Sweet & Simple

Firstly I am uber happy to report that my Sydney Swans last night were victorious overe the Brisbane Lions :)   by a wee margin of 65 points!! Way to go Swannies :)   I mentioned that game in yesterday’s post and I had a few comments saying they hope I enjoy the game and yup I did :)

Now onto today’s share … this is a very queasy card that will be done tomorrow at Sue’s workshop. Its a case of a card sample in the Idea Book & Catalogue (p69) and since the card in the catalogue was a small gift card I upscaled it to a regular sized card for the workshop.

When choosing the colours I remembered the pretty colour challenge #158 from Stamping 411

How pretty are these colours together … very ‘springy’ dont you think?

So here’s my card …

Recipe
Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes
Inks: Real Red
Paper: Whisper White, Peach Parfait, So Saffron, Real Red
Accessories: Stampin Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots, Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, Jewels – Pearls, Stampin Write Markers – Certainly Celery, Real Red, Peach Parfait, So Saffron

I do hope you like this card and now I’d best be off to make up the kits for tomorrows Workshop!

Have a wonderful Sunday

Diva Sketch Challenge #43

I know its not Saturday anymore – well not here at least – but I did have one of the cards done – just didnt get time to upload it!

Its been a busy week with hubby’s 50th Birthday, a Stamp A Stack, a Demonstration and yesterday was Emily’s 10th birthday and party at one of the local Ten Pin Bowling alley! Man those places are noisy – especially when there are 13 10 year olds running and squealing around the place!! Its one place I’m glad I dont work at!

sketch43Here is this week’s sketch for the Utah Divas Sketch Challenge.

First response by me was ‘oh no more circles!’  Once I got past that then I had a couple of ideas in my head (not much room for too many more!!)

Here is my first card …

I couldnt help myself here – I had to ‘adjust’ the sketch just so that Carol knows I’m ok!

DSC43-SwirledSkiSlope

This is a very easy card to do and I’m quite impressed with the outcome.

The set I’ve used is Snow Swirled and its a recent purchase for this years’ Christmas Card and Stamp A Stacks. The only images I’ve used here are the sentiment and the two snow flakes that I’ve stamped in White Craft Ink and clear embossed.

The main panel of the card is using patterned papers from the new Ski Slope Designer Series Paper pack available in the Spring Mini Catalogue.  Super easy card that anyone can make and I’ll prove it if you invite me over for a demonstration!!

Now for the second card ….

I figured I should make two cards considering I am late with posting – hopefully that will smooth things with the sketch coordinator ;)

I also wanted to use a different colour combination than my usual and chose this one that I found on the Stampin Up Demonstrator site – they always give us a colour combination chart for the current In Colours and I really liked this combo – mind you its not that different from my blue/brown combo I love.

dsc43-colors

DSC43-BajaChocSaffronRustSilhouettesI’ve adjusted the circles and made them ‘elongated‘ circles – or commonly known as Ovals ;)

I love this little Pocket Silhouettes set and really should use it more!

I’ve stamped the stems int he main panel in So Saffron onto Vanilla and layered that onto chocolate chip and then Really Rust. The sentiment is stamped in Baja Breeze and the other stem is stamped in really rust. I’ve used my oval punches to punch the images out and layer them.

Hope you like today’s challenge cards … now its time to prepare for tomorrow’s Stamp A Stack and finish off a new Christmas Card

Convention Swaps

Can you believe I am ‘still’ trying to get back into the swing of things since returning from the Stampin’ Up! Convention in Canberra! Although, I do believe, some of the problem is dealing with the cooler weather which seems to have just shown up without a warning! I suffer from Fibromyalgia so the colder weather really does affect me to no end – must be time to visit my Dr and get a little extra help for the winter chills. Sometimes I really do think I should have been a bear and then I could just hibernate for the winter.

One of the great things about convention is the swaps. I only had time to make 40 swaps this year so they didnt last very long. These are the cards I made.

The card made with the Inspired by Nature stamp set I did in a variety of colours and some were done using Poppin Pastels technique and some where done using the Direct to Rubber with the markers.

So although I only did 40 swaps I still returned home with 40 different cards to inspire and case.

Two of the swaps I recieved I did case and use for my Stamp A Stacks last Saturday and Monday and the ladies really loved them too. I cased cards from two special friends – the lovely Kerri Hunter and Nicki Tidbold. These two great demonstrators have become very dear friends through Stampin’ Up! and I am blessed to called them friends.

pottedsilhouettesThis first one is the card I made after casing one of Kerri’s swaps. Its a simple but elegant card and very easy to make and all with just one stamp set – Pocket Silhouettes.

Recipe:

Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes
Inks: Sahara Sand, Basic Black
Paper: Tangerine Tango, Whisper White
Accessories: Stampin Write Markers, Small Oval Punch, Sponges, Dimensionals

pinksquarebloomThis second card was cased from one of Nicki’s Swaps.

This is another simple but elegant card and I’m a great admirer of Nicki’s work. She also did a presentation at convention on making Male themed cards which was awesome – well done Nic!

Recipe:

Stamps: Eastern Blooms
Inks: Regal Rose, Basic Black
Paper: Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Sweet Always DSP
Accessories: Small Oval Punch, Sponge Daubers, Chocolate Chip 1/4″ Grosgrain, Dimensionals, Dazzling Diamonds, 2 way glue pen, Scallop Border punch.

So as you can see Convention is more than just going and attending the business talks and the make & takes – its also about friendships and the swaps!!

Silhouettes resist

Happy Easter Sunday to you!

easter-cross

I do hope youre having a relaxing Easter Sunday and not gobbling all your chocolate eggs down too quickly like my youngest did – she is a little over the chocolate right now! I’ve only had one piece and already my head is starting to hurt!

I have seen so many gorgeous cards made with Pocket Silhouettes so when I saw it was in our new Idea Book & Catalogue I just had to have it – and its a bargain at just $33.95 for 6 stamps!

stemsilcareHere is a card that I’ve had on my desk in various stages over the past week.

I dont normally do Emboss Resist and I’ve seen a few doing this technique lately so thought I’d have a go too!

I’ve sponged the background in Kiwi Kiss and Baja Breeze after stamping and embossing the silhouettes. The Background on the Pacific Point card is the Friendly Words jumbo wheel which makes an awesome background. The sentiment is from the Level 1 Hostess set Best Yet which is reason enough to hold a demonstration! It has six great sayings in it which I’m sure you will see here throughout the next 12 months!

When I had finished the card it looked a bit bare in the top left corner so I went looking for a butterfly to use and can you believe I dont have one set with a nice little butterfly in it so I’m just going to have to remedy that!

stemsilcarebflyI have Priceless which has a whimsical larger butterfly but that wouldnt have suited this card so I grabbed my retired Live your Dream set and just used that butterfly until I work out which set with a little butterfly I should get!

I stamped the butterfly once on Pink Pirouette and once on Baja Breeze cut them out with my awesome paper snips and mounted them on with the thin edging from the wonderful Stampin Dimensionals so it gives the impression they are in flight.

Here’s a close up of the butterflies so you can see what I mean.

Hope you do have a lovely (and safe) Easter weekend and make some lovely memories with family and friends!
