hard year so thought I’d make her a special card for her special day. I do hope she likes it.  I just love the new Vintage Brads and the new Crochet Trim! These are both ‘must haves‘ so ring or email me today to order yours!

I must add here that I am ever so grateful for a fellow Diva, Gretchen Barron for her blog post about the mat sizes for the Scallop Trim Border and Corner punches – thanks so much Gretchen!  Dont ask how much Chocolate Chip cardstock I wasted trying to do it on my own!

Now your next stop in the Diva Sketch Team is the very lovely Ruthie B so pop over to her blog for her gorgeous creation and dont forget to leave the girls (and me) some comments – we love comments as they just make us all warm and gushy inside!

Dont want to miss any of the team then here’s the full list ….

Just Borders

No I’m not talking about the Bookstore – although its a very lovely bookstore and always nice for a visit and a cuppa :)

Wow its been a while – so much has been happening!  Today was one that was a bit emotional as my mum was placed in full time care as she has been diagnosed with Dementia and it seems to be progressing alot quicker than we’d have liked. From all accounts the move went very smoothly and she has a lovely big room to herself and took little time in asking me to make up a ‘memory chain’ for her.

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve also had my good friend Libby join my Stampin’ Up! team – you can check out her new blog here. I am so excited to have her join my team – Libby and I originally met online and have been good friends for quite some years now so its very exciting to be taking this journey together. Last Sunday we had her Business Launch  and it was great to see her friends support her.

We made two make n takes – one was the Christmas Box in a Bag I shared last week and the second was a very elegant but very easy card using the Just Believe stamp set and one of the lovely border punches Stampin Up! sells. Here is the same card but in different colours and showing three of our Border punches ….

scallopedbelievetrio

How nice is this card?  I purposely left off a greeting so the card can be used for any occasion – think I might even send my mum one just because I can!

Now for some close ups of the cards ….

scallopedbelievepeach

This card above is done in Peach Parfait and I’ve used the very lovely Whisper White Organza Ribbon and the Eyelet Border Punch.

scallopedbelieveblushing

This card is using the very lovely Blushing Bride – one of my new favourite colours! I’ve used the Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon and the new Scallop Trim Border Punch – I love this new punch!

scallopedbelievemist

Now I am just loving Marina Mist! I’ve used the Marina Mist cardstock for the base and the beautiful Marina Mist Satin Ribbon. Now look at the border on this one! I’ve used the very new Pinking Hearts Border Punch which you will be able to purchase from the upcoming Summer Mini Catalogue which starts 1st December – just in time for Christmas!

Now mark this date in your diary – Saturday 4th December, 2010. I will be holding a launch for the Summer Mini Catalogue and there will be door prizes and special bonuses for anyone who places an order at the launch. There’ll even be a little Christmas surprise for all who attend. Be sure to mark it in your diary now and let me know youre coming!

Soul Scrappers Technique Challenge 6B

Good Morning!!

Its been a rather hectic week this week and hoping I do catch up to Friday very soon! I’d hate for Saturday to start and me still being stuck on Wednesday – that just wouldnt be fair!!

Its my turn again to host the Technique Challenge over at the Soul Scrappers forum that was started up by the lovely Erika Martin. We have over 500 members there now in just two months so thats an awesome achievement on its own! There are lots of Challenges, Sketches, ideas and wonderful people to share their talents and help so if you are a scrapper 0r even if you’d like to be a scrapper then pop over to the Soul Scrappers forum and check it all out!

My Technique Challenge this week is to create your own Designer Series Papers using your stamps. Being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator I love the papers they have and how they all coordinate with the colour families and stamp sets but sometimes you want a paper just a bit different or maybe in different colours.  So today I’m going to share with you how to make your own papers using your stamps and inks.

Supplies needed:

  • Cardstock,
  • Inks (I used Versamark, Mellow Moss, Pretty in Pink, Almost Amethyst and Apricot Appeal)
  • stamps (I used Vintage Vogue and En Francais)
  • Stamp a majig
  • chalks ( i used versamark and chalk for the script in the centre)

I love using my stamps to create designs and the perfect patterned paper for my layout.  This way I can have colours that match my photo’s and I can make my own embellishments and accents and not only that – you know that no one else will have this designer paper you create yourself!

Technique Instructions:

  • Start off with a piece of plain cardstock.  You could use any colour however I found those of the Soft Subtle family and lighter shades would be  better as you need to see the design youre creating!  I tend to use Whisper White or Very Vanilla  as my base and then build these up with colour.
  • I first used the swirl from Baroque Motifs to create my border. You can use the stamp a majig to do this too so that you get the right swirl in the right place if you wish but you really cant go wrong with this stamp!
  • Then I inked up the larger flower from Vintage Vogue (Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue) and stamped randomly in Pretty in Pink. I then did the same using Apricot Appeal. I then used the smaller flower to ‘fill in the gaps’ using Barely Banana and Almost Amethyst.
  • I then tore up scrap paper to cover where I’d stamped and filled the centre in using the En Francais background with Versamark. I then grabbed my pastels and my handy sponge and ‘popped’ the script. Doing the centre this way gives it a softer hue rather than stamping it in the Creamy Caramel ink.
  • Now look at your page and see if you are happy with the result. You may feel the need to fill in any ‘white space’ either by sponging or adding some more small flowers or maybe some leaves.

I was rather happy with the result of this page and was a little hesitant to put a photo over it!

I was strong and placed the photo on a Pink Pirouette mat  – I’ve also used some rub-ons on the photo but what I did was put the white part of the same rub on up the top left of my photo and the opposite dark part over the bottom right corner and onto the Pink Pirouette mat.

I didnt add much to this layout as I didnt want to detract from the Designer Paper I’d just created and sometimes less really is more!

I made a couple of flower accents from the Vintage Vogue (Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue). One small one down on the bottom left and then layering both flowers in colours from the layout and a button from the lovely Sherbet Designer buttons.

my matching flower embellishmentFrom this close up you can see that I’ve stamped the larger flower in Pretty in Pink and the small flower in Barely Banana. I’ve then adhered the button to the top. I’ve cut a very thin slither of Apricot Appeal cardstock and threaded it through the button holes and tied it. Now you need to be careful not to pull the knot too tight as the cardstock will break and I know this for a fact!

I do hope you like this challenge and I now challenge you to make a layout using your stamps. You can then leave me a comment and insert the link to your image online or email me a photo of your layout.

Why not pop over to the Soul Scrappers forum and upload your challenge there – there is always a winner each challenge and a small prize. You can find the messages about this challenge here. Its free to join and there really are some wonderfully talented ladies there who share, encourage and inspire!

If you would like to learn how to do this Technique then why not come along to my Scrap A Latte Summer Flower Layout class on 7th April. Class is $15 and I provide all the supplies you will need. Bookings are essential as I only have a small house and seats are limited. There is no need to bring any photo’s as you can add them later.

Dont forget that the Summer Mini Catalogue and Sale A Bration finish on 31st March and you only have till then to …

  • order anything you still want from the Summer Mini Catalogue
  • earn free Sale A Bration stamp sets
  • receive bonus stamp set to the value of $79.95 when you join my Stampin’ Up! team

Sale A Bration Spectacular Update

Well what an awesome day Saturday was at our SaleABration Spectacular!

We had 46 people come for the day and we all had lots of fun and all the ladies worked hard making all those projects we’d set up for them – they made 8 projects in all and with quite a few going home with door prizes or raffle prizes!

Here is a slideshow of how things looked before everyone arrived ….

Here are the make n takes that I made for the day ….

There were 8 make n takes in all and the other six were created by my lovely fellow demonstrators – Lisa, Jossleen and Clare.  We had some make n take kits leftover so I managed to grab a couple of kits so I can make up the make n takes too.  Now I have some of my kits left over so if you’d like a kit for the above make n takes then please email me with your address and I’ll post them to you.

I do hope those who were there on the day had as good a time as I did!
