Sweet Butterflies

Wow I cant believe its been so long since I posted on my blog!

Needless to say things have been quite busy here!  With the Extra Hostess promotion happening I’ve had extra workshops so some have taken advantage of the bonus $70 in spending dollars just by holding a $450 workshop.

Now its not too late so if you’d like to have a party within the next 10 days or even hold a catalogue party then please contact me for details or to book in. If you decide to go down the Catalogue Party road then I will give you and your ‘guests’ free postage on your orders!

Here is a card that I made for a workshop with the lovely Michelle and her friends a couple of weeks ago  …

Framed Butterflies

I just love this card and so has everyone who has made it over the last few weeks. Its such a queasy card!

Here is the card side-on so you can see the dimension in the butterflies and I just love Elegant Eggplant and Cherry Cobbler together – and I mean love it!

Now one of the reasons for my absence can be summed up in one photo ….

Yup I finally got a new car and it smells sooo good and I love love love it!!

Doesnt the neighbour’s wattle look awesome!?!

My poor old Magna Wagon was really getting very old and starting to show signs of being an 18 year old car … and you could hear her moan so not a good sign.

So if you’d like to see my new Stampin Mobile then book me in for a workshop or party … there’s a great special coming for July so be sure to book your dates in as soon as possible!!

Strength & Hope

Good Evening!!

I know I’m coming to you a little late today however we’ve been out trying to find me a new workbench – a nice long one so I have plenty of room to make a mess create and store all my tools and such.  We have decided to go with the one we’d chosen from Ikea a little while ago but be sure you’ll see pictures once I’ve cleared the area and have the new table and its all set up and before I make a creative mess!

Now onto this week’s sketch for the Utah Divas Internation Sketch challenge # 130 …

As you know we had the new Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue start on 1st April and one of the ‘must have’ sets in the new mini is the Strength & Hope stamp set.  Now this is not just ‘another’ stamp set – this one is very special and worth the purchase whether you are a stamper or not!  You see its been designed for a very special purpose – and not just for Australia but for Stampin’ Up! worldwide!  This set was created to raise funds for Breast Cancer Research and while anyone raises funds for Breast Cancer Research this also creates awareness of just how this illness affects so many people and just why it is so very very important that us women check our breasts regularly. So for every set that is sold throughout the world Stampin’ Up! will donate $2 to that countries National Breast Cancer Research Foundation – dont you just love how Stampin’ Up! do whatever they can to help those in need whether its from Tsunami’s, Floods, Fires, Hurricanes or Breast Cancer! I dont know a company that gives back as much as Stampin’ Up! does.

Oh yeah … the sketch … the card … whoops!

Here is my card that I created using the Strength & Hope set and this week’s sketch …

I have to say I love how this turned out! I surprised myself and I even surprised myself more when created my own little corner frame from the flourish stamp and all by accident!  I wanted to stamp the image close to the edge so i could punch out the little pink heart and it turned out on an angle on the scrap piece of cardstock and when I saw it I immediately thought “oh what a cool corner frame”!  Sometimes the best ideas do actually come out of nowhere!

I also wanted a ‘special’ butterfly and the single layer one wasnt doing it for me so I thought some acetate wings would go nice and give it a ‘floating’ effect.  Here’s a close up …

This just shows the dimension of the butterfly not to mention those gorgeous pearls and a bit of the corner frame.

Now dont forget to stop by the other Sketchy Divas and leave some comment love – cos we allll love comments! The next blog on the list is the lovely Ruthie Burkey or you can visit via the Utah Divas International Blog.

Now for all Strength & Hope stamp sets I sell not only will Stampin’ Up! donate $2 to the National Breast Cancer Research Foundation but I too will dontate $2 to the National Breast Cancer Research foundation. So contact me today to place your order and help raise funds for Breast Cancer Research.

Vintage Wings

Its been a very very wet long weekend here – we’ve had lots of rain so its kept us inside but that’s OK cos I got new cupboards to put in so we’ve been reshuffling the house all weekend. I am glad to report that we are nearly back to normal and we’ve recycled what we can, donated a couple of items to friends and thrown out a lot of rubbish!

The cupboards look great and so happy with them – just have to wait for two more doors to attach as they didnt come in the delivery.

Last Friday I did a workshop for a lovely friend and she asked if the make n take could be something using the embossing folders and butterfly dies. So what’s a girl to do??  then the perfect card popped onto my head – and it wasnt even painful!

Here is what we made ….

Birthday Whimsy

Today is my sweet baby girl’s 11th birthday!  Hard to believe it was 11 years ago that Miss Emily came into the world – and in a hurry too I might add!! Just over 2 hours labour – eeeeek!  It all seems like yesterday – well ok maybe not yesterday but not that long ago!

Emily has always loved the Garden Whimsy stamp set so I went straight for that set to create her card.

fluttergrass-emily11

When I had the thought of those butterflies I thought them flying through the grass would be a nice effect and I thought what better stamp for grass than the one from Inspired by Nature.  I added a bit of sponging for the grass and added some sponged clouds using the scallop circle punch.

As I had a Stamp A Stack here yesterday I gave hubby the task of doing birthday shopping – brave I know!  He did quite well and just goes to prove he can buy birthday presents after all!

It was then my task last night to create the gift bag to fit the presents in.  I found a tutorial by the lovely Makeesha and just did some tweaking with the measurements to fit the presents in. So two sheets of Sweet Always Designer Series Paper and some ribbon later and we have a bag for the presents!

giftbagcardemily

I just stamped some more butterflies, cut them out and popped them on and whallah :)

I hope she has a wonderful day today as she’s going to bed early tonight after one of her friends slept over last night … well not sure they actually slept so maybe we should call it a giggle-over!!

Butterfly Collage

As you are aware I run an online group for all Australian and New Zealand Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators called ESAD (Extra Special Australian Demonstrators). We regularly run swaps for the members as these are great ways to get new or different ideas to your own.

This month we have a swap for a Technique Book which I’m a part of.  All the participants had to choose a technique different to the other participants and make up an instruction and sample page for each participant. So I had to make 12 instructions & samples for this swap and the technique I chose was Collage Stamping.

I love doing Collage Stamping as you can make it your own and create lovely effects and it gives the look of your very own designer series paper.  Now while I was making my samples the other day one of my daughter’s friends was staying over and she asked why I was putting butterflies on the patterned paper – I then explained what I was doing and that I’d stamped all the images on the cardstock myself.  She then exclaimed “Wow how cool!!”  Now this does boost one’s self esteem to no end!

Here is the sample I made for the swap ….

After deliberating for what seemed like days on what set and style to make I decided on this gorgeous “All a Flutter” stamp as the main focus and then popped in some flower stems, leaves and script.

I really do love the final sample and I do love that butterfly!

I’ve coloured my piece using the Stampin Pastels. I love the soft muted tones you can get with the Pastels and they also blend so well!  Now to ensure that the Pastels dont keep rubbing off I’ve given them a light spray with my hairspray.  This just helps to set and protect your artwork from rubbing off.  You dont need an expensive fixative – just the  cheapest hairspray does the trick.

Now as part of the swap we also had to make one card or project using our technique so I thought I’d use my sample and do one of the challenges from the Cards and Things Challenges Blog run by the lovely Krista Driessen.

Here’s my card …

collagecard-ctsc40

I love how this turned out and I’ve added another butterfly over the top of one to give it more dimension and make it that extra little bit special.

Recipe:
Stamps: All a Flutter, Organic Grace, En Francais
Paper: Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie, Blush Blossom
Inks: Chocolate Chip, Soft Suede, Mellow Moss, Versamark
Accessories: Big Shot, Scallop Circle Die, Circle Scissor Plus, Stampin’ Pastels, Sponge Daubers, Crimper

Here’s a close up of the layered butterfly …

Starting September I will be starting new Technique Classes so if you’d like to book your spot please email me today.

a la carte stamps

You may have noticed over the past few mini catalogues the introduction of ‘a la carte’ stamps.  These are single stamped that are priced economically for you so you canstart stamping quickly and at a price that suites everyone.

In our Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue we have four of these a la carte stamps of which one is the gorgeous All a Flutter stamp.  I’ve had this stamp for some time and managed to make a card this past week that I’d seen a month or so ago and just loved so much I bookmarked it to case.

How nice and rich is this card? The card was originally designed by the lovely Ilina Crouse. I have added just an extra couple of layers to make the main panel pop.

It reminds me of those framed butterflies you can buy which reminds me of a story from my childhood which I might share at a later date – I wonder if my two sister’s remember.

Recipe:

Stamps
• All a Flutter
• En Francais
Cardstock
• Basic Black
• Pumpkin Pie
• Rich Razzleberry
• Very Vanilla
• Watercolour Paper
Ink
• Basic Gray
• Jet Black Stazon
• Soft Suede
• Rich Razzleberry
Accessories
• Sponge Daubers
• Aqua Painter
• Stampin Dimensionals

I love this card and I love this butterfly!

Pretty Pansies

Good Morning … its another fresh morning here and definitely a sign that winter is on its way!

I have wanted to make this card for a while but just hadnt had the time so I made some time last week and am very happy with how it turned out.

How cool are these pansies??

Recipe:
Stamps: Heard from the Heart
Paper: Pale Plum, Old Olive, Elegant Eggplant
Inks: Elegant Eggplant classic ink pad, Elegant Eggplant ReInker, Pumpkin Pie ReInker
Accessories:  Water Spritzer, Silver Brads, Aqua Painter

This is such a neat way on how to use your Butterfly Punch and I followed the tutorial on Mary Jo Price-Williams blog.  They use the ‘floating reinker’ technique are very easy to make and the card is a quick and simple card but you do need to leave the ‘pansies’ to dry which can take a while but I do think the results are totally worth it!

If you would like to learn how to make these Pansies I would love to show you how so ring or email me today to book in your workshop or demonstration.

Funky Flutters

Good Morning all!

Its another busy day for me but that’s OK because I love what I do! Being a Stampin Up Demonstrator I get to go to people’s houses and share with them my love of card making, stamping and papercraft – and I earn money when I do this so to me there is no better job – well except for being a mum!

How many of us have a job we are passionate about and just love doing? If you are a stamper or crafter and would like more information about becoming a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator then please do not hesitate to contact me – even if it is just to get your stamping products and accessories at a discount.

Its Saturday again (where does the week go?) and therefore that means another Utah Divas International Sketch

Another sketch from the hands of the lovely Carol and again a sketch that has so many opportunities.

Now I have a demonstration this afternoon and the hostess has asked for cards that are girly and funky so I hope she feels this card fits the funky bill.

So here’s my card … what do you think? is it funky?

My 10yo told me its definitely funky as she helped me design the card. I have left the bottom strip off as Miss 10 said that if I put ribbon on the card there it would not be funky any more so what’s a mum to do??

Recipe

Stamps: Flight of the Butterfly
Inks: Orchid Opulence, Rich Razzleberry
Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Whisper White, Orchid Opulence, Cottage Wall DSP
Accessories: Stampamajig, Butterfly Punch, Stampin Dimensionals.

I just love the Cottage Wall Designer Series Papers – they are so fresh and lovely … and maybe funky?? I am also glad we will have them for 5 months instead of the regular 3 months a mini catalogue runs for.

I’ve used the Flight of the Butterfly Stamp set with this card as my hostess wanted to see the butterfly punch in action. Now I did make another card using the butterfly punch but you’ll have to wait till tomorrow for that one!

Again you can see all the lovely creations the ladies have made following the links at the Utah Divas International Blog and if you skip along to the lovely Tiffany’s  blog you can see what she’s made and then just keep following the rest of the links to see them individually.

I do hope the ladies like this card this afternoon .. now I’d best be off and finish packing my trolley.

Great Friend Purse

This past weekend we’ve had a Cyber Stamp for our ESAD (Extra Special Australian Demonstrators) group and I have totally loved the whole weekend with sketch and colour challenges, chats, bingo and more chats!

Its been great to get to know some of the other demonstrators better and share our love for Stampin Up!, stamping, card making and dedication to keeping Cadbury in business! Not to mention how glare from a tidy desk can create headaches!

Today was my turn to present a 3d challenge and I chose this great little gift set for the girls to make.
I first saw this project last week on Becky Roberts’ blog and knew I had to just make one and they didn’t look ‘too’ hard to make.

sackbagwcard

This project is quite easy to make and it makes an awesome gift set!

The bag is made from a paper sack – similar to those you’d get take away McDonalds or Hungry Jacks in so next time you’re there for the kids ask for a couple of their small sacks.

sackbagIts just a matter of making panels for the outside and attaching them to the sack and I’ve used a velcro dot to secure the flap behind the Butterfly and stamped frame.

This bag measures 13cm square or 5″ square.

Recipe:

Stamps: Great Friend
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Kraft, Whisper White, Parisian Breeze Specialty Designer Series Paper
Inks: Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Crop-a-dile, corduroy buttons, baja breeze stripe grosgrain ribbon, velcro dots, sticky strip, stampin dimensionals

You could make this as a gift set and include 4 or 5 small cards – the card below I’ve made is a 10cm square card (or 4×4)

sackcardRecipe:

Stamps: Great Friend
Paper: Baja Breeze, Whisper White, Kraft, Parisian Breeze Specialty Designer Series Paper
Inks: Baja Breeze, Mellow moss
Accessories: Eyelet Border Punch, Kraft Taffeta ribbon, stampin dimensionals

I really loved making this project and do hope the girls enjoy making it and I know it will make an awesome class as well.

Wouldnt you love to give a gift like this to a friend or family member? Why not ring and arrange your class today!

Have a great Sunday and I do believe its time for another coffee!

Diva Sketch Challenge #22

Well something has happened to my calendar as someone fast forwarded me from Friday straight to Sunday!

I cant believe how fast the week’s are going by – next week we will have the launch of our new 2009-201o Idea Book & Catalogue and then just weeks after that we have the Australian Stampin’ Up!® convention and I’m so excited to be going again this year.

I do apologise for my lateness in posting the card for this week’s Diva Sketch Challenge and hope the other Diva’s forgive me too!

I have had a very busy week and feel like i havent stopped in the last 2 or 3 weeks but I do love what I do so wont be changing that at all! Just need to find out how to be more organised – if it is even possible!

I’ve taken this sketch and turned it and here is the card I came up with.

Diva Sketch Challenge

Diva Sketch Challenge

I’ve used the Garden Whimsy stamp set. When we first got this set in our current catalogue I couldnt wait to order it as I saw so many nice things done with it and I just love tulips and butterflies so how could you go wrong?

I have so struggled to create with it and so when i saw this sketch I immediately thought of this stamp set and I’m challenging myself to make some more cards with this set as it is one that will be in the new 2009-201o Idea Book & Catalogue

Would you like to earn a free 2009-201o Idea Book & Catalogue? all you need to do is to hold a demonstration so I can come and show you and your friends the gorgeous new book and stamps – we even get to make something on the day so everyone gets to take something home with them. There is no need for a large gathering – and you dont need to spend all of the day (and night) beforehand cooking – just a cuppa and a biscuit will do as your guests will want to get back to the stamps and fun!

So what are you waiting for? contact me today to book your demonstration in.
