Happy Valentines Day

I thought today would be appropriate to share these two cards.  Well when I say two cards its the same card just in two different colours.

Yesterday was the Engagement Party for my nephew James and the lovely Kat. It was a wonderful day and the happy couple were just beaming – they truely are a perfect match.

It was also timely that the Challenge blog – Just Add Ink have this week’s challenge as ‘Just Add Love

Here’s my card …

JAI-55

I love the Always stamp set and havent used it in a while and its the perfect set for ‘love’.  I also adore that heart stamp :) Its great for embossing or the direct to rubber technique.  I also added a couple of rhinestones to the image to make it that little bit special for James & Kat.

Here’s a close up of the heart to show you the rhinestones and the layers …

The heart is in two layers and mounted onto the white piece using Stampin’ Dimensionals to give it more depth.

Now I did say I made this in two colours and here is the other card made in Baja Breeze ..

Now I left the decision with hubby and the girls to choose which one to give and the Perfect Plum card was the winner. So at least with making two I still have the Baja one to show as a sample!

Gold Gift Card Holder

I said I’d be back so thought I’d better sneak a post in before I go to bed! I’ve been busy with Christmas Shopping and shopping for shoes and a bag for my daughter for her Year 6 farewell. I must say that was alot easier than the dress shopping! I am totally exhausted but so glad the Christmas shopping is all done except for hubby!

Last week my neice and nephew both had engagement parties to go to and my sister asked if I’d make them a Gift Card Holder to present their gift cards in and my nephew has specified “No Pink” … the hide of the boy!! So not to be out done I did make one for him with ‘no pink’.

GiftCardHolder-Engagement-closedSo I first decided that I needed a ‘classy’ stamp set and you really cant go past Fifth Avenue Floral – it makes any card look good!

I wanted to make it extra special as it was for an engagement gift so I got out the very lovely Textured Whisper White cardstock from my Love Sparkles Simply Scrappin kit and stamped the images in Gold Encore Metallic ink and embossed in gold embossing powder.

This is a very simple front – just two flowers and the saying all embossed in gold. Just gorgeous!

I then made the base of the gift card holder out of the Gold cardstock in the brushed metallics pack – very nice cardstock to say the least. Most metallic cardstock is just coated but the Stampin Up Brushed Metallics is all the way through the cardstock. I love it!

GiftCardHolder-EngagementHere is the gift card opened.

I’ve just stamped the flower into the middle section and again embossed with Gold embossing powder. I’ve done this so it wasnt so plain on the inside.

As you can see the gift card just slides into the middle section of the gift card holder and there is plenty of room to write your message.

When closed you just slide the Kiwi Kiss Satin ribbon around it to secure it all together.

I do hope you like my Gift Card Holder – you can adapt it for any occassion just by changing the stamps and colours used.

Resisting Fifth Avenue Floral

Well with a subject like that I could say that ‘resistance is futile’ when it comes to Fifth Avenue Floral! Its a wonderful stamp set and it can be used in so many ways and its just so very versatile.

For today’s Stamp A Stack my sister requested a card that could be used for Engagement congratulations and could be adapted for other occassions. So I put my thinking cap on and remembered a card I saw on the lovely Dawn Griffith’s blog.

Here is what the girls will be making today – well one of the cards at least!

5thAveCherish-CrayonResistThis card is done using the Crayon Resist technique and I’ve done it on gloss cardstock.

On Dawn’s video tutorial she says you can do this technique on whisper white cardstock so I did try that as well but found the sponging came out alot smother and softer on the gloss cardstock.

Recipe

Stamps: Fifth Avenue Floral, Greetings Eight, Warm Words
Cardstock: Basic Gray, Pirouette Pink, White Gloss, Whisper White
Ink: Baja Breeze, Going Gray, Jet Black Stazon, Pretty in Pink, Pirouette Pink
Accessories: White Oil Pastel, Stampin Sponges, Large Oval Punch, Scalloped Oval Punch, Pink Taffeta Ribbon, Facial Tissue

I really love how this turned out and the colours – its so soft even with the gray rose in the centre.Where I have the word cherish on the oval it actually has the pencil hearts from Greetings Eight behind the word. I inked up in Pirouette Pink and then stamped off first before stamping onto the whisper white piece so there’s two faint hearts behind the word.  If you didnt want the hearts you could do it with any smaller image just to give it a little more style.

With just using the word cherish its suites any occasion – birthday, wedding, engagement, anniversary or get well or even just a thinking of you card!

If you would like to learn how to do the Crayon Resist technique then please feel free to contact me to arrange your class or demonstration.

Now I’d better get off this pc and finish my packing and get myself of the road to my sister’s place!

Till next time ….

Free Wheelin – last days

Well its the end of the month again which means the end of a great promotion – Free Wheelin’.

This has been a great month with the free wheels and its always nice to get free stamps! We are staying with my sister and her hubby and they had to go to an engagement on Saturday night. Jo had to go and buy a present and had been staring at card in the local newsagent for 10 minutes before she decided “why should i buy an engagement card when i have a card maker (me) at home??” and she wanted something ‘green’ to match the wrapping.

Now I’d only bought 4 stamp sets with me and three of those are the Simply Sent kits! The other just happened to be Priceless and the So Swirly wheel – I must have known hey??

This is the first one I made using Old Olive and Vintage Violet (2007 In Colour) cardstock.

I wheeled the So Swirly in Vintage Violet on the white cardstock and then stamped the hearts from Priceless in Old Olive then cut them out and using stampin dimensionals placed them over the wheeled image.I stamped one of the flourishes from priceless off the corner in Old Olive and then the sentiment in Vintage Violet and finished it off with a satin ribbon.

This is another one I did using the same layout but using the larger flourish from the Priceless set instead of the So Swirly wheel. I’ve also used Cameo Coral cardstock & ink.

These make a very quick and easy card and they do turn out rather elegant even if i do say so myself. Well they must as even my brother in law commented on how nice they were.

Dont forget you can ring or email your order through if you’d like to take advantage of this great special.

Here is the list of sets & wheels part of the promotion.

Be quick as this promotion finishes tomorrow – 30th September.
