I lurv Happy Mail

How many times do you walk to the letter box and your whole being drops when you see all those window faced envelopes (aka Bills)??

Being a demonstrator for Stampin’ Up! I make many sample cards to share at demonstrations or with my loyal blog readers like yourself.  I have quite a few more cards than I need so its nice to throw one in the mail and send to someone ‘just cos I can’ and its always lovely to get one back – how excited do we get when we see an envelope in our letter box that does NOT have a window??

I know I get very excited as do the girls – they want to know who its from and why they sent it to me.

Now being that I’ve been with Stampin’ Up! now for nearly 4 years – ooo its my Stampin Up! Anniversary next month! I’ve met many lovely people and many of them have become friends.  One of these ladies is the lovely Leonie Newman – who also happens to be in my awesome downline – well she’d have to be great with a name like Leonie wouldnt she??

To my surprise Leonie sent me a little gift last week – she had told me during one our online chats that I should keep an eye on my letter box.

This is what I received ….

Leonie did tell me that she saw this Coffee Sleeve and thought of me immediately — not sure where she gets the idea I’m powered by coffee?!?! I do appreciate the thought as how often have you bought a coffee from a take away and its too hot to hold??

Now the card ….

I love the colours and paper Leonie has used.

This type of card is called a ‘swing’ card as the top swings up to reveal the message or greeting as shown below.

If you would like to learn how to make one of these swing cards then contact me today to arrange your demonstration or class

To Leonie – thank you for blessing me with your friendship and your gorgeous gift!

A Rose for mum … and a special bonus offer

Hi everyone … I hope you are enjoying this last week of school – well those in NSW anyways.  Dont forget its Easter this weekend so make sure all your Easter Bunny preparations are all done! I’m sure there will be a huge rush on carrots over the next few days!

Here’s a card that I created for my mum as its her birthday on Thursday.

Mum loves roses and I love this rose!

My last two Stamp A Stack groups made this card and they just loved it!  Its quite easy to put together and the hardest part is just the embossing!

The Pink Pirouette layer is stamped in versamark then clear embossed.  The rose is stamped in Whisper White onto Whisper White cardstock and then clear embossed. Its then coloured using the Aqua Painter and Pretty in Pink Classic Ink Reinker and highlighted with the Regal Rose Classic Ink Reinker.  You will need your Aqua Painter to be very wet for this technique to spread the ink over the whole flower.

I would just love to show you how to make this card and you and your friends could make it for free just by holding a demonstration! So all you need to do is to email or ring me to book your demonstration in.

Now for my special bonus offer ….

The Stampin Up! ‘year’ goes from April to March and during that year you can achieve Sales and Recruiting goals and receive awards at Convention to achieving set goals. The first level Sales goal is $20,000 and I am just $500 short of this amount and am asking for your help so I can walk the stage, receive a special $20k pin and receive a bonus free stamp set at Convention in May.

Now there are only two days left to achieve this goal so I know I’m asking alot but if you would like to help me I am offering some special bonuses for those who place an outside order and pay on or before Wednesday. These offers are only good through me and only available until 8pm Wednesday 31st March and they are ….

Resisting Fifth Avenue Floral

Well with a subject like that I could say that ‘resistance is futile’ when it comes to Fifth Avenue Floral! Its a wonderful stamp set and it can be used in so many ways and its just so very versatile.

For today’s Stamp A Stack my sister requested a card that could be used for Engagement congratulations and could be adapted for other occassions. So I put my thinking cap on and remembered a card I saw on the lovely Dawn Griffith’s blog.

Here is what the girls will be making today – well one of the cards at least!

5thAveCherish-CrayonResistThis card is done using the Crayon Resist technique and I’ve done it on gloss cardstock.

On Dawn’s video tutorial she says you can do this technique on whisper white cardstock so I did try that as well but found the sponging came out alot smother and softer on the gloss cardstock.

Recipe

Stamps: Fifth Avenue Floral, Greetings Eight, Warm Words
Cardstock: Basic Gray, Pirouette Pink, White Gloss, Whisper White
Ink: Baja Breeze, Going Gray, Jet Black Stazon, Pretty in Pink, Pirouette Pink
Accessories: White Oil Pastel, Stampin Sponges, Large Oval Punch, Scalloped Oval Punch, Pink Taffeta Ribbon, Facial Tissue

I really love how this turned out and the colours – its so soft even with the gray rose in the centre.Where I have the word cherish on the oval it actually has the pencil hearts from Greetings Eight behind the word. I inked up in Pirouette Pink and then stamped off first before stamping onto the whisper white piece so there’s two faint hearts behind the word.  If you didnt want the hearts you could do it with any smaller image just to give it a little more style.

With just using the word cherish its suites any occasion – birthday, wedding, engagement, anniversary or get well or even just a thinking of you card!

If you would like to learn how to do the Crayon Resist technique then please feel free to contact me to arrange your class or demonstration.

Now I’d better get off this pc and finish my packing and get myself of the road to my sister’s place!

Till next time ….

Fifth Avenue Lilies

The Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set has to be one of the favourites at the moment – I just love it and I love everything I’ve seen made with it.

TollLilliesBajaBlackI had some time to play the other day while my girls were at the School Holiday program at church. I pulled out the Fifth Avenue Floral set as I really havent used it much since getting it in April.

I saw this layout for a card somewhere in the last week or so (if its a case of yours please email me so I can link to you and give credit where credit is due!)

Its a lovely simple layout and makes such an elegant card.

The actual Lily is ‘paper toled’ in that there are three levels to the flower to give it more dimension. I’ve stamped it three times onto Whisper White using Basic Black Classic Ink and just lightly sponged the baja breeze ink using the sponge daubers (one of my recommended ‘must haves’) and layered the top two layers using stampin dimensionals.

The patterened paper is from the Baja Breeze Patterns Designer Series Papers which I’ve just used the eyelet border punch on. The Kiwi Kiss patterned paper is from the Urban Oasis Designer Series Papers.

I’ve used the black grosgrain ribbon and attached a button from the Button Bouquet Designer Buttons and the sentiment comes from the On Your Birthday stamp set which is a great set full of different birthday greetings.

TollLilliesPinkBlack

As I was making this card I checked this week’s challenge on Stampin Up! Late Night Stampers yahoogroup which was to create a card in Black and Pink so I used this same design but using  just Pink and Black.

Here is my card for this challenge – as you can see its the same card in pink tones.

It makes a lovely elegant card in either colour dont you think?  I must say that I do think that a combination of any colour and black makes it a lovely elegant card.

Now we have a cyberstamp weekend for our ESAD group – thats our group for Extra Special Australian (Stmapin Up!) Demonstrators and we’ve had our first challenge set by the lovely Mel Sharp so I’m off to create a card for that and my Diva Sketch Challenge due on Saturday.

Have a great night and dont forget to make some time for YOU! If you dont know how to have fun with paper then give me a call and I’ll show you just how much fun it is!

Bag-a-licious

Well I’m writing from a very very chilly Canberra which is a very low 5°C right now … only one word for that and thats FREEZING!!!!

I’ve just popped in quickly to share some bags I made before I left for convention.

The first bag is a Bag-a-Lope and is done using the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set and the greeting is from Level 1 Hostess Set Best Yet.The Panel behind the stamped image is done using the Scallop Border Punch and the ‘friend to friend’ sentiment is from the Pocket Silhouettes.  The instructions for the Bag-a-lope can be found at SplitCoast Stampers here

2009fifthbagalopetartboxinabagThe second bag is done using the gorgeous Raspberry Tart Designer Series Papers and is made using the Box in a Bag tutorial also at Splitcoast Stampers. These are super easy to make and I’m more than happy to show you should you wish to hold a demonstration – remember when you host a demonstration you get to keep everything I make on the day. The flowers are from the Flower Fusion kit and are held together with a rhinestone brad.

As a reminder one of the specials for May is the Buy 3 and get one Free! So when you buy 3 packs of Designer Series Papers you get the fourth pack absolutely free!

There is another awesome special for May as well.

Awards dinner where demonstrators are rewarded for achieving particular goals and the top 25 Demonstrators of the Year will be announced. So needless to say I’m looking forward to that – its a great night had by all in attendance – not just those receiving awards.

I’m off to hop into bed and try and get a little more sleep than I did last night – must have been all the excitement for today that kept me awake until 3am last night … now if only the rowdy crowd outside would realise its bedtime too!!

Have a wonderful SAturday!!
