Creative Elements

My apologies for getting my Sketch card up so late – I do hope all the Divas forgive me.

Yesterday I woke with a touch of the flu so yesterday was a bit of a struggle to get everything done and October is a very busy month so really dont have time to be ill but then do we ever have time to be sick?? I had my monthly Stamp A Stack yesterday so couldnt go back to bed even though I really wanted to but did end up crashed in my recliner not long after the ladies left and this is why one eats dinner at 9pm!

Anyhoo … Here is this week’s Sketch

Easy enough hey?

I love the simplicity of this Sketch and here is what I (eventually) came up with as my brain wasnt working so well …

Happy Valentines Day

I thought today would be appropriate to share these two cards.  Well when I say two cards its the same card just in two different colours.

Yesterday was the Engagement Party for my nephew James and the lovely Kat. It was a wonderful day and the happy couple were just beaming – they truely are a perfect match.

It was also timely that the Challenge blog – Just Add Ink have this week’s challenge as ‘Just Add Love

Here’s my card …

JAI-55

I love the Always stamp set and havent used it in a while and its the perfect set for ‘love’.  I also adore that heart stamp :) Its great for embossing or the direct to rubber technique.  I also added a couple of rhinestones to the image to make it that little bit special for James & Kat.

Here’s a close up of the heart to show you the rhinestones and the layers …

The heart is in two layers and mounted onto the white piece using Stampin’ Dimensionals to give it more depth.

Now I did say I made this in two colours and here is the other card made in Baja Breeze ..

Now I left the decision with hubby and the girls to choose which one to give and the Perfect Plum card was the winner. So at least with making two I still have the Baja one to show as a sample!

Manhatten Thanks

Today’s post will be a short and sweet as today I have the first of three days of Stamp A Stacks!

I love my job and to be able to share my passion for card making and ‘giving’ to others its just a bonus I earn an income from doing this!

One of today’s cards is a remake of one that I did a little while ago which is a case from the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue and its one the girls will be making today.

Paper: Certainly Celery, Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry

This card is so very easy to do and can be used to suit any occasion by simply changing the sentiment. How easy is that??

A Rose for mum … and a special bonus offer

Hi everyone … I hope you are enjoying this last week of school – well those in NSW anyways.  Dont forget its Easter this weekend so make sure all your Easter Bunny preparations are all done! I’m sure there will be a huge rush on carrots over the next few days!

Here’s a card that I created for my mum as its her birthday on Thursday.

Mum loves roses and I love this rose!

My last two Stamp A Stack groups made this card and they just loved it!  Its quite easy to put together and the hardest part is just the embossing!

The Pink Pirouette layer is stamped in versamark then clear embossed.  The rose is stamped in Whisper White onto Whisper White cardstock and then clear embossed. Its then coloured using the Aqua Painter and Pretty in Pink Classic Ink Reinker and highlighted with the Regal Rose Classic Ink Reinker.  You will need your Aqua Painter to be very wet for this technique to spread the ink over the whole flower.

I would just love to show you how to make this card and you and your friends could make it for free just by holding a demonstration! So all you need to do is to email or ring me to book your demonstration in.

Now for my special bonus offer ….

Always Gift Card

My apologies for not posting more often this week – this past week was such a busy one with Stamp A Stacks, Year 6 Farewells, special school presentation and then to top it off I ended up coming down with this horrid flu bug which I’m still trying to recover from – I just hope its cleared up before we leave for holidays next weekend.

AlwaysEmbossedCardHolderI did mention in a previous post that I had to make two gift card holders for my niece & nephew recently and here is the second one I made.

I just love how this card turned out!  The gift card holder was for an engagement present so I wanted to make it a little extra special and elegant and think I achieved that.

This card has two types of embossing on it. Firstly on the Baja Breeze background I clear embossed the berry branch stamp from the Always stamp set using versamark and clear embossing powder.

The Baja Breeze panel across the middle of the card and the white layer behind the heart are both embossed using the Big Shot and a dotty embossing folder.

The heart is embossed using Versamark then Stampin’ Up!’s white embossing powder. I’ve stamped and embossed it twice and layered one flat on the white layer then the other I’ve actually cut the dotted edge around the heart off and layered it with Stampin Dimensionals.

AlwaysEmbossedCardHolderInsideHere is the inside of the card …

I’ve just added a couple of  layers to the inside of the card and used my slit punch to make the slits to hold the gift card in place.

You could leave these layers out if you just wanted to make this as a card and I think it would make  lovely Wedding card also.

AlwaysEmbossDiff

Now you might ask why I stamped in Versamark then used the white embossing powder when I could have stamped in the White Craft ink then embossed in white or clear embossing powder. Well I have found you get a much better and clearer image when using the Versamark with the white embossing powder.

This image here shows the results of  three different ways of embossing the heart on the Baja Breeze. The image top left is using White Craft ink with the White embossing powder.

The image bottom left is using the White Craft Ink and clear embossing powder and the image bottom right is the one i prefer using the Versamark ink and the white embossing powder.

I made this sample to show you the different results so sometimes you just have to test different methods to get a clearer image.

Gold Gift Card Holder

I said I’d be back so thought I’d better sneak a post in before I go to bed! I’ve been busy with Christmas Shopping and shopping for shoes and a bag for my daughter for her Year 6 farewell. I must say that was alot easier than the dress shopping! I am totally exhausted but so glad the Christmas shopping is all done except for hubby!

Last week my neice and nephew both had engagement parties to go to and my sister asked if I’d make them a Gift Card Holder to present their gift cards in and my nephew has specified “No Pink” … the hide of the boy!! So not to be out done I did make one for him with ‘no pink’.

GiftCardHolder-Engagement-closedSo I first decided that I needed a ‘classy’ stamp set and you really cant go past Fifth Avenue Floral – it makes any card look good!

I wanted to make it extra special as it was for an engagement gift so I got out the very lovely Textured Whisper White cardstock from my Love Sparkles Simply Scrappin kit and stamped the images in Gold Encore Metallic ink and embossed in gold embossing powder.

This is a very simple front – just two flowers and the saying all embossed in gold. Just gorgeous!

I then made the base of the gift card holder out of the Gold cardstock in the brushed metallics pack – very nice cardstock to say the least. Most metallic cardstock is just coated but the Stampin Up Brushed Metallics is all the way through the cardstock. I love it!

GiftCardHolder-EngagementHere is the gift card opened.

I’ve just stamped the flower into the middle section and again embossed with Gold embossing powder. I’ve done this so it wasnt so plain on the inside.

As you can see the gift card just slides into the middle section of the gift card holder and there is plenty of room to write your message.

When closed you just slide the Kiwi Kiss Satin ribbon around it to secure it all together.

I do hope you like my Gift Card Holder – you can adapt it for any occassion just by changing the stamps and colours used.

Christmas Baubles

Its a bit of a dreary day here today so thought I’d share a little set of Christmas cards I’ve made. They are actually a case of the cards the USA Demonstrators made at their Convention recently in Utah.

White4x4RedGreen

These are just three very quick and easy Christmas cards. All the same design just a change in the colour and sentiment.

This one is done in the traditional Christmas colours of Red and Green and if you take a close look you will see I’ve added a Rhinestone brad to the smaller bauble.  The sentiment is embossed in Gold and is from the Many Merry Messages set.

White4x4BlueRedThis second card is done in Red and Blue – I love using blue with my Christmas cards so expect to see more Christmas cards using blue shades.

Same design and layout as the other just a change in the colours and greeting – the greeting on this card is from the Snow Swirled stamp set.

Here is the last one in this set and I made this card in these colours specifically for two very dear friends who love pink!

White4x4PinkGreen2The colours arent showing up too well but I’ve used Pixie Pink and Certainly Celery for the colours.

The greeting for this one comes from the Occassional Greetings Stamp Set.

Now I’m offering a class on this set .  Make 12 cards with matching envelopes for just $20.

Now I can do this class at my place or yours. If you want me to come to your house then you’ll need to have a minimum of 5 people attending – thats including you!

If you want to book in for the class at my house then please contact me as soon as possible to reserve your spot as my house is small and numbers are limited.

Silver Swirled

With Christmas fastly approaching I’ve had a few requests for Christmas cards in my stamp a Stack classes.

I love using ‘non traditional’ Christmas colours for my Christmas cards and you may notice over the past few years I usually have a blue and silver combination for Christmas.

BlueSilverEmbossedI wasnt overly fussed at this set but it does have snowflakes which I love to use in various ways and embossing this tree image in Stampin’ Up!®’s silver embossing powder just brings it to life – I love our embossing powders – they are so fine and work every time!

This card has actually been sitting on my desk for a few days waiting very patiently for its photo to be taken as I’ve been unwell the last few days but hopefully I’m on the improve now.

Recipe:
Stamps: Snow Swirled
Inks: Encore Metallic Silver
Paper: Night of Navy, Brushed Metallic Silver
Accessories: Heat Gun, Embossing Buddy, Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder, White Taffeta Ribbon, small rhinestone brad

This is a very quick and easy card and uses just the one stamp set and I’ve just added a small rhinestone brad to the centre of the star for a little extra bling.

Dont forget ALL order of $100 or more receive the lovely ribbon bundle which includes two rolls of 5/8″ ribbon in certainly celery and so saffron – good aussie colours ;)

Have a great night and may your footy team win this weekend!
