Holiday Lineup

As you know Sunday I decided I should really sit down and make me some cards and so I went to my drawer to find a set I hadnt used much for Christmas and Holiday Lineup seemed to be jumping and saying “pick me” … “oh oh .. pick me”.  So I did!!

I wanted a design that was fairly quick and easy as I needed to make a few.  I came up with a design I liked and then thought it was missing something and sat back and looked at it and thought … hmm it needs an embellishment of some sort.  I added a bow and wallah .. this is what I came up with….

Now for a closer view …

The Carolers

Christmas Door

Good Afternoon!!  Well the sun is out and the girls are playing nicely together so I’m enjoying this moment while it lasts!!

As I was making cards for me to send out I realised I had a card that I havent shared with you yet. Which is pretty sad considering its a card I started doing at my Christmas Stamp A Stacks last year! Its a wonderful quick and easy card and one I cased from the very lovely Jacque Pedersen in New Zealand.

Its simply a matter of spongeing and layering pieces of Whisper White cards to create the door then stamp & cut out the wreath from Welcome Christmas and attach a Merry Tag and a little ribbon. Oh and dont forget to add a brad for the door handle or no one will be coming inside!!  Can it get much easier than that??

Now when I was redoing the card the other day I thought the green wreath doesnt really come out on the green cardstock so I thought I’d ink up the wreath in Old Olive and then grab my Cherry Cobbler marker to do the berries and pop it on some Whisper White ……

I think it stands out a little more?

Now not all wreaths have little knotted bows like mine but have a great big bow on the wreath – a bit like this ….

Yes!! I think I like this one the best – which one do you like??

Dont forget the December Frenzy is still happening so if you have any money left you might like to take a look and grab a bargain as some things are up to 50% off!!

December Frenzy - grab a bargain now and save!!

Now as my Christmas Gift to you I am offering free postage on all orders from now until 31st December, 2011.  So click the banner above and check out the sale and see what you ‘need’ and email or ring me to place your order.

Lovely as a (Christmas) Tree

I know this set has been around forever but I just love it!  It makes great Christmas and Masculine cards :)

At Sunday’s Christmas Stamp A Stack I showed the card that I have made each year ….

Christmas Trees

I wanted to show the girls who came how to start with a simple design like the Treescape above and then add other elements to it. So we started with the Treescape with the moon and then we added a greeting and Dasher ….

Christmas Trees with Dasher

Here we started with the Treescape & Moon and then added the Sleigh kids from ‘Welcome Christmas’ and a sentiment …

Christmas Trees with Sleighing Kids

You may notice the top card here has a sunset instead of a moon which was just dont using sponges and ink pads.

OOO Pretty Tree!

I thought I’d pop in today and share a card made using another couple of challenges …

Firstly this week’s Utah Divas Colour Challenge ….

Combined with this week’s Cards & Things Sketch Challenge

Now I am expecting a gigle when my lovely friend Lisa reads this post!

The tree on my card reminds me of our ‘road trip’ to the Stampin Up! Convention in 2009 in Canberra. As we were driving into Canberra Lisa was sitting behind me going ‘Ohhh purty trees’ and was getting a wee bit excited …. or maybe it was because it was her first time away from all three children and hubby in some time?

Here’s my card …

Purty Tree

Recipe:
Stamps
: Lovely as a Tree
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Tangerine Tango, More Mustard, Very Vanilla, Regals Paper Stack
Inks: Chocolate Chip, Tangerine Tango, More Mustard
Accessories: Stampin Write Markers, Stampin Sponges, 1/4″ Grosgrain ribbon

This is another ‘queasy’ card to put together and really is suitable for any occasion and for both males and females.

Now dont forget we still have the Flood Relief Appeal going – when you purchase stamp sets to the value of $30 or more Stampin Up! will donate $2 to the Queensland Flood Relief Appeal. You have until 15th February to get your orders in to help with that.

Vintage Bliss

Well its been a crazy week and we’ve arrived at another Saturday and that means another Utah Diva Sketch Challenge.

Here is this week’s sketch …

Diva Sketch 119As soon as I saw this sketch I knew what I wanted to do and that was a gatefold card – I just had to decide on what stamp set and colours to use.

Now I need to warn Carol to sit down …. this week I didnt rotate the sketch or anything!!

I fell in love with this set as soon as I saw it and whats even better is you can earn it for free during Saleabration!

I just love that butterfly!

I really love any colour combination with brown and the bashful blue and soft suede go so well together.  This card didnt turn out how I had visioned it in my head but I had a couple of hurdles today so I hope you like what I’ve created.

I love making gatefold cards as they are a little different from a regular card in the opening and so easy  to make. Also, when someone receives one of these cards they just get the loveliest smile on their face.

Bliss Gate open

This last picture shows the card open and as you can see the three little flowers in the top left of the card.  The adhesive pearls go so well on this card and just lift it to such an elegant card.

I do hope you like what I’ve made and now its time to click over to the next Sketchy Diva being Ruthie B!

Here’s a list of all the Sketchy Diva’s …

Enjoy visiting all the Diva’s blogs and checking out their creations and please feel free to play along with the Sketch Challenge please feel free to do so and pop a link in a comment here so I can share it with the other Diva’s.

Dont forget any stamp set you purchase for $30 or more Stampin’ Up! will donate $2 to the Queensland State Emergency Services to help with the relief appeal for the Queensland Floods.

Time

Time is one thing we all seem to crave yet can never get enough of!

I was so glad to see the Sense of Time stamp set included in the new 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalogue. Its a great set to use for cards for those males in our lives.  I’ve even seen some great feminine cards too and when I do find some ‘time’ I might make a couple.

This card today is one we will be making at tomorrow’s Stamp A Stack.

tagtime

Recipe:
Stamps: Sense of Time, En Francais
Paper: Chocolate chip, Ridinghood Red, Very Vanilla
Inks: Chocolate chip, Sahara Sand, Soft Suede, Basic Gray
Accessories: Stampin Sponges, Corner Rounder, 1 3/8″ circle punch, 1/2″ circle punch, Crop-a-dile, Jumbo Eyelets, Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon, Hemp Twine.

Would you believe that when I started making this card the layers and card base were totally different colours??  I so need some of the new colours to play with and cant wait to get them! Hopefully my orders will arrive early this week.

2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalogue Party

Inspired by …

As you know yesterday I was on a mission to make some ‘male’ themed cards and so after making yesterdays “So Autumn” card I pulled out my Inspired by Nature set as the grass stamp in this set is so good for ‘male’ cards.  I also pulled out Baja Breeze & Not Quite Navy inks and cardstock cos well blue tones are boy tones right?

This is what I came up with …

nqnbirthday

Recipe
Stamps: Inspired by Nature, Occasional Quotes
Paper: Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy, Whisper White
Inks: Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy
Accessories: Big Shot, Top Note Die, Large oval punch, Stampin’ Sponges

So what’s the verdict?  is it male? female? or is it both?

This is another one of those ‘multi use’ cards that if you changed the sentiment it could be used for any occasion.

I did create a few more cards with my Inspired by Nature yesterday so stay tuned as I’ll be showing them on my blog over the next few days. Inspired by Nature is a great set for any occasion and I’m happy to have it continue in the new 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalogue and I really should use it more!

Hope you have a great Saturday despite the rain – but we do need it. If you are in one of the areas thats been affected by flooding then please stay safe.

Now if you happen to pray please pray for those in New Zealand who have been affected by that Earthquake early this morning.  Praying all my New Zealand friends are safe.

We have blog Candy!

All you have to do to be entered into the draw is to visit each blog and leave a comment on each one. Once you’ve done this email me and let me know you’ve fulfilled the requirment and  advised your name, email and location and I will enter you into the draw! How easy is that??

Now onto my project ….

One of the great new sets in the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalogue is called Artistic Etchings and I was lucky enough to be able to pre-order this set – one of the benefits of being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator is being able to pre-order stamps before the catalogues are released to the general public.

Now I wanted to make something more than just a few cards and I’ve mentioned before that I love using the Stampin’ Up! notecards.  So I designed a ‘bag’ that would fit the notecards inside.

briefcasecards

So using the notecard size  I went about designing the little briefcase and I just love how it turned out. I deliberated for quite some time on how to get the briefcase to get the texture of a real bag and decided that it would be easier to just use my stamp pad to create the lines/scratches on it. Then I just stamped some of the images from Artistic Etchings on the case to mimic those luggage bags with stickers and labels on them.

The three little cards fit in the briefcase perfectly and it uses a velcro dot to close the bag.  Here are the cards …

Now as I was making the briefcase and cards I thought of making a concertina passport photo book. I then remembered that my neice and her hubby are currently living in the UK and have made a couple of trips over to Europe and in particular France so I messaged Cath and asked if I could use some of their photo’s to which she was happy to do so.

briefcasepasport

So I set to work on the Passport.  Again I made it the size of the notecards so it would fit in the briefcase – and this way I wouldnt have to make another bag!  I downloaded and printed the photo’s I wanted to use and then set about to create the concertina part. I placed the photo’s without sticking them down so I knew where to put my stamps.Once I’d stamped and sponged the pages I popped the photo’s in and tagged them and I was done.

briefcasepassportopen

The Paris label on the front was printed on cardstock using word and I then attached the frame from the Styled Silver Hodgepodge (which I’m glad is in the new Catalogue) and popped it on the front.  It might look involved but it really was quite easy once I’d worked out where to put what photo.

I do hope you like what I’ve made as I really did enjoy making these two little projects. It’s Cath’s birthday later this month so I’m going to send the briefcase and the passport over to her – I do hope she likes it!

Now its time to head off on your journey to the next Blog that’s part of the hop being the lovely Keryn Campbell from New Zealand (see I knew you’d need a passport!!)

Here’s a list of all the ladies participating in the blog hop just in case one of the links in the posts dont work …

Enjoy your journey around the blogs today and dont forget to leave those comments to qualify for the Blog Candy!
(Sorry Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators can not win the blog candy)

Birthday Whimsy

Today is my sweet baby girl’s 11th birthday!  Hard to believe it was 11 years ago that Miss Emily came into the world – and in a hurry too I might add!! Just over 2 hours labour – eeeeek!  It all seems like yesterday – well ok maybe not yesterday but not that long ago!

Emily has always loved the Garden Whimsy stamp set so I went straight for that set to create her card.

fluttergrass-emily11

When I had the thought of those butterflies I thought them flying through the grass would be a nice effect and I thought what better stamp for grass than the one from Inspired by Nature.  I added a bit of sponging for the grass and added some sponged clouds using the scallop circle punch.

As I had a Stamp A Stack here yesterday I gave hubby the task of doing birthday shopping – brave I know!  He did quite well and just goes to prove he can buy birthday presents after all!

It was then my task last night to create the gift bag to fit the presents in.  I found a tutorial by the lovely Makeesha and just did some tweaking with the measurements to fit the presents in. So two sheets of Sweet Always Designer Series Paper and some ribbon later and we have a bag for the presents!

giftbagcardemily

I just stamped some more butterflies, cut them out and popped them on and whallah :)

I hope she has a wonderful day today as she’s going to bed early tonight after one of her friends slept over last night … well not sure they actually slept so maybe we should call it a giggle-over!!

Birthday Medallion

Today is my hubby’s birthday so I thought I’d break out the Medallion stamp and create something ‘manly’ for him.

I was given the Medallion stamp some time ago and just havent had the chance to play with it.  So I’m sure the girls will be glad to see me using it …….. finally!

distressedkraftmedallion51

I had an image in my mind of what I wanted the card to turn out like and it didnt really turn out as planned but Neil likes it and thats all that matters :)   Where would I be without sponging and tearing??  I am still not sure about this card so I may need to play with the design a little more when I have more time.  Why does it seem we are continually rushing here, there and everywhere?? I think I might need to plan us a little holiday sometime soon ;)

Well hubby had his favourite meal for dinner – Roast Beef and we made him a chocolate birthday cake so all in all a good day – now I’m off to spend some time with the Birthday Boy!

Spring Song

Its been a busy week and with the great Deals of the Week special its also been a good one :)

Today its time for another Utah Divas International Sketch from the lovely Carol.

I struggled with that diagonal panel so I decided to leave it out but I did put the circles on a diagonal.

I’ve used the lovely Spring Song stamp set which I received as a gift from the very lovely Andrea Buckland.

Andrea is a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator in Western Australia and was my Secret Sister in the last round of the ESAD Secret Sister Swap.  She is the lovely lady who has spoilt me over the past three months.

I hope you like this card as much as I did making it. I love that little sparrow!

Recipe
Stamps: Spring Song, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Paper: Always Artichoke, Autumn Days DSP, Soft Suede, Whisper White
Ink: Jet Black Stazon, Baja Breeze, Pretty in Pink, Always Artichoke, Sahara Sand, Soft Suede, Regal Rose, Old Olive.
Accessories: Circle Scissor Plus, 1 1/4″ circle punch, 1 3/8″ circle punch, 1 3/4″ circle punch, Dimensionals, Stamping Sponges, Aqua Painter.

This is such a lovely stamp set and using the softer colours makes it so soft and ‘springy’.  Thank you Andrea for this lovely stamp set.I thought that with the ‘green’ of the card you could still give this to a man and since Father’s Day is coming soon I thought I’d pop a Happy Father’s Day stamp from Teeny Tiny Sentiments on.

I have a demonstration tonight so I best make sure I have everything packed for that!

Now its time to skip over to the next blog of the Utah Divas International Sketch Team being the lovely Maxine Conrad. So leave a comment then pop over to Max’s blog to see what she’s created for this sketch.
