Diva Sketch Challenge 42

Here we are at yet another Saturday …. they just come around so quickly!

sketch42

We have had a change in the Sketch Challenge Coordinator at Utah Divas so please help me in welcoming Carol Marbach as our lovely new coordinator.

Carol has some awesome sketches in store plus a few twists!! As if I dont twist them enough!!

Now because this is Carol’s first sketch I thought I’d be a good girl and not play with the sketch – well not in the first card I made – thats right I made two cards today!

If I didnt have a Class on today I’d probably make some more! So I might get some more done during the week – so we’ll see how time permits.

DSC42-thumptree

I havent had much time this week with demonstrations and migraines so havent had as much time for me to stamp.

Now when I first went to do this sketch I pulled out my trusty Fifth Avenue Floral set and wanted to use this paper from the Urban Garden Designer Series Paper and as soon as I grabbed the paper I had a sudden urge for a male card and this tree from Le Jardin Botanique! Well it is hubbies birthday on Tuesday so had to make him a card anyway!

I’ve done a little thumping on the tree and I must say I really do like how it turned out – looks a bit like a Silver Birch I think!  Thumping is a technqiue to do using your Stampin’ Write markers. You colour your stamp in the lighter colours first – I coloured the trunk in in Always Artichoke and then coloured the leaves in Bordering Blue.

I then took my Not Quite Navy marker and tapped it on the leafy area a bit like a drum stick using the side of the brush marker tip. I hope that makes sense – if not then I am more than happy to show you how! If you want it more of a mutted or mixed effect then just spritz very lightly with water.

DSC42-PinkStemHere’s the second card I made using the sketch.

I’ve used the flower stem again from Le Jardin Botanqiue which I’ve coloured using the Stampin’ Write markers and using the ‘direct to rubber’ technique. This is when you use your markers to colour in the stamp directly onto the rubber and then stamp onto cardstock. I’ve used the Mellow Moss, Pretty in Pink and Rose Red markers on this one. The patterned paper is from the Bella Rose Designer Series Paper pack.

The flower is a little shorter than the tree image so needed to fill in the bottom a little so just stamped a greeting from Three Little Words onto some Pretty in Pink cardstock and then trimmed it to give a banner effect.

These are both very quick and easy cards which can be done as part of a Stamp A Stack so contact me today to arrange your Stamp A Stack for you and your friends.

Best be off to get ready for today’s Class and make sure I have everything I need in my beloved trolley and make time for a Latte before I go.

Have a great Saturday and make sure you make some time for you this weekend!

Friends 24-7

Today I have a combination of two challenges.

A couple of weekends ago we held a Cyberstamp on our ESAD (Extremely Special Australian Demonstrators) Yahoogroup and one of the challenges for that was a Colour Challenge of Close to Cocoa, Baja Breeze and Pink Pirouette. Not a combination I would normally use but boy they are gorgeous together!

Diva Sketch Challenge #26

Diva Sketch Challenge #26

The second part of this challenge is this week’s Sketch Challenge from Utah Diva’s – Diva’s Sketch Challenge 26.  You can check out the Diva’s blog here. This is another group for Stampin’ Up Demonstrators but is an international group and by invitation so if youre a demonstrator and would like to get ideas from all over the globe then email me and I’ll send you an invitation.

Now for my card ….

dsc26-cocoabajapirouetteI have wanted to use this set again since last time and just havent had the time with my busy schedule and school holidays.

I’ve used the Friendly Words Wheel to do the Baja Breeze strip at the side and tied a piece of Kraft Taffeta ribbon tied around the bottom.

The base card is Close to Cocoa which I’ve stamped En Francais in Versamark then over on the right I’ve stamped the motif in Creamy Caramel. I think you can ‘just’ see it.

For the bird image I coloured it using my treasured Stampin Write Markers and then stamped onto whisper white. I also sponged around the edge of this piece in creamy caramel. I’ve then layered this onto a Baja Breeze square which I’ve sponged the edge in Baja Breeze and then turned it 90° to that of the whisper white piece.  I have done the same with the Pink Pirouette piece – sponged around the egdge in Pink Pirouette and again turned it 90° to that of the Baja Breeze piece. This panel I’ve then attached to the base card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I quite like how this card turned out and I hope you do too!

Have a totally blessed day and make sure you find yourself some time for a Latte and to stamp!

Inspired by ….

Today I popped over to visit my good friend and Stampin’ Up! Sister (we both have the same upline) Lisa today and after convincing the boys to finish their lunch we ventured to her craft room.

I didnt have alot of time to spare as I told hubby I’d be home by 2.30pm and Lisa had shown me what she’d done with Inspired by Nature flower stamp so I got to thinking on making a card with this very stamp – now this stamp is HUGE! so it doesnt take much to make a card with it as it will fill the front of a regular card.

tangerinekiwipoppinnature I had originally intended to do direct to stamp with the markers but it seemed the only markers Lisa didnt have were the ones I wanted! Always the way!

So I spotted the Stampin’ Pastels™ and the little “Poppin’ Pastels” light went on in my head so I grabbed the Pastels and the handy dandy Versamark pad and here is the card I came up with.

I just used the daubers and sponges to apply the pastels to where the image had been stamped in Versamark and the ink of the Versamark just grabs the pastels and soaks in the colour.  I also used darker colours to highlight the edges of the petals, leaves and middle of the flower.

The sentiment is from the Thoughts and Prayers stamp set. However it wouldnt quite fit into the Word Window punch so I cut the ‘Get Well Soon’ so it was thin enough to slide one end through the word window punch one at a time to do the edges. Then you do this to each end and you can then make your word window as long as you like. I then attached that to a 1cm strip of Tangerine Tango and just used the scissors to trim around the curves.

A few of my customers and Stamp A Stack ladies have asked for a get well card so I do hope they like this one.

Now as I was reading my emails tonight I found one from Dayspring. Dayspring is a company that makes cards and gifts with a Christian themes. They really have some gorgeous stuff and when I saw this picture of a canvas in their latest newsletter I wondered if they’d seen my Sip by Sip cards from Saturday and how did they know that this is one of my most favourite Psalms?

Silhouettes resist

Happy Easter Sunday to you!

easter-cross

I do hope youre having a relaxing Easter Sunday and not gobbling all your chocolate eggs down too quickly like my youngest did – she is a little over the chocolate right now! I’ve only had one piece and already my head is starting to hurt!

I have seen so many gorgeous cards made with Pocket Silhouettes so when I saw it was in our new Idea Book & Catalogue I just had to have it – and its a bargain at just $33.95 for 6 stamps!

stemsilcareHere is a card that I’ve had on my desk in various stages over the past week.

I dont normally do Emboss Resist and I’ve seen a few doing this technique lately so thought I’d have a go too!

I’ve sponged the background in Kiwi Kiss and Baja Breeze after stamping and embossing the silhouettes. The Background on the Pacific Point card is the Friendly Words jumbo wheel which makes an awesome background. The sentiment is from the Level 1 Hostess set Best Yet which is reason enough to hold a demonstration! It has six great sayings in it which I’m sure you will see here throughout the next 12 months!

When I had finished the card it looked a bit bare in the top left corner so I went looking for a butterfly to use and can you believe I dont have one set with a nice little butterfly in it so I’m just going to have to remedy that!

stemsilcarebflyI have Priceless which has a whimsical larger butterfly but that wouldnt have suited this card so I grabbed my retired Live your Dream set and just used that butterfly until I work out which set with a little butterfly I should get!

I stamped the butterfly once on Pink Pirouette and once on Baja Breeze cut them out with my awesome paper snips and mounted them on with the thin edging from the wonderful Stampin Dimensionals so it gives the impression they are in flight.

Here’s a close up of the butterflies so you can see what I mean.

Hope you do have a lovely (and safe) Easter weekend and make some lovely memories with family and friends!

Diva Sketch Challenge 25

Is it just me or are the weeks just flying through? It only seemed like a couple of days ago I posted my card for the DSC24 and here we are with the next one! I thought it was just week when it was 10 weeks till Stampin’ Up! Convention and now its just 19 days away!

Hopefully this week will slow down a little as we are all on two weeks’ school holidays so we can sleep in a little each morning – I love school holidays and those sleep ins!DSC25

While I was making my card last night for this sketch I thought of another so today you get two cards and here’s my first card.

I just love this coffee stain image and in the shape of a C too.  I think its just so clever.

Now I must apologise for the quality of this photo as I just  couldnt get a good shot of it. Maybe I need one of those little tent things or maybe I need a better camera or maybe I just need to read the manual so I know how to overcome those ‘bright bits’.

I have distressed around the edges of the Creamy Caramel layer and after stamping the coffee stain I lightly sponged in Chocolate Chip all around the image and a little darker around the edges of the cardstock.

The cups were just coloured with the Stampin Write markers and then stamped individually and I used my 1 1/4″ and 1 3/8″ square punches to layer the coffee cups.

dsc25teapartysipHere is my second card.

I’ve used some of the gorgeous paper from the new Tea Party Designer Series Paper pack. This was the first time I’ve cut into any of the new DSP packs and thought I was very brave to do so! This pack is just gorgeous with beatiful colours and it was hard to cut this piece as it has a gorgeous pattern on the back!

Again I’ve just used the Stampin’ Write markers to colour the cup images and the square punches to layer them. I’ve also used my Elegant Eggplant marker to colour in the words only and stamped that directly onto the Designer Series Paper.

I do hope you like my challenge cards and dont be surprised to see the Sip by Sip stamp set and the Tea Party DSP used in lots of samples in upcoming months

Have a great Saturday and make sure you have all the eggs you need for tomorrow and have a chocolate egg for me as I’m on my Weight Watchers diet and trying to be very good but this IS chocolate we are talking about!!

Chocolate Motif

Today I wanted to share with you a card I made yesterday. I gave this as a thank you to a friend for holding a demonstration for me.

I have a few new stamp sets to create and share with you and I just love the Friends 24-7 set. Besides I needed another bird set to replace my beloved Touch of Nature.

chocolateskyty

Although it doesnt have a butterfly in this set it does have a lovely bird, flower and this motif I used in this card.  It also has a couple of lovely sayings. Six wonderful stamps in this set for just $45.95 and they are all diecut so quick & easy to assemble and play with!

If you look closely at this card you will see that I’ve used the motif to also make the background on the Chocolate Chip card.

You might also notice the 1/4″ Chocolate Chip Grosgrain ribbon which I am very happy to have back in our 2009-2010 Idea Book & Catalogue.

I’ve also used the new eyelet border punch to create the piece under the striped designer series paper. I have made the ‘lace’ using the punch and vellum.

The sentiment stamp comes from the Occassional Greetings stamp set.

I was very happy at how this card turned out and will now have to find a current Designer Series Paper pack to create it with.

Have a great day and go grab a latte and put your feet up for a bit before the kids get home from school!

Diva Sketch Challenge #20

Well here we are at yet another Saturday … they seem to coming around alot quicker these days!

Firstly let me apologise for the lateness in this post. I had a busy day today with a demonstration (yes not a Stamp A Stack but a real life demo!) for friends today and I’m glad they felt the need to buy as much as they could on the retirement list! Of course I was happy to help them as well!!

Now onto the sketch ….

Now this sketch has lots of possibilities and you might just see one or two more in the upcoming week using this sketch.

I really want to spotlight some of the sets that will be retiring at the end of March and there is none better than to start with “Like it a Latte”.  I am sad to see this one go and really do hope it will be replaced with another coffee set I’ve seen in the USA Idea Book & Catalogue – surely they’d have to have at least one coffee set right??

I also wanted to use a different colour with this set. In the past its usually been the browns with a bit of Pretty in Pink or Purely Pomegranate so wanted to get away from that so went with Bashful Blue and Really Rust – I havent used that combination before but really like how well they do go togethdsc20-bashfulrustlatteer.

Here is my card and look …. can you see its done the same as the sketch!! I wonder if anyone will notice! Hopefully Alicia wont spurt her morning coffee all over her monitor and keyboard!

Recipe:
Stamps: Like it a Latte
Papers: Really Rust, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, Very Vanilla, Bashful Blue.
Inks: Bashful Blue, Really Rust, Creamy caramel, Pretty in Pink
Accessories: Stampin Dimensionals

With the cup I stamped it in Bashful blue and stamped the heart in really rust on a scrap piece of vanilla cardstock then cut out the heart and layered it flat on the cup. The froth is stamped onto Vanilla cardstock in Close to Cocoa, cut out then mounted using Stmapin Dimensionals.

I hope you like this little card and can you work out where I used the Pretty in Pink ink??

Have a greasinglelattesigt weekend

Swirly Treats

Yesterday I shared the card I made using the Carte Postale stamp set & the Leaves à la Carte wheel which is part of the Free Wheelin’ promotion from Stampin’ Up! for September.

Today I want to share with you the projects we made at Friday’s class and  Monday’s demonstration.

I love seeing the peoples’ faces when they realise my projects are a lot easier to make than they look. The joy and the excitement makes me feel I’ve done my job!

These projects are based on the Pull Treats by my good friend Beate Johns on Splitcoast Stampers.

I’ve taken the sachets of chocolate/coffee’s and just adjusted the sizes so ours will fit inside nicely. You will need to use sticky strip when sticking the sides together as it has a much stronger hold than the Snail Adhesive.

This one fits the long thin sachets you can get for coffees & hot chocolates and what a lovely way to present them as a little gift to let someone know you’re thinking of them!

This one was made using the Like it a Latte set (how could you go wrong with a ‘Latte’ set?) I’ve used Close to Cocoa, Purely Pomegranate and Pretty in Pink for the colours.

The little card opens to reveal a message.  I have also stamped the ‘froth’ onto very vanilla and given it a little sponging with Creamy Caramel and raised the image using dimensionals to give the foam a 3d look.

You can see in this photo this photo the dimensional froth. Hmmm I can just about smell it – must need another latte!

We also made a Pull Treat for the other sachets you can buy – they are a rectangular shape and again have just adjusted the dimensions to house this sized sachet.

For this I’ve used the Priceless bundle from the Free Wheelin’ promotion.

I’ve used the So Swirly wheel in the Whisper White Craft Ink – it creates an awesome pattern and whenever I demonstrate this at a workshop everyone is wowed at how well it looks.

The feature is done using the swirls, sentiment, butterfly and flower stamps from the Pricless set. Now this set is great value alone – 11 stamps for just AU$48.95 and when you add the free So Swirly wheel during September it makes a great affordable purchase and would also make a great christmas present!

I’ve used creamy caramel, pretty in pink and Purely Pomegranate inks and the “Rock and Roll” technique on the butterfly and flowers. I’ve also used the Purely Pomegranate Satin ribbon from the Spring Mini Catalogue. These work by when you pull the ribbon/bow up the inserted treat/surprise comes out.

You’ll also notice my sponging around the edge of the cardstock as well. You may notice I do that a lot as I love the soft effect it gives to the edges and helps it blend in to the next layer.

I’ve used brads in the centre of the flowers and for the butterfly body. I’ve then used a dimensional to adhere them to the card giving the ‘floating’ look.

You can see by the photo here how they are attached – I know some hate to cut out but it really does give a better look and feel to a project.

I do hope you like these Pull Treats and if you would like to order one of the bundles then just give me a call or send me an email. The Free Wheelin’ promotion finishes on 30th September so you have just under a week left to decide which bundles you want!

Here is another of the pull treats done in elegant eggplant and the plums from the soft subtle range.

These sized pull treats would make great little gifts to those friends and family members with a flu or cold and just adding a cup o soup sachet or the lemsip ones you can get now.

You could also make these and instead of inserting a sachet pop in a tag that you can attach a gift voucher or gift card to. The possibilities are endless.

Tomorrow we start our trip to country Victoria to visit family and friends. We will be away for two weeks – not sure how I’ll cope with no demonstrations or workshops for that long!

I do love to catch up with my customers regularly and stamp with them.

I can still place orders for you so if you need anything just email me or get me on my mobile!

Stay safe and see you in a few days!

.. .. ..

Happy Mail!!

Dont you just love it when your happy mail (ie. mail without a window face!) arrives for you and you werent expecting it?? Well I do as so many days the bills outweigh the ‘happy mail’ here – but not yesterday!

I got many envelopes for a swap I’m hosting on the “Aussie” Demonstrator Only group I moderate and I must say the quality in work of these cards is simply stunning!

One package had a birthday card for me in it as well.

How nice is this card from Charmaine?

The Seaside Stamp set makes great cards for all occasions.

The soft tones that Charmaine has used makes it great for any occasion – and her penmanship inside is just stunning. Would love to be able to do calligraphy – maybe one day!

But wait!! There’s more!

Yesterday I had a terrible thing happen when a bottle of Orange Juice popped open while sitting in my handbag (yes its a long story cut very short!) Well we all know how strong the smell of Orange Juice is – all that vitamin C bursting out no doubt. Well imagine it in a hand bag soaking into the ‘man made’ leather and lining and not to mention the tissues, shop dockets/receipts and anything else we have in our bags – it even went inside the barrel of one of my pens! ugh

This all happened while out shopping and lunching with my sister and good friend (and downline) Sharon. By the time I got home I decided I needed to go shopping for a new bag to improve my mood – well after 2 shopping centres I still havent found what I’m looking for!! However I did come home to a box of lovelies from my good friend Steph.

How well does this girl know me?

She put in some bullets (chocolate coated licorice), a bag of coffee from Gloria Jeans (and yes I tested it today and its soooo nice!), a gorgeous birthday card in one of my favourite colour combinations and a little love note box complete with love notes & envies all decorated in the Summer Picnic papers and using the Tart and Tangy set (one that hasnt grabbed me yet) and I just love love love it all.

Can you tell I dont get pressies like this often?? Yes I’m excited!!

Now if you would like to see a close up of the love notes and box then you’ll have to pop on over to Steph’s blog.

Ok my birthday present I ordered in has arrived so I’m off to go pick that up for hubby … how good am I to him!! hehe

.. .. ..

An Award and a Latte!

I’ve been tagged by two lovely ladies!

Firstly, by my dear ‘always’ friend Kerri Hunter who awarded me with this award …

award1

Kerri and I met through Stampin’ Up!® and I treasure our friendship so much – she is an awesome stamper and totally amazes me with all she does every day without a second thought! Check out her blog – she does such lovely work. Thanks Kerri so much!

Now to pass this award onto five bloggin buddies ….

  1. Makeesha Byl – this lady is just awesome. She was the recipient of the first Australian “heart of Stampin Up!® award and is so deserving of it. Through Stampin’ Up!® we have become good friends – oh and she does really lovely work too!!
  2. Vanessa Webb – one of my downline and a great friend. Its hard to believe that prior to joining Stampin’ Up!® Ness had never stamped! Yes its true!!
  3. Nicole Stalker – I’ve known Nikki for quite a few years but only recently managed to get together after we realised the only time we saw each other was at Stampin’ Up!® conventions! Sad but true but we have remedied that now – see you next week Nikki! Oh she does awesome work too!
  4. Sharon Davis – this is another lady who amazes me with all she gets done – working full time, running a large household, wife/nurse to a Vet and also manages time for Stampin’ UP!® – it makes me tired just to think about all she does!
  5. Michelle’s Stamping Ground – this lady has become a special friend since convention and she always has time to message me on msn and see how I am. Her blog is looking great now she’s posting more so go check it out and encourage her!

I am sure they’d all love to hear from you! Now when I started blogging I never thought anyone would read my posts let alone give me awards! So each and every award I get really means alot.

Now for the machine. I have a thing for coffee – yes I know … you never knew! lol Well a few weeks back I was very sternly told not to buy any more espresso machines and not to even look at them.

EM5600_lWell my DH rings me today and suggests I go to The Good Guys and check out the latte machine they have there on sale – so whats a Latte Lover supposed to do??

Needless to say I didnt need much convincing and its now adorning my kitchen bench.

Doesnt it look great?? and it even comes with a DVD so its gotta be good right??

Now next time your over remember to ask me for a Latte!

Now I’m off to read the instructions and make a cuppa!

Just Add Chocolate

ChocCardInsert A couple of months ago I got a lovely RAK from Maria in Texas, USA and I just loved how she did the card and its ‘insert’ and have kept it on my desk for one of those ‘spare minutes’ to make one up myself.

Well I decided on the weekend that I really love the “I like it a Latte” set and rarely use it so I thought what better set to use casing this card of Maria’s. The Like it a Latte set is a great set as you can use it for cocoa/hot chocolate or for coffee.

Here you can see the inside of the card as well as the the ‘Pull Treat’ that I was inspired to make after receiving one as a swap at convention from Carol. It holds one of those cappuchino sachets you can buy in packs at the supermarket and I followed the tutorial at Splitcoast Stampers. The only tip I have about these Pull Treats is to measure what youre inserting and make sure it will fit nicely in there as if its too snug the adhesive will no hold properly.

ChocCardPullOpenHow cool to send this card to a friend who needs a little pick me up?  Or just to someone to let them know youre thinking of them??

You could even adapt it for anything – how about a get well card and include a sachet of chicken cup-of-soup!

I have a friend who does the pull treats and pops them in a mug and some marshmallows as a gift for friends and hostesses.

I do have another friend who has had a very trying week with all sorts of things not going right for her so I might just pop this in the post to her today!

Now if you would like to see how to make this cute card then contact me to book in your workshop today and I’ll show you just how easy it is!
