What an honour

I am always amazed at not only how many people visit my blog but those that tell me my blog inspires them!  What an absolute honour it is to know that some I admire also get inspired by my work.

Today I was visiting Bev Mantle’s blog and found that she had awarded me a “Fabulous Blog” award. To say that I was thrilled is an understatement especially with the other blogs she’s listed me with!

FabBlogAward

Now the rules for this award are simple and that I share 5 things I am addicted to and then pass the award onto 5 other lovely blogs.

So for my addictions here goes ….

  1. Stampin Up! (that surprised you didnt it??)
  2. Coffee
  3. Bejewelled Blitz on Facebook
  4. Latte’s
  5. Coffee

Now for the blogs – these are the blogs that inspire me the most. They may not be my closest friends but they do inspire me with their ideas and projects and they are not listed in any particular order.

Thanks so much to Bev for this wonderful award and the blessing of calling her friend!

Wish for Peace

Did you know its only 213 days until Christmas??

lnschall20

Yes you did need to know that – well so my sister thinks. She hosted a Stamp A Stack yesterday for her friends and decided she wanted 3 Christmas cards! I was like you .. Christmas already??? but I dont have any new (Christmas) sets! So I borrowed one from Lisa and another from Jossleen – and would you believe I didnt use either?? but I will make a couple of samples with their sets before I return them.

I did have a little money saved up in my Stampin’ Up! account so I decided to get me the new “A Wish for Peace” stamp set. I love the tradition images in this set and knew my sister’s friends would like it too. We also had a colour challenge on LNS Convention so incorporated that into the card/s.

peace2These are the two cards I made and as you  can see one is coloured and the other isnt, both use the Holiday Treasure DSP along with a little Ridinghood Red Taffeta ribbon.

This one has the ribbon around the DSP layer and tied in a small double knot. peace1

It is also has some coloured daubered onto the trees, church and steeple.

This second card has the ribbon tied with a loose single knot in the middle and wrapped around the Vanilla layer. There is no colouring on the trees or church – which makes this one a very quick and easy christmas card and easy to do at a Stamp A Stack.

Dont forget you only have till Friday to take advantage of the two promotions running in May so work out what 4 packs of DSP you want and get your order and money thru to me so you dont miss out on getting the 4th pack for free!

The ladies loved this card yesterday and I rather like it too and hope you do as well.

Time for Latte me thinks!

Convention Swaps

Can you believe I am ‘still’ trying to get back into the swing of things since returning from the Stampin’ Up! Convention in Canberra! Although, I do believe, some of the problem is dealing with the cooler weather which seems to have just shown up without a warning! I suffer from Fibromyalgia so the colder weather really does affect me to no end – must be time to visit my Dr and get a little extra help for the winter chills. Sometimes I really do think I should have been a bear and then I could just hibernate for the winter.

One of the great things about convention is the swaps. I only had time to make 40 swaps this year so they didnt last very long. These are the cards I made.

tangerinekiwipoppinnature

DSC25

The card made with the Inspired by Nature stamp set I did in a variety of colours and some were done using Poppin Pastels technique and some where done using the Direct to Rubber with the markers.

So although I only did 40 swaps I still returned home with 40 different cards to inspire and case.

Two of the swaps I recieved I did case and use for my Stamp A Stacks last Saturday and Monday and the ladies really loved them too. I cased cards from two special friends – the lovely Kerri Hunter and Nicki Tidbold. These two great demonstrators have become very dear friends through Stampin’ Up! and I am blessed to called them friends.

pottedsilhouettesThis first one is the card I made after casing one of Kerri’s swaps. Its a simple but elegant card and very easy to make and all with just one stamp set – Pocket Silhouettes.

Recipe:

Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes
Inks: Sahara Sand, Basic Black
Paper: Tangerine Tango, Whisper White
Accessories: Stampin Write Markers, Small Oval Punch, Sponges, Dimensionals

pinksquarebloomThis second card was cased from one of Nicki’s Swaps.

This is another simple but elegant card and I’m a great admirer of Nicki’s work. She also did a presentation at convention on making Male themed cards which was awesome – well done Nic!

Recipe:

Stamps: Eastern Blooms
Inks: Regal Rose, Basic Black
Paper: Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Sweet Always DSP
Accessories: Small Oval Punch, Sponge Daubers, Chocolate Chip 1/4″ Grosgrain, Dimensionals, Dazzling Diamonds, 2 way glue pen, Scallop Border punch.

So as you can see Convention is more than just going and attending the business talks and the make & takes – its also about friendships and the swaps!!

Bag-a-licious

Well I’m writing from a very very chilly Canberra which is a very low 5°C right now … only one word for that and thats FREEZING!!!!

I’ve just popped in quickly to share some bags I made before I left for convention.

The first bag is a Bag-a-Lope and is done using the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set and the greeting is from Level 1 Hostess Set Best Yet.The Panel behind the stamped image is done using the Scallop Border Punch and the ‘friend to friend’ sentiment is from the Pocket Silhouettes.  The instructions for the Bag-a-lope can be found at SplitCoast Stampers here

2009fifthbagalopetartboxinabagThe second bag is done using the gorgeous Raspberry Tart Designer Series Papers and is made using the Box in a Bag tutorial also at Splitcoast Stampers. These are super easy to make and I’m more than happy to show you should you wish to hold a demonstration – remember when you host a demonstration you get to keep everything I make on the day. The flowers are from the Flower Fusion kit and are held together with a rhinestone brad.

As a reminder one of the specials for May is the Buy 3 and get one Free! So when you buy 3 packs of Designer Series Papers you get the fourth pack absolutely free!

There is another awesome special for May as well.

If you have ever considered joining Stampin’ Up!® then May is the best time to join.  In celebration of National Scrapbooking Month, join Stampin’ Up! as a demonstrator for only $150 with our limited-time Scrapbooking Starter Kit. The Scrapbooking Starter Kit contains the following:

Dont forget I’ll be announcing my extra special special in line with the Designer Series Paper Promotion on Monday.

It was a very full on day today at Convention but an awesome one at that and I will fill you in more tomorrow if time permits. Tomorrow night sees the Stampin’ Up! Awards dinner where demonstrators are rewarded for achieving particular goals and the top 25 Demonstrators of the Year will be announced. So needless to say I’m looking forward to that – its a great night had by all in attendance – not just those receiving awards.

I’m off to hop into bed and try and get a little more sleep than I did last night – must have been all the excitement for today that kept me awake until 3am last night … now if only the rowdy crowd outside would realise its bedtime too!!

Have a wonderful SAturday!!

Home Again ….

So naturally I had to do some stamping – didnt think I’d miss my stamping so much over the holidays but I must say I have made up for lost time as I’ve had to prepare for 5 workshops with the first today and one every day till Monday. Whew! I think Tuesday I’ll fall down and not get up for a day or two lol!!

I did get home to a tower of mail and packages!

Of course I opened the packages first …. well after unpacking as hubby said I couldnt open them until the bags were unpacked. What a mean man … surely thats some form of abuse? Two of the packages were birthday presents for me … one from my dear friend Makeesha and another from a good friend in USA.

Now [much to all Aussie demo's dismay] I have to tell you I squealed when I opened the package from USA as it had their new Stampin’ Up!® Scallop Border punch!! I’m sure you all heard me squeal and I’m very happy to say that all my customers will be able to order it from the Summer Mini Catalogue which starts December 1 so start saving girls!!

The other birthday box I got was from Makeesha – this ladies just oozes talent and love! I am so blessed to know her and have her as a friend!

This project was posted on Makeesha’s blog yesterday so you’ll be able to pop over there and get the tutorial on how to make these awesome boxes.

She has used the Secret Garden Simply Scrappin’ kit to make this one and I just love the papers and colours in that pack.

The Simply Scrappin kits are full of awesome little goodies that you cant get separately in the Idea Book and Catalogue and I just love scrapping with them as it makes it so easy for you!

Now when you life the lid off you can see how the ribbon is thread through to hold the little love notes and envelopes around the side.

Mind you I did get excited when I opened mine to find not only the gorgeous love notes Makeesha made but also a little box of chocolates and several coffee bags – does this woman know me or what??

I had meant to take this box to today’s demonstration to show the ladies but I did forget to take it along – I’ll have to try and remember to take it along tomorrow!

Here are the gorgeous little love note cards that were in the box along with the lovely birthday card Makeesha made me again using the Secret Garden Simply Scrappin’ kit.

I was so blessed with alot of cards for my birthday so I want to thank everyone who sent me a card – even hubby commented on how many I got this year especially considering he forgot my birthday last year and no he hasnt lived that one down yet! Not sure he ever will ;)

Before I go I want to share with you the layout the ladies made at the demonstration today.

Again its using the Secret Garden Simply Scrappin’ kit and it was inspired by one that Andrea (who also happens to be in my team) did last week.

I do like how this one turned out and the ladies today were impressed with how easy it was but also at how elegant it turns out.

My little girl is growing up hey???

Have a great night and if you’d like to book a demonstration to see the Simply Sent kits in action then please do as I’d love to share them with you!

Enjoy

Enjoy Mini Case

Enjoy Mini Case

I know its been a while since I posted and I do apologise for that – I have been extremely busy with classes, Stamp A Stacks and demonstrations. Not to mention the odd blog I’ve been setting up for friends! You may notice some changes here over the next week or so and would love your comments and thoughts on the changes.

Last week I did a demonstration for a friend who wanted a scrapbook page demonstrated. We did this page which is a ‘case’ from a layout in the Mini Spring Catalogue.

For those who dont know ‘CASE’ simply means Copy And Share Everything!

I figured my customers were sick of seeing photo’s of my girls so I thought I’d share another family member. Now as the ladies were looking at the layout I’d completed one said “Wow you look so different without your glasses on!” I giggled and said yes and five years younger!! That’s my little sister and her hubby in that photo! We were all together for my niece’s wedding in January. Now I’ll soon know if she reads my blog wont I?? :D

As I was copying the layout which I originally thought was a 6×6 layout I worked out the circles to be the same size as the journal stamp and there was no way they’d fit on a 6×6 layout. So I grabbed myself a 12×12 sheet and after laying all the pieces out figured it wasnt a 12×12 either so it could only be an 8×8 layout. Now I know we only have 6×6 or 12×12 albums but I thought we’d still do this as the workshop project and I could then show the ladies how to convert the layout to a 12×12 for their albums.

So here are some samples of what you can do with a smaller layout to make it into a 12×12 layout.

Matted onto Brocade Background DSP

Matted onto Olive

Matted onto Groovy Guava 12x12

Thanks for stopping by … now to wait for my sister’s message ;)

Convertible layouts

I showed you some work I’d made with Brocade Basics the other day which you can find here. This is how I vary my Stamp A Stacks – I tailor them to what the customer wants and these ladies do a 12×12 page and 5 of one card.

PricelessNow my ladies who asked for that layout like doing 12×12 layouts and the one in the Idea Book & Catalogue they chose was just a 6×6 so I went about converting the 6×6 design to a 12×12 layout.

It is the same design as the smaller layout but added just a few more elements so it didnt look so bare.

I have added a flower & extra leaf to the top right of the photo and have added more flowers and more flourish leaves to the bottom left corner of the photo.

I have used the Brocade Backgrounds Designer Series Papers which I love – I love the rich greens & browns and all the swirls, flourishes and designs in these papers make them just so easy to work with – although it is hard to make that first cut or fold! Not to mention they are such great value with 12 sheets of double sided paper for just $11.95 – what a bargain!

IBCcase

This is the card the ladies made and it is deceivingly easy to do!

Its just one stamp on the base card, the stamped flower & greeting, a couple pieces of ribbon, a piece of Designer Series Paper (which is actually from offcuts of the above layout – so a great way to use up those scraps in the drawer) and a button – what could be easier??

I would love to share how these items were made with you so why not arrange your demonstration with me today? Be quick as my diary is filling quickly these days.

Dont forget we still have the Extra Extra Hostess Special until 15th July where you can earn extra hostess benefits so when you book ask me for more details on the extra’s you can get.

LeonieGif4Web

Oh Baby!

Is it just me or does everyone seem to be pregnant at the moment?? well everyone except me – I just thought I’d better make sure there is no reading anything into that opening statement!

bundle of boy

Dont get me wrong … I love babies – they really are a blessing from God and a miracle in the truest form!

Here’s one of two cards that we will be making at a Stamp A Stack this week.

The hostess asked for a baby card so we will do a couple for the boy on the right and the girl baby card is just below – it’s the same design with just a couple of the accents moved and the colours changed so they have a couple for each.

I think that giraffe has to be one of the cutest stamps I’ve seen in a while and so like a soft toy.

These two cards are done using just one stamp set – Bundle of Joy. Its a great set and can be used for birthdays for the early years as well as baby cards.

bundle of girlHere’s the girl card. So as you can see this design is easily adaptable for either a boy or a girl just with the change of blue cardstock & ribbon to pink.

If you are like me and have lots of friends who are pregnant you might like to book in for a Stamp a Stack too so you can get a good supply of baby cards ready to use in the future.

Maybe you’d like to do a class and have a small baby album made up for your friend or family member – we can do a small 6×6 album which would make a very lovely gift.

Email or ring me today and we will discuss what you’d like to do and arrange a date!

To all my beautiful pregnant friends I wish you lots of rest and naps now as you wont get any sleep as you’ll be sitting there looking at your little baby in wonder!

Wild Rose

friendslayoutTomorrow is my first class of the month and this is what we are doing – I do hope the ladies like it.

With the class being so early in the month and so soon after the release of the new catalogue we opted for a stamp set that would be carried over into the new catalogue and use up some of the lovely papers from the 2007 catalogue.

The papers used here are from the Recollections Designer Series Paper which goes so nicely with the Wild Rose Stamp Set used here.

The ladies will be completing this layout and making 5 cards – bit like a build your own Stamp-a-Stack!
