This past week I’ve been busy getting my emails and Google reader up to date – cant believe I had over 700 posts I hadnt read! Can you believe its now down to 3?
In my ‘reading’ I did find some gorgeous cards and projects to inspire and case. Now when you do case a card or something you’ve found online the ‘proper’ thing to do is to give credit to the person who inspired you. In today’s case this card is one I cased from the very lovely Lynda Shrimpton. Lynda is an avid blog reader – I know this cos not only does she frequent my blog but those of my demonstrator friends and she always leaves the best comments! Thanks Lynda
Now I did change the colours somewhat as I wanted to use this as one of the cards for today’s Stamp A Stack.
Recipe
Stamps: Baroque Motifs, Weathered background, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Inks: Sahara Sand, Close to Cocoa
Papers: Close to Cocoa, Naturals Ivory
Accessories: Stampamajig, Sponge Daubers, Stampin Dimensionals
Technique – Shadow Stamping
If you look closely at the card you can see a faint shadow on the swirl. This is done by using the two inks – one light and one darker and you definitely need to use the Stampamajig to place the second stamping.
If you love this effect and would like to see how it is done why not book in for my Technique Class or have me come show you at a Workshop in your home.
Now I have some sad news …..
As you know we have the colour renovation happening when the new Idea Book & Catalogue comes out in September (not long now) and some of our beloved colours are being discontinued. Now while Stampin Up! have tried to keep up with the demand some of the colours will be gone early due to demand and everyone ordering and the first item to go is Close to Cocoa A4 Cardstock. So while the full packs are no longer available you can get it in the mixed Earth Elements pack but again this is only while stocks last.
So please if there is any other retiring colour cardstock, inks, markers or refills you ‘need’ get it early before its too late!
Have a totally blessed Sunday!
Thanks for stoppin by

The shells on the very vanilla piece are done in Creamy Caramel after being stamped off first. The greeting is stamped in Chocolate Chip.
I wanted to do a masculine card as I wanted a card to send my dad for his birthday. Living over 1000 kilometres from my parents and sister make it hard to see them as often as I’d like so I like to make their cards a little more special.
I hope you are well .. its been a busy week this week with preparing for a Stamp A Stack for last night that had 17 ladies coming! So yes that means lots of card stock being sliced and diced. Then it was up early today to go and pick up a friend from the airport – never a dull moment here!!
Leonie had showed us how to make this image with embossing, brayering and sponging.
I inked up the leaf in Mellow Moss then using daubers I daubered on some Really Ruse and More Mustard then stamped onto Very Vanilla cardstock. Now I stamped that leaf randomly over the whole piece reinking for each leaf. After I had enough leaves on the Vanilla I sponged randomly over the leaves with Mellow Moss, Really Rust and More Mustard to blend the leaves. I then sponged around the edge of the cardstock in Creamy Caramel – I find this is the best colour for edging and giving it an aged look.
As you can see I have moved the sketch elements around a little and interpreted that centre strip as a join. Thats what is so great about sketches that everyone that does the same sketch comes up with different ideas and no two card look the same.
I’ve place a square panel of baja breeze in the centre of the inside of the card then attached a Very Vanilla piece on top. When I stamped the boat I inked it up with the markers again then stamped off once onto scratch paper and then again without reinking onto the bottom left. I’ve also done the same thing in the top right but just using the seagulls from the lighthouse stamp in this set. I’ve then daubered around the edge in Baja breeze.
