Stamping Techniques 101 – Monochromatic

Welcome to another International Blog Hop for the Stamping Techniques 101 Design Team ….

StampTech101

This month we are sharing Monochromatic Cards!

I have used the lovely Awesomely Artistic Stamp Set …

st101-monochromatic-1116

The colours I’ve used are Basic Black, Basic Gray, Smoky Slate and Very Vanilla and I’ve added in some Silver Embossing for good measure.

While the card looks involved here’s what I did …

  1. Score and fold basic black card base, adhere Basic Gray Layer, adhere Smoky Slate Layer
  2. On Very Vanilla stamp flowers in Smoky Slate top left and middle right on layer. Stamp splatter stamp (after stamping off first) around flowers.
  3. Cut Banners in Basic Gray and Very Vanilla. Cut thin strip and punch ends with Triple Banner Punch.
  4. Stamp Flower stamp on extra piece of Very Vanilla in Versamark. Sprinkle over Silver Embossing Powder, shake off excess and heat.  Cut out with Paper Snips.
  5. Using your cut out flowers as a guide stamp the small leaf and splatter stamp on vanilla banner.
  6. Stamp Frame in Basic Black on Vanilla and Friend inside Frame in Basic Gray. Cut out with Paper Snips.
  7. Adhere Banners to card with Tombow Liquid Multipurpose Glue.
  8. Adhere Embossed flowers to banner with dimensionals.
  9. Adhere Friend Frame to banner below flowers with Tombow Liquid Multipurpose Glue
  10. Decorate Embossed Flower with Dimensionals (optional)

st101-monochromatic-1116-side

I loved making this card and there are a few steps but they are fairly easy to do.  If you arent good with embossing then you dont have to emboss – simply stamp your flowers in Basic Grey as you want them to stand out from the flowers in the background.  You can still add the rhinestones to give it a lift.

I do hope you liked my card today and be sure to pop over and check the other Design Team Blogs for their Monochromatic cards.

Irresistibly Floral

Well that weekend went fast so welcome to another Monday!

My weekend was spent in Canberra with some dear friends and on the Saturday my dear friend Ann Craig held a Card Buffet to help raise funds (and cards) for Ronald McDonald House Charities.

I made a couple using the gorgeous Irresistibly Floral Specialty Designer Series Paper …

BBBloominBirthday-RMHC

This was my first one.  All the papers are embossed with different designs so it’s just a matter of spongeing your chosen colour – I used Bermuda Bay for this one – then decorating it as you like – you could add just a ribbon and simple sentiment however I chose to do a tag greeting and embellished it with gorgeous flower cut outs using the Flourish Thinlits.

BlissBloominBirthday-RMHC

This one uses one of the other patterns from the Irresistibly Floral Specialty Designer Papers and sponged with Blackberry Bliss. Now I know Blackberry Bliss is retired but you could use Rich Razzleberry for the same colour tones.  I sponged all over lightly then added more colour to the centre of random flowers.

How well does that diecut from the May Flowers Thinlits go with that design?  That’s one of the best thing about Stampin’ Up! – their products are designed to coordinate with each other.

It was all set up so we could choose what cards we wanted to make and take the supplies to make it, sit and create that card and then return the supplies and create another card from the ‘buffet’.

I had such a wonderful time creating in Ann’s Studio and meeting her lovely customers.  I was so impressed I’m going to run my own Card Buffet for World Cardmaking Day – well World Card Making Weekend!  It’s on our October Long Weekend so will hold the Buffet on Sunday and Monday – here are the details …

So for today’s Blog Hop I’ve decided to create using the lovely new Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper.

This pack is awesome and there’s lots of designs and prints to use for all your Christmas projects and uses the colours Real Red, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake and Whisper White.

Here’s a couple of Note Cards I made …

SweetNoteCards

They are sweet arent they?

SweetNote2

This first one uses the ‘sweets’ paper and I’ve cut a couple of the candies, candy canes and a gingerbread man out to use as embellishments .

SweetNote1

This one I’ve used the same patterned paper with the gingerbread man again and a couple of sweets. The sentiment from the Cookie Cutter Christmas set works perfectly.

I’ve cut my sentiment into a rectangle and used my Layering Squares thinlit dies to create the scalloped mat.

SweetNote1a

I did notice as I was putting these two layers together that the scalloped rectangle looked an awful lot like one of the old Chocolate Cream biscuits from Arnotts!

Here’s another card made using the ‘house’ paper from the pack …

CCLHouses

I had fun making this card – I’ve used the Gently Falling Embossing Folder on my Whisper White layer and also on my Crumb Cake card base just to give the card a little more depth.

The houses are cut from the patterned paper which is quite easy to do with our Paper Snips.  I did snip the chimney off the house on the right and pop it on the other side of the roof to balance the card.   I’ve also added some clear Wink of Stella to the roof tops to make the snow all glimmery!

My sentiment comes from the very gorgeous Star of Light Stamp set and the Real Red Enamel heart embellishments work perfectly.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  It’s now time to visit the very lovely Delys and see what she’s created.  Simply click here or click the next button below to hop to the next blog

Birthday Llama

So yesterday was my hubby’s Birthday.  He has a thing about Llama’s.

Personally, I dont see what it is about Llama’s but they are everywhere at the moment. Although I see their value on farms to keep foxes and such away.  I mean if you knew something was going to spit and stomp on you you’d stay right away from it wouldnt you?

Here’s his Birthday Card …

LlamaBirthday

I added some Turquoise and Cucumber Thick baker’s twine around the burlap and frayed the ends to give it a Peruvian K’eperina feel.

Now when I purchased the Birthday Fiesta I told him he’d be getting Llama Birthday Cards, Llama Father’s Day and Llama Christmas just so I’d get my money’s worth!

I couldnt go past Llama-fying the inside …LlamaBirthdayInside

I did have a little fun doing the inside – ok so they are a little comical here.

He did like his card and now I just have to work out what to do for Father’s day which is like 3 weeks away!

Thanks for stopping by …

Freshly Brewed Projects – Feathers

Good Afternoon – welcome to another week of Freshly Brewed Projects from the Latte Girls!

frshlybrewedproject

This week our theme is – Feathers or Feathered Friends.

Thinking about this theme draws me immediately to the new Best Birds Bundle.  I was horrified when they retired the Bird Punch but wow they have made up for it with whats in this framelits set!

Now if you know me you know I have a thing for Birdhouses and this is what I made for today’s project …

BirdhouseCard

Yes I did have fun creating this new style of card and since I’m feeling pretty today (got my hair coloured last night) I’m going to share with you how to create it!

  1. Cut card base (10.5cm x 29.7cm), score at 14.8cm fold and burnish.  make a mark half way across the top fold (5.25cm) and 5cm down on each side.  Score from centre top to each 5cm mark.  Burnish Score lines pushing the top fold inside the card – this will create your point.
  2. Cut the next layer (Soft Sky) 10.2cm x 14.5cm.  Mark half way at top (5.1cm) and 5cm down each side. Cut these two corners off using your trimmer.  Stamp this layer with the Hardwood stamp in Sahara Sand.  Using your Layering Circles Framelits cut a circle in the centre.  Sponge all the edges including inside of circle and actual circle cut out.
  3. Stamp, Colour and Cut your birds, branch & flowers and assemble as shown. Make sure you put your circle cut out behind your bird inside the birdhouse.
  4. Stamp Sentiment, punch end with Triple Banner Punch, Sponge edges and affix to card.

As I started with a regular card base your card should fit into a standard C6 envelope.

I do hope you like today’s card and I’d love your feedback so feel free to leave a comment.

Now be sure you hop over to Libby and Narelle’s blogs to see what they’ve created this week.

Irresistibly Tweet

Good Morning!

Well it’s another new work/school week and I must say I do love Monday’s and the serenity after a weekend of classes, teenagers and family stuff!

Now Saturday I shared my Happy Birthday Cupcake card and not sure if you noticed that circle piece behind the cupcake or not but it was taken from today’s Irresistibly Tweet card …

BirdBranch
How Irresistibly Tweet is this card?  See where I punched the Circle from? and being frugal I used it on the Happy Birthday Cupcake card – that paper is much too nice to throw in the scrap bin!

I love this card and it’s so much fun to make! It was cased from one Sara showed at the South Pacific Convention in May.

I love the sentiment but didnt want to use all of it so snipped it to the part I wanted to use.
That Tree Builder Punch definitely gets a work out with this card!  How sweet is that itty bitty flower? yes that’s from the punch too!

The background paper I’ve used is from the Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper and I’ve taken one of the white embossed pieces and spritzed it with a mix of rubbing alcohol and Pool Party Reinker.  You can mix the reinker with water however using the rubbing alcohol allows the paper to dry quicker.  You could also use your heat tool to speed up the drying process if need be.

Have you loved the projects I’ve shared so far using the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set and Tree builder Punch?  I sure hope so as I had so much fun making them!

Each year Stampin Up issues a ‘Charity Stamp Set’ of which they donate a set amount to Ronald McDonald House Charities – how cool is that! They’ve been doing it for years and to such a worthy charity too!

Now in addition to Stampin’ Up! donation I’m also donating for every Sprinkles of Life Set or Stamp Set & Tree Builder punch duo I sell!  Not only will I donate funds to Ronald Mcdonald House Charities but I’ll also be giving you tutorials as well when you buy these items from me.

Here’s how you can help …

  • Purchase the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set from me and Stampin’ Up will donate $3 and I’ll also donate $3 plus you’ll receive 2 free tutorials.
  • Purchase the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set & Tree Builder Punch and in addition to Stampin’ Up!’s donation I’ll donate $10 plus you’ll receive 4 free tutorials
  • Purchase the Sprinkles of Life Class tutorials for $10 and I’ll donate $2.50
  • Purchase the Sprinkles of Life Class by mail (kit and tutorials) for $20 and I’ll donate $5

So there’s lots of ways you can enjoy this Stamp Set and help me help those families who desperately need a little help with sick kids in hospital.  You can read more about all the awesome work Ronald McDonald House Charities does here.

Thanks for stopping by and please dont hesitate to contact me should you have any questions and be sure to pop back tomorrow for the final project we made in class on Saturday.

Catch ya latte ….

Wonderful Weekly Deals

Good Morning

Apologies for not getting these deals to you yesterday – I’ve come down with the flu and it’s knocked me off my feet.  My advice to you is that if your teenager comes up to you and says “Mama, I feel sick – I need a hug” do not hug her because you’ll end up ill too!  But then as Mother’s it’s what we do!

Today I have made a card for you to highlight a few of the products featured in this week’s Weekly Deals ….

DDC1006-WD
I do love the World of Dreams stamp set and dont use it nearly enough so today I thought I’d ink it up and share a card with you.  This card also uses the Square Framelits and Decorative Dots embossing folder.

Here are this week’s deals for you …
