Birthday Punches

Remember when you were growing up and you had a birthday and you’d get as many punches as you were old??

Man I’m glad we dont still do that or I would have been covered in bruises the other week!

Today I bring you ‘pretty’ Birthday Punches!  You may have noticed the new triple layer punches we now carry and today I’m sharing a card from Friday’s workshop where we used the new Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch.

How sweet are these two cards? and what a difference the change in colour of cardstock makes!

This card is definitely one of my ‘Queasy’ cards …. actually I think it falls under the ‘Squeasy’ category – Super Quick and Super Easy!!

Recipe
Stamps: Curly Cute
Inks: Melon Mambo
Paper: Concord Crush, Bashful Blue, Whisper White, Cheerful Treat DSP (Hostess)
Accessories: 1 1/4″ Square Punch, 1 3/8″ Square Punch, Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch, Stampin Dimensionals, Rhinestone Jewels

I simply used square punches for the bottom of the present and then used the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch for the ‘bow’ on the present. See Super easy!

Here is the exact same card where I’ve just changed the Bashful Blue layer for Melon Mambo and what a striking difference it has!

This card would be perfect with any of our Designer Series Papers and just match the colours of your cardstock with those used in the packs.

All the colours used in each pack are noted in your Idea Book & Catalogue for easy reference for you and everything is designed with Stampin’ Up!’s wonderful colours so its easy for you to make perfectly coordinated projects – makes life so much easier dont you think?

Flirtatious Doilies

Well where has this week gone??  I swear yesterday was Sunday!!

I do know today is Friday though as I have a fun workshop happening tonite!

Are you loving the new Catalogue? I know I am .. now I originally thought I wouldnt need to buy the Delicate Doilies stamp set as it wasnt my ‘cup of coffee’ however after seeing so many gorgeous samples I had to get me one!!  Its so versatile and the two cards I’m sharing with you today and you’ll probably be surprised to know that I’ve even made a dude card with it!!

This first card is such a sweet card all in Pinks!

I just selected one of the patterened papers from the Flirtatious Specialty Designer Series Papers and went with the colours in there.

Recipe

Stamps: Flirtatious, Happiest Birthday Wishes
Inks: Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose
Paper: Regal Rose, Whisper White, Flirtatious Specialty DSP
Accessories: Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon

For the second card I chose to go with one of the purple papers from Flirtatious – seriously how could I not??

Recipe

Stamps: Flirtatious, Happiest Birthday Wishes
Inks: Elegant Eggplant, Wisteria Wonder
Paper: Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White, Flirtatious Specialty DSP
Accessories: Very Vanilla Seam Binding, Scallop Circle Punch, 1 3/4″ circle punch, 1 1/4″ circle punch, 3/4″ circle punch, Dimensionals

Step it Up ~  add rhinestones, pearls, paper flowers or glitter – or all of the above.

Leafy Green

Oh my … I just checked and my last post was on 21st June!!  My apologies for being so tardy :/

We’ve had a rough week here with my Father in Law passing away early Sunday 3rd August and we had the funeral on Friday 8th July.  He was 96 years old and being the fanatical cricketer he was he would agree that he had ‘a good innings’!  Its always the good cricketers that are always out just before their 100 is it not? Being a veteran soldier he was given a lovely tribute by the local RSL and they also held the wake for him at no cost to the family which was very nice. It was a long emotional day but I do think Pop would have been proud. I must say though that “The Last Post” has not affected me they way it did Friday before and I dare say each Remembrance Day will be the same.

Onto a brighter note …

Here’s a card I made using the gorgeous Growing Green Stamp Set.  Sometimes it is hard to see uses for a stamp set full of flowers other than cards with flowers so wanted to share this idea with you ….

I originally  created this for a dude card however I’ve been informed that its not a dude card but a dudette card!

I’m thinking I might recreate this into a dude card using some Crumb Cake and replacing the twine bow with maybe some twine wrapped around the River Rock panel.

I just love this set as its images are just so lovely to water colour and as you can see it could be used for either male or female cards – regardless of what your kids say ;)

This is another of those queasy cards which are suitable for any occasion at all.

I do hope you like this card and would love to hear what Stampin Up! sets you like to use for both male & female cards.

Dont forget that when you spend $100 or more during July you will receive a gorgeous Ice Cream Parlour gift pack of ribbon and buttons absolutely free – thats over $30 worth for free!  So email or ring me with your orders today and grab your free ribbon & buttons.

Sweet & Simple

Firstly I am uber happy to report that my Sydney Swans last night were victorious overe the Brisbane Lions :)   by a wee margin of 65 points!! Way to go Swannies :)   I mentioned that game in yesterday’s post and I had a few comments saying they hope I enjoy the game and yup I did :)

Now onto today’s share … this is a very queasy card that will be done tomorrow at Sue’s workshop. Its a case of a card sample in the Idea Book & Catalogue (p69) and since the card in the catalogue was a small gift card I upscaled it to a regular sized card for the workshop.

When choosing the colours I remembered the pretty colour challenge #158 from Stamping 411

How pretty are these colours together … very ‘springy’ dont you think?

So here’s my card …

Recipe
Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes
Inks: Real Red
Paper: Whisper White, Peach Parfait, So Saffron, Real Red
Accessories: Stampin Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots, Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, Jewels – Pearls, Stampin Write Markers – Certainly Celery, Real Red, Peach Parfait, So Saffron

I do hope you like this card and now I’d best be off to make up the kits for tomorrows Workshop!

Have a wonderful Sunday

Christmas Pals

I suppose you dont want me to tell you thats its just 6 months till Christmas do you??  mmm didnt think so!

I do a regular Stamp A Stack for my sister and she has at least one Christmas card each time as this way by the time Christmas comes around she’ll have a nice supply of Christmas cards and wont get the ‘Christmas Overload’ before it actually gets here!

Last week we made these two cards …

I love these cards and the simple design – makes for a lovely ‘queasy’ Christmas Card! All you need to create these lovelies is one stamp set, 3 colours in cardstock, 2 inks, one roll of ribbon and markers – too easy!

I love the funky designs in the Punch Pals stamp set and these cards are even easy enough for the kids to do too!

I love this tree!

I’ve just stamped the image in Jet Black Stazon then using my Stampin Write Markers I use the fine point and fill in the outline of the stamp. I then use my handy Aqua Painter to pull the colour to the centre of the image.

So So Easy!

Who doesnt love a cute snowman card at Christmas?

Sample clean & simple layout just change the image!

Again I’ve stamped in Jet Black Stazon and then used my Stampin’ Write markers to colour the outline of the image. I find you really cant beat Tempting Turquoise for snow!

Now when you pull the colour from the images and you find there’s not enough colour just grab your Classic Ink Pad and squish the pad before opening and then use the ink from the inside of the lid to add a little more colour with the Aqua Painter.  Be sure to water the ink down as you dont want it too dark and spoiling the subtlety of the image.

To do this just give your Aqua Painter a squeeze to let some water through and then just mix it with the ink on the lid. Now if its real watery be sure to soak up the excess water with a tissue or paper towel before closing your pad – you dont want to water down the ink pad!

I love these two cards and I havent even done a penguin one yet – bet remedy that I think!! I lurv penguins :)

I hope you like these Christmas cards and if you’d like to do these at a Workshop or Stamp A Stack then please dont hesitate to contact me to book in your date!

Perk Up!

MMm I’m so lethargic at the moment I could use a Perk Up!!

You may remember on Wednesday I shared my ‘ikky’ Christmas Card and much to my surprise many of you liked it or maybe you were all just being nice and letting me down gently.

Anywho I loved that design and the card I’m sharing today actually is the first one I made in this design and fell in love with it – I made it for Nancy’s workshop last Friday and all her ladies loved the card and also happened to fall in love with the Lap of Luxury Designer Series Paper as well – funny that!

Here’s the card …

Oh how I love pink and purple together! I just love the Lap of Luxury DSP and will be sad to see it go in just 3 months! Oh my thats not long at all is it? So you’d better start stocking up now I think!

Now because you were all so lovely with the comments on my Christmas card I thought I’d share instructions on this card with you all so you can see just how easy it is to make.

You will need ….

  • A5 piece of cardstock for Base – I used Concord Crush
  • 4 strips of DSP 145mm x 50mm
  • Whisper White 60mm x 60mm
  • Concord Crush 65mm x 65mm
  • Pretty in Pink Scrap
  • Jet Black Stazon Ink
  • Concord Crush Classic Ink
  • Inks/Markers/Crayons for colouring
  • Curly Label punch
  • Morning Cup Stamp Set

Step by Step

  1. Fold A5 card in half & burnish with bone scorer
  2. Fold front of card back to fold line & burnish with bone scorer
  3. open card and layout & adhere dsp to sections (refer to image below for the patterns I used) and set aside
  4. Stamp Coffee Pot, mug and steam on whisper white
  5. colour as desired
  6. Adhere Whisper White layer to Concord Crush piece
  7. Stamp ‘Perk Up’ sentiment in Concord Crush onto Pretty in Pink piece & punch out using Curly Label punch. Adhere this piece to the back of your concord crush piece. Apply adhesive just behind the left side of the panel and adhere to front folded piece and your card is done!

You will notice on the above image of the opened card I used two pink pieces in the centre of the card – I’ve done this so you can easily write your message here and you have two panels if you need it. This way when the card is closed the message remains hidden.

I hope you like this card as much as I do and it really is a queasy design to do yet people who recieve them think they are wonderful as they are just a little different.

Let me know if you have any problems with the instructions and please share a link to the cards you make in this design as I’d love to see them by adding a comment and popping the link in there or email me a copy.

Well yes I know today is Sunday but I really wanted to do this week’s Sketch from Utah Divas International Sketch Challenge.

I have been on the go since Convention finished last weekend and went for a quick trip over to see my family in Cobden, Victoria and pop in to see my mum in the nursing home – a rather emotional time.

Then Tuesday it was driving back to Avalon to catch my flight home but not before having a nice relaxing lunch with the lovely Mel Sharp – thanks Mel for coming and keeping me company at Avalon – just as well it was Tuesday and not Wednesday ey??

Wednesday I just relaxed and tried to catch up on some sleep then it was back into creating cards and making up kits for a Workshop on Friday night and today I’ve been busy creating & cutting up kits for tomorrow’s Workshop – see told you I’ve been busy!

Soooo … without further ado here is this week’s Sketch ….

Another Nature Walk

Good Morning!

Well today will be a mad rush to ensure I’ve packed everything and done everything I need to do before tomorrow’s flight to Melbourne for the Stampin’ Up! Convention which starts on Thursday.

I wanted to pop in and share a card I made a little while ago using the Nature Walk Stamp Set and the Tulip Frame Embossing Folder both new in the Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue.

I wanted to show how you can use the Tulip Frame Embossing Folder for making various sized frames and mats.

You simply cut your cardstock to a little larger than the mat/frame you want and line up 2 or 3 edges of the cardstock with the frame and run it through the Big Shot.

Then you line up the other edges and the pattern you’ve just created and run it half way or 2/3′s through the machine and then wind it back – dont put it all the way through as the last part will flatten what you did in the first pass. Oh I hope that makes sense … if not drop me a line and I’ll do some instructions when I get back from Melbourne.

This is a very queasy card and I’ve just used my Stampin Write markers to colour in the flower stamp and stamp it straight down and then stamp a sentiment at the bottom.

As you can see you could use this card for any occasion at all from Sympathy to Birthday to Get well.

Now I’d better get back to that to-do list so I dont leave anything behind tomorrow!
