Oh So Very Thankful

Good Morning.  Today I have a very special card to share with you.  One that I hope reflects how So Very Thankful I am for those  who made the sacrifice and fought in wars to enable the freedom we enjoy today as we remember our Soldiers today on ANZAC Day.

I was blessed to have won the Oh So Ecclectic Stamp Set at On Stage earlier this month and it’s perfect for today’s card and the sentiment from Rose Wonder says all I need to say ..

ANZAC Poppy using Oh So Ecclectic by Leonie Schroder Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Australia

About the Poppy …

The red poppy is worn as a sign of remembrance.

The red represents the blood of all those who gave their lives, the black represents the mourning of those who didn’t have their loved ones return home, and the green leaf represents the grass and crops growing and future prosperity after the war destroyed so much. The leaf should be positioned at 11 o’clock to represent the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, the time that World War One formally ended.

Anzac Day …

Anzac Day, 25 April, is one of Australia’s most important national occasions. It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War.

ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. The soldiers in those forces quickly became known as Anzacs, and the pride they took in that name endures to this day.

In 1915 Australian and New Zealand soldiers formed part of the expedition that set out to capture the Gallipoli peninsula in order to open the Dardanelles to the allied navies. The ultimate objective was to capture Constantinople (now Istanbul), the capital of the Ottoman Empire, an ally of Germany.

The Australian and New Zealand forces landed on Gallipoli on 25 April, meeting fierce resistance from the Ottoman Turkish defenders. What had been planned as a bold stroke to knock Turkey out of the war quickly became a stalemate, and the campaign dragged on for eight months. At the end of 1915 the allied forces were evacuated from the peninsula, with both sides having suffered heavy casualties and endured great hardships. More than 8,000 Australian soldiers had died in the campaign. Gallipoli had a profound impact on Australians at home, and 25 April soon became the day on which Australians remembered the sacrifice of those who died in the war.

Although the Gallipoli campaign failed in its military objectives, the actions of Australian and New Zealand forces during the campaign left a powerful legacy. What became known as the “Anzac legend” became an important part of the identity of both nations, shaping the ways in which they viewed both their past and their future.

Lest We Forget …

They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

To those of you who had family that went to war and did not return – We will Remember Them,  We will wear our poppies with pride and immense thanks for their sacrifice.

For those enjoying today as a Public Holiday – please educate those around you and your children so they will never be forgotten and our freedom never taken for granted.

ESAD Retiring Products Blog Hop

Welcome to the ESAD Retiring Products Blog Hop for 2017!

I hope you take the time to hop around all the blogs today and enjoy the gorgeous creations showing some of the items on the 2017 Retiring Products List.

So you may be wondering what ESAD is .. well here’s some information …

If you are a demonstrator in Australia or New Zealand or thinking about becoming one be sure to ask me for more details on this great supportive group I run.

If you need an up to date copy of the Retirement List you can download one here.

It’s long hey?  and there’s lots of things already sold out so if you see anything today be sure to get your order in so you dont miss out.

With the list being so long it was hard to pick something to highlight today but I thought well I should use something that’s going that I hadnt used yet so I chose to share some cards using the Oh So Succulent Suite …

Oh So Succulent Suite ..

Did you know some of the Retiring Products are discounted up to 50%?  Did you also know that the Oh So Succulent Stamp Set and Succulent Framelits are 20% off and the Designer Series Paper is 40% off?  So that makes the Stamps $29.20, The framelits $49.80 and the Designer Series Paper is just $11.55 – so all three items for just $90.55 – now that’s a Bargain!!

I must say how lovely this set and suite is to work with and wonder now why I waited so long but with so many gorgeous products it’s hard to use them all!

Now let’s see the projects I’ve made for you …

I loved making these cards last night – much more fun and less frustrating than watching the football – at least I know my stamps will do what they are supposed to do every time!

This one is a tall single layer card and a fun one to do and it will different every time you stamp it.  I’ve used a little rock and roll technique on my background stamps to get the tones you get in succulents.  I love that our 2 step stamps are Photopolymer as it makes it so easy to line them up.

How bright and pretty is this card?  I found this card on Kimberly’s blog and I had to case it.  It’s like a bird’s eye view of a succulent garden.  I’ve also used the Baby Wipe Technique on the layered succulents – that technique is so much fun!

Now of course, I left my favourite to last!   The background on this card is done with the spritzed marker block technique and I added some splatter using the Touches of  Texture Stamp Set.  This technique creates such a easy but subtle background – perfect for my succulents.

This is the little window box from the Hearth and Home framelits that I’ve used as my ‘planter’.  I’ve then just done some succulents using my markers to add extra colour to the stamp before stamping.  I love those chain of pearls – my grandmother used to have them indoors – loved them and they’d get so so long!

I do hope you’ve liked my cards today and now it’s time to hop on over to the next blogger being the lovely Kristel Rimmer

Here’s the complete list of all the ESAD members blogging for you today ..

Thanks for stopping by and please leave the ladies some love via a comment so they know you’ve been by and visited.

Daisy Delight

Good Afternoon.   Today I have another card for you from my On Stage Presentation using the gorgeous Daisy Delight Stamp Set. Daisy Delight by Leonie Schroder Independent Stampn' Up! Demonstrator Australia

This card is sweet and fun to make. Super Easy with the Daisy Delight Stamp Set and you’ll get perfectly positioned images every time being that the set is Photopolymer Rubber.

Daisy Delight Tip …

Now when I was stamping the above card I had a thought – scary I know!  Now I wondered if it would work if I overstamped the daisy and off set the petals.   So I had a go …

Daisy Delight by Leonie Schroder Independent Stampn' Up! Demonstrator Australia

Oh my gosh .. I was so happy it worked so well!  It also gives the flowers a more intense colouring towards the centre of the petals.

Did you know our little 1/2″ Circle punch will mask the centre of the flower perfectly.  Simply punch the circle from a piece of post-it note and it’s easy to move for each stamping.

Once you’ve stamped your Daisy Petals simply use the centre stamp over the middle and you are done!

Daisy Delight by Leonie Schroder Independent Stampn' Up! Demonstrator Australia

These cards are super easy to create and it would be easy to create a set as a gift.  You could use different sentiments or the same sentiment with different colours.  Too easy!

So the choice is yours – you can do single or double daisies … or even both!

Although my nerves ran riot after lunch I had the best time sharing all my Delightful Daisy projects with everyone at On Stage.   It really helped having some of my Team there cheering me on – they may have gone a little overboard considering all I asked was for some ooh’s and aah’s but I wouldnt have them any other way!

Dont forget, you can be one of the first to get the new Catalogue – simply contact me or complete this registration form to go onto the Catalogue Mailing List and if you register by 4th May your catalogue will ship from 18th May so you could actually get your copy before it goes live!  You may also wish to register for my New Catalogue Crafternoon where I’ll be sharing the new Catalogue and some of the lovely new products.

More with Markers – Thumping

Good Morning ! I do hope you are well and having a lovely week.  I have another Marker Technique for you today called Thumping and I’ve used the everlasting Lovely as a Tree Stamp Set …

Thumping Lovely as a Tree - Leonie Schroder Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Australia

I do love this technique and it really is quite easy to do. It also gives such lovely and varied results.

Thumping Technique ..

  1. Colour your tree foliage with the lighter colour (I used Crushed Curry)
  2. Then using a tapping motion (like thumping a drumstick) randomly tap with other colours – use as many or as little as you like. (I used Wild Wasabi and Cajun Craze)
  3. Colour Trunks with a dark colour (I used chocolate chip)
  4. Colour grass (I used Wild Wasabi)
  5. Huff on your stamp a couple of times (this re-moistens the inks)
  6. Stamp on your piece of cardstock, lift and admire.

It looks cool right?  I then sponged the grassy area with Wild Wasabi and softly sponged Soft Sky above the trees.

I have another Ways with Markers Class on Saturday and have a couple of spots left if you’d like to come along – just comment or message me to let me know so I can make you a kit.  I’d love to have you join us.

Freshly Brewed Projects – Backgrounds with Stamping

Hello and welcome to another week of Freshly Brewed Projects from the Latte Girls! This week we are sharing ways to create your own Backgrounds with Stamping.

I do love to share different ways to use your stamps and how versatile they really can be.   Creating your own backgrounds with your stamps is very quick and easy and makes matching projects easy!

Today I’m using a little of the old and a little of something new coming!   If you havent checked out the Retiring List you can download it here.

So the two stamp sets I’ve used for today’s card are Gorgeous Grunge (retiring – insert sad face ) and Crafting Forever (a gorgeous new set coming in the new Annual Catalogue)

Crafting Forever - Leonie Schroder Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Australia

How gorgeous are those brushes?  This set is full of all sorts of crafty things and it’s our new Angel Policy Stamp Set and we got it as our gift at Centre Stage along with a gorgeous new Apron.

I used a few different splatters from Gorgeous Grunge to create my background. I just subtle colours so I could stamp the sentiment straight onto my card and it wouldnt get lost in the background.

I wont lie to you, I will miss Gorgeous Grunge very much as its perfect for making all sorts of backgrounds and adding a little here and there to your projects.  If you dont have Gorgeous Grunge and would like it I’d suggest you order it sooner rather than later so you dont miss out – so much has sold out already!

Now it’s time to head over to visit Libby and Narelle to see what they’ve created for you this week.

Remember to check out the Retiring List and get your orders in early so you dont miss out on the products you want.
