The Christmas Dash (er)

Well I suppose these are the things that happen when you leave writing your Christmas Cards until 4 days before Christmas …..

There I was yesterday afternoon and last night writing out my Christmas cards. I’d downloaded an app for my iPad to track who I wanted to send to and who I’d recieved a card from so there I was completing names and I was depleting my stock of Christmas cards way too quickly.

I got to the last card – and that was after going through leftovers from last year as well and found I was about 20 too short! Oh my … what is a girl to do?? It was 1am and I didnt want to create a whole new card so popped a few m&m’s and then thought of the Notecards that Stampin Up! have and here is what I came up with …

Dasher Notecards

I went with a simple single layer card and just couldnt go past this Dasher design – I just love it so much.

Now can you believe I did the whole pack of 20 Notecards and envelopes in this design in just one hour?? Its true!

Now if you already had the Lovely as a Tree set which everyone should have – its one of the most have sets all you’d need is Dasher at just $14.95 and a pack of 20 Notecards with Envelopes for just $9.50 makes a very affordable set of Christmas cards.

Now if youre thinking youre going to need something to play with during the holidays why not pop an order in – dont forget the December Frenzy goes until 29th December – just click on the link in my sidebar to see all those awesome deals with some at 50% off!

As a special Christmas Treat I have a couple of ‘festive freebies’ for you ….

  • anyone who places an order of $60 or more between now and 31st December will receive free shipping and handling
  • the first person to place an order of $100 or more before 29th December will receive a bonus free A la Carte stamp set – these are the single stamps that can be found on the inside back cover (p161) of the Idea Book & Catalogue or on page 23 of the Summer Mini Catalogue .

I do hope youre all organised for Christmas or very close to it. I am done and just have to pick up some bread rolls and chickens for Christmas lunch.

Dasher meets Espresso

If you know anything about me you know that my other love is coffee – well with the other being Stampin’ Up! and stamping. So when I got my new booful Dasher a la carte stamp what other colour was I to use but Early Espresso?

This is a card I made for my Christmas Cards with More class which I held last Saturday.

dashereasel I love this colour combination of Early Espresso and Baja Breeze!

The colours just scream ‘winter wonderland’ which is what some countries have at Christmas – unlike us who would have Dasher sweltering next to a big pool of water if not totally immersed in it!

I also love making these Easel cards – they are just too easy and they thrill those who receive them.

The day after my Christmas Cards with more class I had a Stamp a Stack at my sister’s house and was short one design so I’ve just converted the design on the Easel Card to that for a regular card and here it is …

dashertreescape

This again is so so queasy and all the ladies loved it – they loved it so much I think they all bought the Dasher a la carte stamp. The A la Carte stamps are those stamps that are sold individually and can be found inside the back cover of the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalogue  (pages 160 & 161). Dasher is just too cute to resist at just $14.95!

My 13yo daughter was with me on the day and this is the card she’s chosen to make for all her friends – so if a teenager likes it then it has to be ok hey??

Christmas Bauble

Whew!  What a busy few days its been!

I’ve had three days of Stamp A Stacks and talk about busy and on the go and I must say after yesterday morning’s trip along the M5 I am so grateful I dont have to drive in peak hour traffic every day!

Here’s a Christmas card made using the lovely Season of Joy stamp set and I am happy to let you know this set will be in the new Idea Book & Catalogue

maskedbauble

This is a very easy card to make and two of my Stamp A Stack classes made it and were very pleased with their creations. They were surprised at just how easy it was to make and that always makes me happy :)   Its great when someone sees a card and thinks its really hard and the look on their face when they have re-created it is something special. You may have seen this card featured on Libby’s blog on Sunday.

You may have noticed I have a new tab up the top - Last Chance List.  If you go to this page you will find a link to the Last Chance List and also a list of the products which are low in supply and also those that have already run out.  So please check there regularly so if there is anything running low and you ‘need’ it to contact me as soon as possible so you don’t miss out.

Convention Swaps

One of the joys and highlights of Convention is swapping.  Its amazing to watch – and the chatter … wow! There’s nothing quite like making a swap and then realising that you’ve been talking to this person online for the last 12 months or so!

Here are the cards I made for my Convention Swaps …

This is one of my favourite cards and its been a hit with my customers too!

I actually made this card for my ESAD-SU Secret Sister back in March so havent been able to show it until now and the tulips are made using the very lovely Extra Large 2-step Bird punch available in the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue.

Recipe
Stamps: Cottage Garden
Paper: Cottage Wall DSP, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White, Old Olive, Lavender Lace, Pretty in Pink, Apricot Appeal
Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Perfect Plum, Lavender Lace, Pretty in Pink, Apricot Appeal
Accessories: Big Shot, Top Note die, Little Leaves sizzlits die, Polka Dot Impressions folder, Scalloped Oval Punch, Extra Large 2-step bird punch

This is my second card and its done using Pocket Silhouettes stamp set. This has to be one of the best value stamp sets and can literally be used for anything!

Recipe
Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes
Paper: Not Quite Navy, More Mustard, Whisper White
Inks: Sahara Sand, Tangerine Tango, Not Quite Navy, Old Olive
Accessories: Stampin Write Markers, Always Artichoke Grosgrain Ribbon

I’ve used the masking & sponging techniques on this card. I cut a rectangle out of a scrap piece of paper to create the ‘window’ then sponged it in Sahara Sand. I then stamped the leafy image in the same Sahara sand ink. It gives a dimensional look dont you think?

Here is my last swap card ….

Dont you just love the Tote-ally Tess set ??  For this card I’ve renamed it Totally Onie as it has all of my favourites on this card – Rich Razzleberry cardstock & ribbon, Cottage Wall DSP, Stamps and of course – coffee!

Recipe
Stamps: Tote-ally
Onie Tess , Sip by Sip
Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Cottage Wall DSP, Whisper White
Inks: Rich Razzleberry, Jet Black Stazon, Orchid Opulence, Chocolate chip reinker, Going Gray
Accessories: Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Grosgrain ribbon, Aqua Painter, Stamp-a-majig, Stampin Dimensionals

I’ve used the Paper Piecing technique for the Tote and used my Ink pads to watercolour with the aqua painter. I must say Tess was rather popular with the swappers.

Now here is a picture of all the swaps I received …

Now I did come home with some swaps of mine so if you would like one of my swaps then send me an email with your address and I’ll pop one in the post to you.

Diva Sketch Saturday

Here we are again at another Saturday and that means another Sketch Challenge. Mine is coming a little late as my dear husband decided we needed to go Christmas Shopping – ugh 3 weeks before Christmas and its not pretty!

Here is this week’s sketch …. DSC60

An interesting one to say the least! I thought it was upside down so I turned it around and made this card …

I wanted a bit of a manly card and thinks this fits the bill.

I love the shells of Seaside and made a collage of them for the main image then stamped the greeting from God’s Blessings over the top in a darker colour.

DSC60The shells on the very vanilla piece are done in Creamy Caramel after being stamped off first. The greeting is stamped in Chocolate Chip.

I’ve then taken the little shell and inked it up in versamark and then Chocolate Chip and embossed it so it has a shiny look to it. Cut it out and then adhered it with stampin dimensionals.

Instead of affixing the stripes on the base like the sketch indicates I’ve just stamped the shells in two lines in versamark.

Due to the versamark ink being faint I used my Stampin’ Pastels to bring out the colour of the shells on the base card.

I do hope you like this card – it was a quick and easy one to make and one you could use for a sympathy card or to lift or encourage someone or just let them know you care!

Dont forget to stop by the Utah Divas International Blog to see what the other ladies have done!

Christmas Sparkle

If you have been following my blog for 12 months you might remember my Christmas Sparkle cards from last year and looking back now I see I made that post on 14th september 2008 so its a little freaky that I’m posting this card 12 months to the day – nearly exactly! Actually its been sitting waiting its photo shoot for a few days so if I’d been a little more organised …….. lol.

I liked that design so much last year I decided on a new version using the Snow Swirled set.  When I got this set I wasnt real sure I’d like it but I’m loving using it! I made that embossed card the other week and I have an idea for a class using this set which I’ll try to get designed and up over the next week or so.

Christmas Sparkle 2009

You cant see the detail in the background of the card very well with the photo here as the top layer is done on White Glossy its very hard to get a good photo without that horrid ‘flash spot’!

You could make this on Whisper White rather than Glossy White if you wanted to but the sponging is alot nicer and softer on the gloss.

I just love this sentiment from the snow swirled set too – its how Christmas should be – full of love and peace.

Recipe
Stamps: Snow Swirled
Paper: Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, Glossy White
Inks: Encore Silver, Bashful Blue, Brocade Blue, Not Quite Navy
Accessories: 5/8″ Brocade Blue grosgain ribbon, Oval Template, Stampin Sponges, Small Rhinestone Brad.

I am very pleased with how this card turned out and hope you like it too. Ring or Email me today to book your Stamp A Stack in so you can make some of this card for your friends and family for Christmas!

Now I must be off to finish the birthday present for my Aunt – we share our birthday so I am going over there for morning tea tomorrow.
