Convention Swaps

Well today is day two of the 2011 Stampin’ Up! Convention and I thought I’d share my swap cards I made.

This first one was made using a sketch from Cards n Things Sketch #76 and I couldnt go to Convention without making a swap using the gorgeous Morning Cup Stamp Set.

Recipe
Stamps: Morning Cup, Take a Sip Wheel
Ink: Jet Black Stazon, Elegant Eggplant, Pretty in Pink
Paper: Elegant Eggplant, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White, Lap of Luxury DSP
Accessories: Aqua Painter, Rose Red Stampin Write Marker, Circle Punches (1″, 1 1/4″, 1 3/8″), Scallop Trim Border Punch

For my second card I wanted to make a masculine card so immediately went for the French Foliage Stamp Set

Recipe
Stamps: Word Play, French Foliage
Inks: Early Espresso, Old Olive, More Mustard, Cajun Craze
Paper: Cajun Craze, Confetti White, Early Espresso
Accessories: Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Hemp Twine, Stampin Dimensionals

I hope some of the other demonstrators like my cards so I dont come home with too many of these.

I hope you like these too and they will be available as ‘Stamp A Stack’ cards after Convention.

Convention Swaps

One of the joys and highlights of Convention is swapping.  Its amazing to watch – and the chatter … wow! There’s nothing quite like making a swap and then realising that you’ve been talking to this person online for the last 12 months or so!

Here are the cards I made for my Convention Swaps …

This is one of my favourite cards and its been a hit with my customers too!

I actually made this card for my ESAD-SU Secret Sister back in March so havent been able to show it until now and the tulips are made using the very lovely Extra Large 2-step Bird punch available in the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue.

Recipe
Stamps: Cottage Garden
Paper: Cottage Wall DSP, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White, Old Olive, Lavender Lace, Pretty in Pink, Apricot Appeal
Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Perfect Plum, Lavender Lace, Pretty in Pink, Apricot Appeal
Accessories: Big Shot, Top Note die, Little Leaves sizzlits die, Polka Dot Impressions folder, Scalloped Oval Punch, Extra Large 2-step bird punch

This is my second card and its done using Pocket Silhouettes stamp set. This has to be one of the best value stamp sets and can literally be used for anything!

Recipe
Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes
Paper: Not Quite Navy, More Mustard, Whisper White
Inks: Sahara Sand, Tangerine Tango, Not Quite Navy, Old Olive
Accessories: Stampin Write Markers, Always Artichoke Grosgrain Ribbon

I’ve used the masking & sponging techniques on this card. I cut a rectangle out of a scrap piece of paper to create the ‘window’ then sponged it in Sahara Sand. I then stamped the leafy image in the same Sahara sand ink. It gives a dimensional look dont you think?

Here is my last swap card ….

Dont you just love the Tote-ally Tess set ??  For this card I’ve renamed it Totally Onie as it has all of my favourites on this card – Rich Razzleberry cardstock & ribbon, Cottage Wall DSP, Stamps and of course – coffee!

Recipe
Stamps: Tote-ally
Onie Tess , Sip by Sip
Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Cottage Wall DSP, Whisper White
Inks: Rich Razzleberry, Jet Black Stazon, Orchid Opulence, Chocolate chip reinker, Going Gray
Accessories: Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Grosgrain ribbon, Aqua Painter, Stamp-a-majig, Stampin Dimensionals

I’ve used the Paper Piecing technique for the Tote and used my Ink pads to watercolour with the aqua painter. I must say Tess was rather popular with the swappers.

Now here is a picture of all the swaps I received …

Now I did come home with some swaps of mine so if you would like one of my swaps then send me an email with your address and I’ll pop one in the post to you.

Diva Sketch Birthday

This weekend is a special Utah Divas International Sketch as it also happens to be our lovely Sketch Queen Carol’s birthday!

So Carol wishing you a doubly blessed birthday for today and may you be blessed with lots of love, presents and cake! Make sure you have an extra piece on my behalf!

Now as I’ll be at the Stampin’ Up!® Convention in Sydney next weekend and Miss E has her best friend’s birthday party to go to I thought I’d make this card for Alanis now.  Means I wont stress on Wednesday night when I’ve realised I haven’t done it!

Now Miss E and her friend are going through a ‘not pink’ phase so this is why we’ve gone with orange and red which are Alanis’ favourite colours.

Recipe
Stamps: Party Hearty, Sweet Little Sentiments
Inks: So Saffron, Real Red, Only Orange, Pixie Pink, Summer Sun
Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, Washington Apple
Accessories: Real Red Brad, stampin dimensionals, mat pack, paper piercing tool, circle scissor plus, snail adhesive.

I do hope you like the card. I quite like it even though these are colours I wouldnt normally use but I do like the Washington Apple DSP and should really use it more – its suitable for both male and female cards and projects.

I still have lots to get done before Thursday and am really excited to be meeting alot of lovely demonstrator friends I’ve made through the ESAD-SU group and some I’ll be meeting for the first time this year.

Thursday night is the Manager’s Reception – this is for all demonstrators of Manager level (me) and above to meet the staff from Head Offices in Australia and New Zealand as well as Shelli Gardner (CEO and Co-Founder) and the team from the Home Office in Utah.

Then Convention kicks off early Friday morning and finishes on Saturday night with the awards dinner.

Its all very exciting and really not sure I can wait another 5 sleeps!

Now its time to skip onto the lovely Max’s blog - Max is actually the lady who started Utah Divas group many moons ago and is very blessed as she works at the Stampin Up! Home Office in Utah, USA.

Convention Swaps

Can you believe I am ‘still’ trying to get back into the swing of things since returning from the Stampin’ Up! Convention in Canberra! Although, I do believe, some of the problem is dealing with the cooler weather which seems to have just shown up without a warning! I suffer from Fibromyalgia so the colder weather really does affect me to no end – must be time to visit my Dr and get a little extra help for the winter chills. Sometimes I really do think I should have been a bear and then I could just hibernate for the winter.

One of the great things about convention is the swaps. I only had time to make 40 swaps this year so they didnt last very long. These are the cards I made.

The card made with the Inspired by Nature stamp set I did in a variety of colours and some were done using Poppin Pastels technique and some where done using the Direct to Rubber with the markers.

So although I only did 40 swaps I still returned home with 40 different cards to inspire and case.

Two of the swaps I recieved I did case and use for my Stamp A Stacks last Saturday and Monday and the ladies really loved them too. I cased cards from two special friends – the lovely Kerri Hunter and Nicki Tidbold. These two great demonstrators have become very dear friends through Stampin’ Up! and I am blessed to called them friends.

pottedsilhouettesThis first one is the card I made after casing one of Kerri’s swaps. Its a simple but elegant card and very easy to make and all with just one stamp set – Pocket Silhouettes.

Recipe:

Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes
Inks: Sahara Sand, Basic Black
Paper: Tangerine Tango, Whisper White
Accessories: Stampin Write Markers, Small Oval Punch, Sponges, Dimensionals

pinksquarebloomThis second card was cased from one of Nicki’s Swaps.

This is another simple but elegant card and I’m a great admirer of Nicki’s work. She also did a presentation at convention on making Male themed cards which was awesome – well done Nic!

Recipe:

Stamps: Eastern Blooms
Inks: Regal Rose, Basic Black
Paper: Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Sweet Always DSP
Accessories: Small Oval Punch, Sponge Daubers, Chocolate Chip 1/4″ Grosgrain, Dimensionals, Dazzling Diamonds, 2 way glue pen, Scallop Border punch.

So as you can see Convention is more than just going and attending the business talks and the make & takes – its also about friendships and the swaps!!

Stampin’ Up!® Convention

Well what an awesome weekend it was in Canberra, Australia this past weekend. I think I’m still coming back down to earth!

This was the third Stampin’ Up!® Convention held in Australia and I’ve been to each one and I must say they just keep getting better and better! Stampin’ Up! is such a giving company and to have the founder of the Company make the trip here and be so gracious and happy to talk to anyone who wants to still amazes me – there arent many Company owners that would do that.

leonieshelliShelli Gardner is such an amazing woman and one so full of grace – much like those described in Proverbs and one who is not afraid to show her emotions whether she’s with one or two or four hundred. I have nothing but admiration for her.

Here I am with Shelli after the dinner and awards night.

It was an amazing night with a lot of women being awarded for their hard work and dedication. awardpins

I was very surprised to find that when I checked in on Friday morning that I was receiving not one but two awards!  How sweet is that!!

Here are the pins that I received when I checked in. The celebrate pin is just for those attending convention as this was the theme this year.

The 20K  pin is for those who sold between $20,000 and $30,000 – I was very close to getting the 30K pin but just could justify the extra spending to get there – besides there is always next year!

The Leadership pin is for having promotions in my first level of downline. This is the one I didnt realise I was getting and was very blessed to receive it. I do have a lovely team of girls and am blessed to also call them friends.

Another highlight of Convention was catching up with friends.  A couple of demo’s that have become close friends over the past 12 months are the gorgeous Nicki Tidbold and Stephanie Pike – and here we are after the awards night.stephleonienicki

Its with these two gorgeous ladies and Makeesha Byl that the ESAD-SU Demonstrator group was started and with all our members at convention I was totally blessed by all who came up to me to say hello. We also organised a brunch on the Sunday morning for the ESAD members and with some 40 crazy women stampers the staff at Tossolini’s in Canberra really do need to be congratulated – the food was lovely and the coffee even better!

If you have been thinking about joining Stampin’ Up! now is the perfect time. To celebrate Scrapbooking month Stampin’ Up! have brought out a Scrapping Starter Kit so you can join for just $150.00! How cool is that? to purchase your own business for just $150.00 and to run it when it suites you is pretty cool. Stampin’ Up! has given me the opportunity to work when it suites me and my family and allows me to be home when the kids get home from school. Something that is very important and also something that doesnt happen much these days.

Being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator means you can do as little or as much as you like and when you like. If you dont want to do demonstrations then that is fine – you can be a hobby demonstrator and buy for you and your friends if thats all you want to do. There are no penalties and no annual fees to pay each year.

The Scrapbooking Starter Kit contains the following:

Item Code Description Retail Value
112231 Schoolbook Serif Alphabet stamp set* $77.95
113059 Simply Scrappin’ Petal Party $36.95
108697 Earth Elements Assorted textured card stock (12″ x 12″) $21.95
105216 Pumpkin Pie Classic Stampin’ Pad $11.95
103179 Craft & Rubber Scissors $37.95

*Substitutable for any stamp set up to $77.95 value.

Please note: Each of the products listed above may be substituted for like items.  Please see the Scrapbooking Starter Kit Order Form for details.

Convention Swaps

One of the great benefits of attending a Stampin Up Convention is swaps. Not only does it put the pressure on before convention to get as many done as you possibly can and yes I was still up at 2am the nights before convention getting mine done! Here are the designs that I made …

TONConv2008Swap

SummerBreezeSwapConv2008

RoseTapestrySwapConv2008

I do hope you like them – if you see any you like please feel free to email me for the recipe. I did make a few but alas I ran out and have to send some to the lovely ladies who gave me a card after I’d run out.

Here is the array of lovely cards I got in return …

swaps

its a gorgeous assortment and I’m sure that my customers will love looking at them as much as I do! Thank you to all who swapped with me!
