Diva Sketch Challenge 18

I cant believe how quickly these Saturday’s are coming around!

Is it just me or do the weeks go a bit quicker than what they used to? When I was working full time in the Bank I can remember how the weeks used to drag on and on … maybe its because I havent had to go back to a ‘real job’ as some would put it and I love sharing card making and paper crafting and its such a huge bonus to earn an income from it! I love this job!!

Here is this weeks Diva’s Sketch Challenge.

Now when I first looked at this sketch I thought “Oh dear .. what on earth will I do with that??”

So today, after getting home from my Stamp A Stack, I had a thought and well it sorta progressed from there! Scary how that happens sometimes!

I have wanted to make a card for a dear friend who had an operation this week so I thought I’d make this one for her. My daughter and hubby love what I did although I’m still a little unsure about it and I do hope my friend likes this card.

So here is my card. Now to keep with tradition I had to change something so I used an oval instead of the circle in the sketch.

I think I will miss our current In Colours when they retired at the end of March – I love them all and still not totally sure about the upcoming In Colours although I do like the soft Pink Pirouette.

As a word of warning if you happen to own any of the In Colour ink pads and want to get reinkers DO NOT leave it till the last minute – last year the reinkers were gone within the first week of the release of the Retirement list.

Now I’m off to relax and watch some TV with my dear hubby who’s been good to be home and watch the girls today and especially now that Emily’s cold has turned into the flu – poor poppette!

Have a great weekend!

A bit of this and a bit of that

Well today I am headache free (touch wood) which is a great feeling after a three day headache :( although poor Emily still has a fever, headaches and upset tummy. Took her to the doctor today who confirmed what I thought and said it was a virus and to keep doing what I’m doing so obviously I wont be child free tomorrow being the first day back at school.

Now onto the cards!

caramelcollageIn my previous stamping life I loved using Collage stamps and have missed those cards made using them and have drooled over the collage stamps that have been released by Stampin’ Up! in USA and other markets. I figured that’s OK as all the stamps in each set coordinate and go so well together I figured I’d make my own collage cards with various sets.

So I started with the En Françias background stamp and just grabbed a set and used a couple of the different stamps to make the collage.

This first one is done using the Touch of Nature set. I stamped the En Francais stamp onto the creamy caramel card in versamark then grabbed the butterfly and stamped randomly on the edges in creamy caramel and the leafy branch in more mustard. After I was happy with how it looked I sponged some pastels over the versarmark image to make it pop and sponged creamy caramel and close to cocoa around the edges of the card.

I’ve then used my stampin write markers to colour the bird stamp directly to the rubber then stamped on very vanilla then stamped the sentiment under the bird. I coloured the branch image with the markers again and stamped onto very vanilla and cut out and layered over the matted bird image.

This one was done again starting with the En Francais background stamp in versamark on Almost Amethyst cardstock. I have then used various stamps from the Carte Postale set in varying shades of purple randomly on the card.

The sentiment is from the Define your Life stamp set. The birds were stamped in Elegant Eggplant onto Almost Amethyst then cut out and layered on top.

Sponging the chalks over the versamark and inks around the edges gives these cards a lovely vintage look.

These cards may look involved but they really are very easy. If you find that if you’ve stamped too many images on the card its all good as each piece of cardstock comes with two sides ;) so just turn it over and start again and this time you’ll know how much is enough.

I hope you like these cards and if you’d like to learn about making these collage cards then contact me to find out about my technique classes starting soon.

Have a great day and keep stampin ;)

4×4

LoveHearts4x4

No No I’m not talking about a plank of wood but small and addictive little cards!Friends4x4

They are quick to make and you can get 3 out of an A4 sheet or 4 out of a 12×12 sheet of cardstock.

These ones here are all using stamps or papers from the Summer Mini Catalogue. They can be cute and quirky (yes its a word) like these two cards using the Love Matters set.

Here is one just using one greeting stamp from Love Matters and using the printed paper from the Loves Me Designer Series Paper pack.

I also used the Carte Postale and a couple of offcuts from the Enchante Designer Series paper pack to make these two elegant cards. It doesnt matter what you do with the Carte Postale set – they all turn out elegant!

I originally wasnt going to buy this set but then I saw so many nice things with it and there are 11 stamps in the set so it works out to be very good value how could one say no??

I hope you like these little cards and I am considering having a monthly card kit for sale each month and no doubt you will see a few of these cards in those packs – email me for more details for signing up for these card kits.

Happy 40th to Matt

A friend asked me to make a card for her husband’s 40th birthday – I happily said I would and then later I thought …. ohhhhh a masculine card? I so struggle with male/masculine cards so I’m wondering if these fit the bill?

MonAmie Now I did say I struggle with male cards didnt I?? Another friend of ours was pouring through the Summer Mini catalogue when she came across the Carte Postale set and suggested I use that – its a great set of 11 stamps (yes 11) and can be used for all occassions.

I decided to check out the gallery at SCS and managed to find a few to case. As you know when you case a card it never turns out the same as you always add your own little touch but its a great website to get your creative juices flowing.

This is a plain and simple one using the Carte Postale set and my new linen background. I think it turned out to be quite an elegant card – maybe not a ‘man card’. I used Sahara Sand, Vintage Violet and Basic Black Cardstock. I stamped the images in Versamark and Vintage Violet. simpledamask

This second one is using the CartePostale set again and using some of the patterned papers from the Enchante Designer Series Papers (love that paper!) I love this combo of green and purple and it only needs an embellishment and maybe some ribbon to make it a feminine card.

This one was very simple and enables the sender of the card give it for any occassion.

Now this last one has to be my favourite!

Now I’m not sure if you can see it – but on the main image I have first stamped in Sahara Sand after stamping off first and then stamped over in Vintage Violet. I did this to give like an embossed or drop shadow effect -maybe the smaller close up of the image shows this a little better?

masculinemonogramwflowershowingshadow

I have used the green paper from the Enchante Designer Series Pack again with Basic Black, Whisper White, Vintage Violet and Mellow Moss Cardstock. I have cut the flower out and lifted it with Stampin’ Dimensionalsâ„¢ and layered it on whisper white and basic black – I used the Marvy Scalloped Circle punch here as well.

I think I’m going to have to make another as I really like it and dont want to part with it! I think its ok to give a man – dont you?
