Festive Friday Challenge

Good Morning!!

Well today is the first day I’m up with the Festive Friday Challenge which has been started by the lovely Nicole Derendorf.

Each Friday the design team will share a Festive card for the challenge to inspire you into creating card for Christmas and all those Festive occasions that happen during the year and this week it is Valentine’s Day!

Now remember the other day I said I’d have more from Easy Events??  Here is my card for today’s Festive Friday Challenge …

It’s amazing what you can do with just one of those little stamps!!

As soon as Nicole asked for Valentine’s well I knew what stamp I wanted to use – I love that little tree!

Now you know how all crafters say there is no such thing as a mistake and its just a creative licence?  well see my little banner? thats one of those ‘creative licences’!  I had stamped the image crooked and after all that spongeing I just about cried! So I just redid the greeting on a scrap of paper (this way it doesnt matter if it’s crooked cos I can cut it out and make it straight!) and turned it into a banner and used glue dots to position it to not only cover my mistake but to also give it the wavy/wind blown look :)

Now I wanted to make this card a little special so I can use it for Valentine’s Day for hubby and came across an idea online and once I saw it I thought yes this lady will have a template … but no – her sight was in some foreign language I’d never seen before so I just made my own using Microsoft Word and here’s the inside ….

Cute hey??  Took a bit of fiddling but finally worked it all out and I must say I do like this card!

Want to know more about the Festive Friday Challenge? here’s how it works.

  1. Choose a card or project that inspires you
  2. Create your own Project
  3. Load your project online somewhere and mention who on my design team inspired you
  4. Link your project to the Festive Friday Challenge on Nicole’s blog.
  5. Links close Thursday January 26th at 10am.  Winners will be posted with Next Week’s challenge.

I hope you like my little card and it inspires you to create and enter the challenge.  This is a fun new challenge so make sure you pop back each week to see what we’ve been creating to inspire you and who knows you might have all your Christmas cards done before December this year!

Marry Me

As you know last weekend was huge with Dad’s 80th Birthday dinner and then my neices’ wedding on the Sunday.

When I got my copy of the upcoming Summer Mini Catalogue and saw the Marry Me stamp set I knew I had to get it for Janine’s wedding card and since it included a flower stamp and a couple of sayings I’d be able to use it for other occasions as well.

Here’s the card I made for Janine & Rob …

I love the colours in the new In Colour range and I’ve used Pool Party and Island Indigo on this card.  I’ve also stamped the image onto vellum and embossed it. I simply then just cut out the veil and attached it using Glue Dots and used the gorgeous pearls to ‘hide’ the glue dots and to give it that special lift.

Now as I was sitting enjoying a coffee that morning my brother messages me and asks if I can make a card for Dad – I think they forgot it took us an extra hour than them to get to the Wedding Venue!  but being the wonderful daughter I am I made a card for Dad to give ….

I’ve used Marry Me again with Razzleberry, Pretty in Pink and Vanilla.  I love this combo and this card was rather quick & easy once I’d worked out what to do.

The Summer Mini Catalogue starts on Thursday 1st December and if you dont have your copy yet and would like a copy please contact me and I’ll get one in the post to you this week.

Dont forget there are just three days left for the Big Shot ‘sale to die for’ promotion so if you’d like to grab some dies at 10% off or maybe grab some for Christmas gifts contact me today and if you place and pay for your order before midnight Tuesday 29th November you’ll get free shipping!  Email or Ring me now to place your order!!

Sweet Wedding Card

Morning Everyone!!

Well its a tad chilly here this morning and I have so much to do before tonight’s workshop and thought I’d start off with a Coffee and a Blog post!

A couple of weeks ago we treated ourselves to a little weekend getaway. Well Hubby’s nephew was getting married on the South Coast so we took an extra couple of days to relax in and around Ulladulla on NSW South Coast.

Now when it comes to Wedding Cards you want to make them that extra little bit special and here is the card I created for the lovely couple

I used our Shimmer White Cardstock but wanted it more ‘shimmery’ so spritzed it with a mix of our Frost White Shimmer Paint and  Rubbing Alcohol.  It worked a treat so after punching out umpteen little flowers in Whisper White, Very Vanilla and Bashful Blue I spritzed them as well.  Now if you are going to do this technique you need to make sure you allow time for the spritzed pieces to dry before assembling the card other wise you will be assembling the card the morning you leave!

I’d only recently purchased the Elegant Lines embossing folder and now wonder why it took me so long to get it – it was perfect for this card! Dont forget to check out this month’s special for the Big Shot dies that are 10% off – just in time for Christmas too!! Just click on the advert in my sidebar for all the details!

Here we are all dressed up …

Now you couldnt go down to the South Coast without going to the Beach and as hubby and I used to have a caravan down at St George’s Basin (pre kids) we knew where to stop on the way home …

Hyam's Beach

Hyam’s Beach is known for its ‘white’ sand and is reported to be one of the Whitest sand beaches in the world! The water was so clear when we were there and there were some people not too far out  – about 100 metres – snorkelling and looking at the Octopus and Stingrays that were there!

While we were at the reception at Mollymook Beach on the Saturday we actually saw a whale jumping in and out of the water … actually Caitie was the first to see it. Pretty special.

It was a lovely weekend and Kat picked the perfect day as the weather on Sunday was a bit dubious and now I’m looking forward to freeing up a weekend here and there and taking a few more ‘breaks’.

Happy Valentines Day

I thought today would be appropriate to share these two cards.  Well when I say two cards its the same card just in two different colours.

Yesterday was the Engagement Party for my nephew James and the lovely Kat. It was a wonderful day and the happy couple were just beaming – they truely are a perfect match.

It was also timely that the Challenge blog – Just Add Ink have this week’s challenge as ‘Just Add Love

Here’s my card …

JAI-55

I love the Always stamp set and havent used it in a while and its the perfect set for ‘love’.  I also adore that heart stamp :) Its great for embossing or the direct to rubber technique.  I also added a couple of rhinestones to the image to make it that little bit special for James & Kat.

Here’s a close up of the heart to show you the rhinestones and the layers …

The heart is in two layers and mounted onto the white piece using Stampin’ Dimensionals to give it more depth.

Now I did say I made this in two colours and here is the other card made in Baja Breeze ..

Now I left the decision with hubby and the girls to choose which one to give and the Perfect Plum card was the winner. So at least with making two I still have the Baja one to show as a sample!

Love Sparkle Sketch

DSC68

Hello and welcome to another Saturday Sketch from the Utah Divas International Group.

I love Carol’s sketches as you would know if you’re a regular visitor to my blog.

Now when I first saw today’s sketch I thought it wayyyy too busy but I’m pleased with the card I’ve made. –

Oh and guess what??

NO STAMPING!!

DSC68I do hope you like my card.

I have had the Love Sparkles Simply Scrappin kit for some time and have wanted to make a whole array of projects with it and thought today’s sketch would be perfect and just traded the circles for hearts.

I am allowed to do that – Carol said so!

I love the colours and everything in this kit!

Resisting Fifth Avenue Floral

Well with a subject like that I could say that ‘resistance is futile’ when it comes to Fifth Avenue Floral! Its a wonderful stamp set and it can be used in so many ways and its just so very versatile.

For today’s Stamp A Stack my sister requested a card that could be used for Engagement congratulations and could be adapted for other occassions. So I put my thinking cap on and remembered a card I saw on the lovely Dawn Griffith’s blog.

Here is what the girls will be making today – well one of the cards at least!

5thAveCherish-CrayonResistThis card is done using the Crayon Resist technique and I’ve done it on gloss cardstock.

On Dawn’s video tutorial she says you can do this technique on whisper white cardstock so I did try that as well but found the sponging came out alot smother and softer on the gloss cardstock.

Recipe

Stamps: Fifth Avenue Floral, Greetings Eight, Warm Words
Cardstock: Basic Gray, Pirouette Pink, White Gloss, Whisper White
Ink: Baja Breeze, Going Gray, Jet Black Stazon, Pretty in Pink, Pirouette Pink
Accessories: White Oil Pastel, Stampin Sponges, Large Oval Punch, Scalloped Oval Punch, Pink Taffeta Ribbon, Facial Tissue

I really love how this turned out and the colours – its so soft even with the gray rose in the centre.Where I have the word cherish on the oval it actually has the pencil hearts from Greetings Eight behind the word. I inked up in Pirouette Pink and then stamped off first before stamping onto the whisper white piece so there’s two faint hearts behind the word.  If you didnt want the hearts you could do it with any smaller image just to give it a little more style.

With just using the word cherish its suites any occasion – birthday, wedding, engagement, anniversary or get well or even just a thinking of you card!

If you would like to learn how to do the Crayon Resist technique then please feel free to contact me to arrange your class or demonstration.

Now I’d better get off this pc and finish my packing and get myself of the road to my sister’s place!

Till next time ….

Elegant Valentine

Further to yesterday’s post about the sponged hearts I went and added a couple of things to the heart card using A Happy Heart from the Summer Mini Catalogue.

Here’s the before look ….

vintagespongedhearts

Now here’s the new and improved look … with a little bit of WOW (even if i do say so myself)

vintagespongedheartshatpin1

Its amazing how just adding a couple of embellishments to a card really lifts it. The hat pin, pearls, clear beads and flower all came from the Pretties Kit and it really should come with a warning as to how sharp those hat pins are when you take the bottom cover off.  I have hat pin wounds to prove it but I will survive!

The “love you” stamp is from the Sealed with a Kiss stamp set from the Idea Book & Catalogue.

Dont forget valentines day is in just 6 weeks so why not email me your wish list – and dont forget to include the Sale-a-Bration sets you’d like and then just tell your hubby, spouse, boyfriend to contact me to arrange your present!  Couldnt be easier could it??

Have a great weekend.

Who would have thought …

Who would have thought that giving your daughter a mobile phone would have such a lovely result!

Yes I know she is only 10 but there are times when I am 5 minutes from home when the girls are coming home from school – not very often but it does happen – and you really do not know what is going to happen and when do you?

OK so let me tell you what happened last week. I had given Caitlyn the phone the previous week and it was my old pink mobile which i got her a pre-paid card for. It was Thursday and Valentine’s Day and we were coming home from their gymnastics tryout. Caitie pipes up with “when I get home I’m going to ring Daddy and remind him its Valentine’s Day and to get you a present” Well I laughed so hard I had to bring myself back to reality as I was driving the car at the time! I told Caitie that mummy and daddy don’t normally give valentines presents … mummy gives daddy a card and that’s about it. Did I mention that my hubby isn’t the most romantically inclined person? and he rarely buys me presents – I usually do my own shopping at Mother’s Day, Birthday & Christmas. Mind you he did surprise me with an espresso maker & coffee bean grinder and two packs of coffee beans for Christmas. So going back to Caitie, I told her not to waste her money with her card as Dad wouldn’t do that. When we got home I was tired so I did ring him to ask him to pick up dinner – thats as close as I’d get to a Valentines present! Well unknown to me Caitie did ring him and he arrived home with Fish & chips and as I was dishing it out he said ‘oh I left it in the car’ … silly me thought he was talking about his mobile as he’s always leaving it in the car when he gets home and he waltzes back inside the front door and says “Happy Valentine’s Day Honey!!” well my jaw must have dropped ten feet as this is what he handed me …

valentine flowers08

So as you can imagine I was (and still am) rather shocked but also feeling very blessed as well. Now remember I said we don’t normally give gifts for Valentine’s? Well I had been going to make some items for hubby to have on his desk at work and apparently he only uses one pen so that meant the caddy would have been a waste of time so I had the coasters covered and thought I’d just make him a calendar however I didn’t have it finished so after the yummy fish and chips I took myself to my table and made two of the coasters into a calendar for him which he assures is on his desk – maybe I should ask for photographic evidence?valcalendar

This is the calendar I made for him … I’ve used the Au Chocolat papers and the saying is from Small Sayings both from the Summer Mini Catalogue. I attached the two coasters using my lovely Bind It All machine and the hearts are die cut using the Cuttlebug with the Cuttle Kids heart dies.

I also gave him a Valentine’s Day card and did it in “non Valentines” colours – meaning no red or pink as this was a challenge for the Sisterhood 8 of the Blogging Stampers group. I quite enjoyed doing the non traditional colours for Valentines day and hope you like them too.

valentine A nice simple card which really does say it all … the verse is from the Love Matters set and again uses a strip from the Au Chocolat papers – both from the Summer Mini Catalogue.

If you would like more information on the products I’ve used or would like to purchase any of the papers or stamps then please do not hesitate to contact me.
