Funky Flutters

Good Morning all!

Its another busy day for me but that’s OK because I love what I do! Being a Stampin Up Demonstrator I get to go to people’s houses and share with them my love of card making, stamping and papercraft – and I earn money when I do this so to me there is no better job – well except for being a mum!

How many of us have a job we are passionate about and just love doing? If you are a stamper or crafter and would like more information about becoming a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator then please do not hesitate to contact me – even if it is just to get your stamping products and accessories at a discount.

Its Saturday again (where does the week go?) and therefore that means another Utah Divas International Sketch

Another sketch from the hands of the lovely Carol and again a sketch that has so many opportunities.

Now I have a demonstration this afternoon and the hostess has asked for cards that are girly and funky so I hope she feels this card fits the funky bill.

So here’s my card … what do you think? is it funky?

My 10yo told me its definitely funky as she helped me design the card. I have left the bottom strip off as Miss 10 said that if I put ribbon on the card there it would not be funky any more so what’s a mum to do??

Recipe

Stamps: Flight of the Butterfly
Inks: Orchid Opulence, Rich Razzleberry
Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Whisper White, Orchid Opulence, Cottage Wall DSP
Accessories: Stampamajig, Butterfly Punch, Stampin Dimensionals.

I just love the Cottage Wall Designer Series Papers – they are so fresh and lovely … and maybe funky?? I am also glad we will have them for 5 months instead of the regular 3 months a mini catalogue runs for.

I’ve used the Flight of the Butterfly Stamp set with this card as my hostess wanted to see the butterfly punch in action. Now I did make another card using the butterfly punch but you’ll have to wait till tomorrow for that one!

Again you can see all the lovely creations the ladies have made following the links at the Utah Divas International Blog and if you skip along to the lovely Tiffany’s  blog you can see what she’s made and then just keep following the rest of the links to see them individually.

I do hope the ladies like this card this afternoon .. now I’d best be off and finish packing my trolley.

Sketchy Saturday

Well this week has just flown!  and no I wont say ‘it will be Christmas before we know it’ cos then I’ll only get in trouble.

Here is this week’s sketch dsc56from the loverly Carol!

I’m not sure how she thinks of so many different ideas but I am glad to say that I enjoyed using circles this week – yes you read that right!! Circles!!

Now I will let you in on a little secret … but its a secret … you cant tell anyone but in the upcoming Summer Mini Catalogue we have a new tool for you.  So you better start saving your pennies cos you will need one of these – its the awesome Stampin’ Up! Circle Scissor Plus!!

I just about had a heart infarction when I saw it in the catalogue and Ness will vouch for that as I was chatting online to her when I opened it. I’ve wanted this tool since it was introduced in USA and this is another advantage of being a Stampin’ Up! demo – they really do listen to their demonstrators!

dsc56Now when I envisioned this card in my head it was so nice and it just hasnt come out right but I have to share it as I have to bundle up the kits for tomorrow’s Stamp A Stack.

It does look alot better in real life as you cant see here that the wings on the butterflies lift and give it a little more dimension.

This was a case of my own card that I’ve made for tomorrow’s Stamp A Stack so I’ll share that on a later date.  I love this sheet from the Sweet Always DSP and that bird!  I love the pink and brown of this pack and even the pumpkin – and I have never met a pumpkin I didnt like!!

I love the saying I’ve used from Flight of the Butterfly – it says “hope your day is as happy as happy gets”  How nice is that?? Well I do hope you have a happy day and as happy as happy gets!!

Diva Sketch Challenge 37

Hows this … Sketchy Saturday and I’m posting it on a Saturday and all! Well I started the post off on a Saturday ;)

Here’s today’s sketch by the lovely Alicia!

I quite like this sketch and it has many possibilities but today I chose to play with my Flight of the Butterfly stamp set. This is actually the first time I’ve inked this set and I must say I had fun playing with these butterflies!

I’ve rotated the sketch and here’s my creation ..

Diva Sketch Challenge 37

I just love the raspberry Tart Designer Series Papers with its rich colours so I’ve gone with the swatch from that paper pack.

Recipe:

Stamps: Three Little Words, Flight of the Butterfly
Cardstock: Kiwi Kiss, Regal Rose, Rose Red, Whisper White, Raspberry Tart DSP, Vellum Cardstock
Inks: Old Olive, Pretty in Pink, Pink Pirouette, Pink Passion, Rose Red
Accessories: Stamp-a-majig, Stampin Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots

There is only one of the small butterflies stamped directly onto the whisper white piece and the rest have been stamped, cut out and affixed to the whisper white piece with glue dots. This enables me to bend up the wings to give the card a little extra dimension.

With the larger butterfly I’ve stamped the solid butterfly in pink pirouette and then used the stamp -a-majig to layer the doted outline on top. I’ve then stamped the ‘flower’ wings onto vellum cardstock, cut it out and mounted it onto the other piece. I have used the mini glue dots to stick the vellum down but only under the body so these wings can be bent up as well.

The picture to the right gives you some idea of the dimension of the butterflies – sorry its not a very good picture.

Now I do promise that no butterflies were harmed in the creation of this card – I didnt even cut myself!

I do hope you like this card – its not my usual colour combination but think they do compliment each other well.

Before I go I’d like to wish all my American friends (and their families) a very happy & safe Independence Day.

Till next time …
