Scalloped Bunnies

Today’s share is the last from Monday’s Stamp A Stack in which I was asked for ‘Easter cards for kids’.

This is a very easy and simple card and one that you can give to anyone just by changing the colours and designer series papers.

Recipe:
Stamps: Greetings Eight, Occasional Greetings.
Paper: Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink, So Saffron, Whisper White, Regal Rose, Brocade Blue, Morning Sun, Tea Party DSP, Washington Apple DSP
Inks: Jet Black Stazon, Brocade Blue, Regal Rose, Morning Sun
Accessories: Circle Scissor Plus, Ribbons, Stampin Dimensionals, Watercolour Crayons, Aqua Painter, Scallop Circle Punch.

I also showed my ladies how to use your Scalloped Circle punch to create scallops on larger circles. This way you only need the one punch and the ‘know-how’ to use it for larger circles.

I got this idea from the lovely Marelle Taylor and this is how you do it ….

I have punched a 1 3/4″ circle and I want to put a scalloped edge around it and as you can see from this picture that our scalloped circle punch isn’t big enough to do so.

So what we need to do is to punch two Scalloped Circles and punch another circle in the centre – I’ve used the 3/4″ punch here

using your Paper Snips cut right through between a scallop and then from the centre and on every second scallop snip to within a couple of millimetres of the scallop and do this all the way around your scalloped circle. I am hoping you can see the pictures OK to see what I’m talking about! Then on the second scalloped circle cut to how many you need to fill up the scallops.

Using your fingers spread the sections out being careful not to spread too much as they can brake off.

Then take the circle you want to scallop behind and place small sections of Snail Adhesive behind and then spread your scallops around ensuring they are even and have the same amount showing on each one. Once your finished you can then attach to your project or to ensure the scallops dont fall off punch out another 1 3/4″ circle to attach behind to keep it all secure.

So how easy is that??

Now you dont need to buy umpteen scalloped circle punches for each size circle you want to scallop – you just need the one!

As a special bonus from me to you I am offering a bonus just for my customers …. when you spend $60 with me from now until end of March I will give you a free Sale A Bration stamp set.   I have a few spares here so happy to reward my customers in little ways like this so email or ring me today with your order and payment details.

Happy 50th!

Today is my husband’s 50th Birthday!

After seeing this week’s Mojo Monday sketch I decided I would use that sketch for his card and the little pocket on the sketch would be perfect for a gift card.

Mojo99-Neil50

Here is his card that I’ve literally just finished.

I started by selecting the Designer SEries Paper I wanted to use – I wanted something that wasnt overly ‘male’ yet could be used for a male card. I love the colours in the Urban Oasis DSP – its perfect for this card!

I wanted to use the silhouette of the flowers for the pieces behind the pocket and so I just used the reverse of the paper for the pocket.

The addition of the Twill and Twine it makes it earthy and manly. I’ve used the wide Twill for at the back of all the layers – this helps separate the base card from the layers. I’ve also frayed the bottom of the twill. I’ve used the thinner twill to wrap around the upper part of the pocket and then just a piece of twine to tie around this piece of twill.

The ‘dad’ stamp comes from the Greetings Eight stamp set. I stamped onto kraft cardstock in basic gray classic ink and then used the distressing tool from the cutter kit around the edges for a bit of texture and depth.

Now hubby decided to celebrate his birthday by taking today off so needless to say I havent got much done today!

While I was finishing off his card this arrived for him!

Gotta love big sisters for making it known how ‘old’ he is today!

Well I hope you like the card I made and I’d better be off and go pick up a cake for him for his birthday – gotta sing happy birthday dont you? Not sure I can afford 50 candles tho!

Easter Treats

Well its nearly ‘that’ time again! but we all know its coming … as soon as the christmas decorations come down in the shops out comes Valentine’s Day and when thats done I am sure they just take off the hearts and stick on bunnies or rabbit ears to the displays!

Now dont get me wrong I do love Easter as we celebrate the wonderful gift God gave us and His sacrifice for us. I also love chocolate – which could be my undoing this year as I’ve now been going to Weight Watchers for a couple of months and have so far lost 3.2kg so I’m very happy with that but so dont want to put it all back on over Easter! Mind you 3kg is A LOT of chocolate!

kitkatpulltreat1A recent hostess asked if they could make something to give a gift for Easter in and I immediately thought of the treat pulls I made last year for the coffee sachets.

So I went to work and made one to suite the very yummy Kit Kat bar in.

Did you know that one Kit Kat (4 fingers) has 5.5 points in them on the Weight Watchers Plan? That’s 1/4 of my daily allowance – still its no match for one slice of Banana Bread from Gloria Jean’s – it has a whoppin 26.5 points in ONE slice!! and you thought it was a good choice hey??

Ok … back to the Treat Pull for the Kit Kat

kitkatpulltreatHow cute is this ??

You pull on the ribbon and it actually pulls out the Kit Kat.

This is very easy to make and I’d love to show you how – just book in a demonstration and I will make one at your demonstration – dont forget that the hostess gets everything I make on the day!tall2468

I’ve used the It’s Beautiful Stampin Round wheel and the Greetings Eight stamp set which is in the new 2009-2010 Idea Book & Catalogue.

Now for something a little different again I made a tall 2-4-6-8 Box.

Now you could pop small easter eggs, smarties, M&M’s or Jelly Beans inside this one and it just ties up with a ribbon at the top.You could even pop in some ribbons, hodge podge hardware or brads inside. Hey even money would work!

Easy As!

I took a piece of whisper white cardstock and just used the flower from Simply Said and stamped it all over in four different colours. Assembled the box and tied with the wide Grosgrain Certainly Celery ribbon.

Now these are not Easter only treats – you could use them any time of the year by just changing the stamps and colours you use.

My girls are taking one of the kit kat pulls to their teachers for Easter – so yeah they make great teacher’s gifts too!

Hope you like these little boxes and I’ll see you next time – have a great night!

As the 2008-2009 Idea Book & Catalogue finishes tomorrow I now have a list of my retiring stamps for sale on the Stamp Clearance page. So have a look there and see if there is anything you must have – make sure you contact me as soon as possible as they wont lsinglelattesigast long!
