Spicey Notes

Happy Saturday to you! I hope you are well and if you’re anything like me your busy preparing for Christmas with shopping and what not.  We got our tree up last night – funny story as hubby wanted a 5 foot tree and we sorta ended up coming home with a 7 foot tree! Thats ok cos it was in sections so we just left one section out and wallah – instant 5 foot tree!! So glad he only got the box of 300 Christmas Tree lights and not the box of 600 lights!!

Now being Saturday its time for another Sketch challenge from Utah Divas International group and here is this week’s sketch …

Now I can see you imagining a lovely simple Christmas card with some snowflakes – right??

Well thats what I thought to start with but then my mind started to wander and since tomorrow I have a Project Class on I wanted to make something with this sketch – something that could be used either by the ladies coming or given as a gift for Christmas and this is what I came up with ….

I’ve used the new Spiced Cake DSP in the new Summer Mini Catalogue and I just love this paper and can see me going through quite a few packs over the next few months!

This would make a great gift for Mums, Dads, or students on their desk or maybe even as a Teacher Thank You gift.  It could lie flat on your desk or pop a couple of magnets on the back and attach it to the fridge.

I hope you like this little message centre and I hope the ladies like it tomorrow too!

Dont forget to stop by the Utah Divas International Blog for links to what the other Designing Divas have created with this sketch.

Trendy Gifts

In March we started a new round of Secret Sister on our Aussie Demonstrator group – ESAD.  As you shared in the wonderful gifts I recieved I was unable to share the gifts I sent just in case my Secret Sister was a visitor to my blog.

Now that this round is over I can share with you the gifts I sent and here is the first lot I sent …

I went with a Raspberry Tart theme for the first month.  At the back is a small diary that cover 16 months that I pick up from The Warehouse each year – they are just $1 and I just pop in some Designer Series Paper so make it their own.

Next we have the organiser.

It is simply an Easel Card with a drawer put on the bottom – very easy to do.

I’ve popped a small calendar on the top of the drawer and then in the drawer I have note paper and a small mechanical pencil.

Then the card I sent …

Again using the Raspberry Tart papers and matching the trees to the pinks and reds of the paper. I quite like the pink trees and I know I have some friends who will just love them too!

Now see the little bird on the card?  I have a RAK for the first person to tell me what set the bird came from – so go grab your catalogues and start searching!

Now dont forget …..

  • Deals of the Week finishes tonight so you’ll need to ring me if you want anything
  • Special Starter Kit price of $259 is good until 31st July,2010 – you can even sign up online you just need a credit card and an Australian Business Number.

Feel free to ring or email me if you have any questions regarding either of these specials or would just like to sign up for my newsletter.

Coaster Calendar

Well yesterday my big girl didnt last long at her first day of High School – I had to pick her up after 2 hours as she was feeling rather sick – too many nerves I think but today she’s back and so far so good ;)   She’s made new friends and can you believe there are three girls in her class all with the same name! Hopefully today I will have the whole day to myself!

This calendar is one that I started before I went away on holidays – I had hoped to give a few as Christmas presents but that wasnt meant to be as I just had too much to do before we left. I can still send them on as ‘just because’ gifts.

So here’s the cover

Here are all the pages that make up the calendar

As you can see I’ve tried to make the months in colours that suite the season they are in – not always easy when most things Christmas have snow on them and well Christmas in Australia is rather hot!

I hope you like this little calendar and I will be running a class for this on 25th February and as my house is small places are limited to ring and book in today!

Teacher Gifts

Well we are officially on school holidays here for the Summer break for around six weeks or so.

The girls took these gifts for their teachers … they both managed to have two teachers this year so that meant 4 gifts.  I consulted a lovely teacher and asked what would make a good teacher’s gift. I wanted to make something useful and not just send something in to be put in a cupboard somewhere.

All the items for each teacher were done using the same patterned paper from the new Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper from the Summer Mini Catalogue.  I just love the colours and designs in these papers!

Two of the teachers had a handmade acetate gift box with toffees inside and the other two had a Votive candle in a holder that was decorated with rubons and also presented in an acetate box.

I do believe all the Teacher’s loved their gifts and one is already talking to people for a class next year.

At least I know now what to make for the teacher gifts next year – hoping that Miss E doesnt get the same teacher next year or I’ll have to think of something else …. or my sister will!

Thanks Jo for the guidance

Sweet Stampin Sister

The other week I mentioned about the Secret Sister program I’m in on the ESAD-SU Yahoogroup well last Thursday I received another lovely surprise in the mail – I just love those surprises that you get and its a great change from those surprises that come in the window faced envelopes – actually I think they are shockers rather than surprises!

OctoberCalendarCard

This is the great little gift I received just last week. A lovely card using the Sweet Always Designer Series papers and in the gorgeous pink, brown & pumpkin combo and if you know me at all I’ll take pumpkin any way it comes!!

InsideCalendarNow not only did I get this gorgeous card but I also received and lovely calendar my stampin sister made for me for next year.

Each month is decorated in the same colours but using various stamps from Priceless, Eastern Blooms and Circle Circus and using the delish papers from the Sweet Always Designer Series paper pack.

I’ve just taken a photo of September (now what a good month that is!!) to give you and idea of how each month is decorated.

How sweet of my stampin’ sister to create this awesome calendar for me to use next year – talk about a forward thinker ;)

So Secret Stampin’ Sister if youre reading this .. thank you so much!! I love it!

share a little love

Well with just one week till Valentines I thought I’d make this little gift set to share with you – how make sure you send a link to this post to your spouse, partner, or boyfriend to remind them!

valentine set

This little set of goodies are very easy to make and could be made in a 2 hour class so contact me quickly if you’d like to make this set in time for Valentine’s Day – or if you would like to purchase a kit to make these then email me for details today!

valentine clip calendarI’ve used papers from the “Loves Me” Designer Series Paper pack – well there was nothing better for Valentine’s day! The set consists of a Coaster Gift Box, ‘Gluggie’ (Sour Cream Container) and a Clip stand Calender which I adapted from several I saw on Split Coast Stampers. You can find the tutorials for the gift box and sour cream container at Split Coast Stampers Projects page.

Supplies I used:

Stamp set: Lots of Thoughts (Sale-a-bration set), Wonderful Words
Paper: Loves Me Designer Series Paper, Chocolate Chip cardstock
Accessories: Coasters, On-board Chipboard, ribbon, silver cord, Pretty in Pink Brads, scissors, scalloped circle punch, 1 1/4″ circle punch, Crop-a-dile, sticky strip, Crystal Effects, Paper Piercing Mat, Anywhere Glue Stick, Large Paper Clip, paper trimmer, sanding block and pencil

valentine gluggie

Now remember I called the ‘sour cream container’ a ‘Gluggie‘??

Well I’ll tell you why …. when I went to school (now we are talking just a few years here … well maybe a couple more than that!) we had these frozen ice blocks in containers that exact shape and they were called Glugs (cola flavour), Razz (Raspberry flavour) and Sunny Boys (orange flavour). These were the things I bought the most from the canteen at school – well from what I can remember anyways – surely you remember these too?

Little does my hubby know that this is his Valentine gift … tho I might change the bear for some chocolates & coffee beans! I suppose I’ll find out now if he reads my posts or not!

Have a great day and dont forget to take some time out for YOU!!

Cute lil Calendars

How cute are these little calendars?? and they are sooooooo easy to make!

2008 Mini Calendars

Now if you would like one of these little treasures all you have to do is a place a customer [not from a workshop] order of $50.00 (before postage & handling) before 15th December.

Eggplant Mini 2008 CalendarWhen I send your order I will includ your very own calendar made in your favourite colours. I will even include the instructions to make your own!

Why by the 15th? well you will want it before Christmas right?? anything you want to have before Christmas to put under the tree will need to be ordered by the 15th so it gets to you in time.
