Come in Spinner!

I recently joined a Crafters Community called Crafters Anonymous – a rather fitting name for some of us dont you think??

Now they run classes online there each week and the first class I did was last week Monday.  They give you a list of the things you’ll need including cardstock/papers and the sizes they need to be. You dont know what youre making until class – well you didnt with this one.

I must say it was rather fun making my first ‘blind’ card at an online class and it turned out to be a spinner card – I’ve seen these for years but never really got around to making one before.

Here is my card ….

When I selected the colours for the card I decided to find a piece of scrap designer series paper the right size I needed and then choose the coordinating cardstock & inks from that and a stamp set to match. I did have to play around a bit with the punched out circle as the balloon I chose for the spinner isnt round – rude I know!

Have you noticed??  yessssss boy colours!!  Wonders never cease!

I thought it was about time I pulled out the Party This Way set as it was what we received at Convention last year and with only 10 days till Convention in Melbourne I thought it really needed another inking!

I do hope you like this card – it was alot of fun to make!

Oh dear … only 10 days till 2011 Stampin’ Up! Convention in Melbourne – I think I’d better get cracking on those swaps!

Scrappy Workshop & win with Lara

Sorry for not posting in the last few days – its been busy here and so much has happened in the last week I am still trying to catch up!

A couple of lovely customers asked if I would do them a Scrapbook Workshop to which I just about fell off my chair but did agree to do one. They then  said they wanted a layout for a 10 year old boy!  Well I nearly fell off my chair – as you know I dont much Scrapbooking at all but I dont have boys so this was a little harder than normal for me.

I had a look through the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalogue and decided to go with the Celebrations DSP – it has lovely bright colours and lovely patterns. So once I’d decided on what paper I was using then I knew the colour combination I was using – Bashful Blue, Real Red, Old Olive and Pacific Point. Now I’m not really a ‘brights’ girl but these colours look so good together!

Dont you just love how Stampin’ Up! give all the colour swatches for each set of Designer Series Paper packs? makes our lives so much easier!

Now that I had the colours and papers worked out I had to think of a design – this is where sketches are so very handy!  I love to use sketches for cards and sketches make layouts come together so quickly rather than deliberating on what shape and what size and where! I love sketches by Valerie Salmon who owns the Got Sketch Blog so I went with one of her sketches. Not only does Valerie do the sketch but she shows samples using that sketch too.

This is the sketch I chose ….

Got Sketch #91

Here is the layout I came up with …..

I do hope you like what I’ve done as the ladies on Tuesday did and this made my heart smile.

Now if you’d like to book in a Scrapbooking Workshop then please dont hesitate to ring or email me to book in your date. I will even let you pick the theme!

Just a little reminder  ……

Dont forget about the “We Stamp for Lara” online extravaganza!

During all of November you will recieve tutorials for 30 different projects for just $25 and all proceeds go to the purchase of special equipment for Little Miss Lara May Dunn.  Lara has Cerebral Palsy as well as a few other conditions and would greatly benefit from a special chair to help her get around and be more involved not only with her family but also with others.

Join today and have the opportunity to win prizes – one of which is a brand new Big Shot Machine!

As a special thank you from me – if you join and leave a comment here then you will go in the running to win a lovely Flower Fusion kit full of gorgeous felt flowers in pink, blue and brown! This is valued at $29.95 and is no longer available to purchase so you’ll be winning a collectors item!

This is just from me so you’ll have to reply back here – I’ll announce the winner on Tuesday. You can join by clicking on the paypal button in my sidebar to the right.

Looking forward to sharing some fun creating times with you and helping Lara as well.

Seeing Spots …. or is that Circles?

Good morning everyone – I do hope you are well and not getting washed away with all this rain we are having in Sydney. We do need it and it is falling in the catchment areas so that’s a good thing as it means its going into our dams where we need it.

Thursday I shared with you two scrapbook layouts I made using the Circle Scissor Plus and at our SaleABration Spectacular I demonstrated using the Circle Scissor Plus and the different ways you can use it.

SweetCircles Today I want to share with you two cards I used as samples on the day.

This first card was done using the Sweet Always Designer Series Papers, coordinating cardstock and the A Kind Word and Always Stamp sets.

I showed the ladies just how easy it is to do frames with the Circle Scissor Plus without moving it. I’ve also thrown in a couple of our circle punches to show how well Stampin’ Up! products go together.

WindsorBoyBirthdayNot to let the boys out I even made a card for them!

This card uses the Windsor Knot Designer Series Papers, coordinating cardstock, and the All in the Family, On Your Birthday and the Calendar Alphabet & Numbers stamp sets.

I have layered the circles again for the main image and with the All in the Family stamp set its imperative you use the Stamp-a-ma-jig so all your images line up well.

I did try to not use it and my little girl (which is not shown here) ended up with fangs from the top of her dress! Not a good look for a little girls card – unless of course you’re doing a Twilight theme!!!

I am running classes this first term called “Tool Time” where I will highlight a tool and show you different ways of using your Stampin’ Up! tools. So many times we see them demonstrated and just ‘have’ to have it and then it get put on the shelf or in the cupboard to gather dust.

The first class will be on the Circle Scissor Plus and you will get to know this tool and make three projects using the Circle Scissor Plus.

Tool Time – Circle Scissor Plus

Date ~ 26th February, 2010
Time ~ 10.30am
Cost ~ $20.00
bookings essential

Party Sketch

Well here we are at another Saturday – at least today I’m relaxing after last weekend’s Saleabration Spectacular! Now being Saturday its time for another Divas Sketch Challenge! dsc70

Here is this week’s sketch ….

Carol was very nice to let me have last weekend off now wasnt she?? but I’m back into the sketches again and not to let the side down I’ve changed it a little – but what more could you expect from me??

I really struggled with the “least favourite colours” though … I just couldn’t work out what to do as I just love Stampin’ Up!’s colours so I went with some that I don’t use as often and hopefully that will be ok (at least I noticed the ‘extra’ in this week’s challenge this time!)

DSC70

Here’s my card ….

Now not only did I use colours I don’t use often I also used a stamp set that hasn’t seen much ink!

Recipe:

Stamps: Party Hearty
Paper: Pacific Point, Gable Green, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White
Inks: Tangerine Tango, Pacific Point, Gable Green, Versamark
Accessories: Scallop Border Punch, Pacific Point Striped grosgrain ribbon.

I do hope you like my card and please be sure to check out the other creations by the Utah Divas International Sketch Challenge Team.

Diva Sketch Challenge 36

Here we are with another Sketch Challenge for Utah Divas International group.

Utah Divas International is a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator only group and is full of talented and helpful demonstrators and open to all demonstrators worldwide. Since being a part of Utah Divas International I have met many wonderful ladies and have become good friends with some of them.

They are always there with helpful advice on techniques, ideas and the occassional prayer when any of the members need it. Its a great group to be a part of so if youre a demonstrator and think you’d like to be a part of Utah Divas then please drop me a line or join through the blog by clicking on the Utah Divas badge in my sidebar.

Now onto my card for the challenge.

Blast-DSC36This must be one of the quickest cards I’ve ever made from start to finish! Although I’ve been wanting to use my Pun Fun set for ages but always seemed to be busy with other projects I decided today this is the day to ‘have a blast’!

I have been asked a few times lately for cards for young boys. Now you may not realise that both my children are girls so doing the ‘boy’ thing doesnt come as freely to me as the ‘girl’ thing.  So I’ve gone with bright bold colours here with the red, blue and yellow and think this fits into the boy theme rather well – hope you do too!

Here’s what I used ….

Stamps: Pun Fun, Classic Stars Jumbo Wheel
Paper: Good Morning Sunshine DSP, Real Red, Ballet Blue, Summer Sun, Watercolour Paper
Inks: Stazon Jet Black, Ballet Blue Classic Ink Pad
Accessories: Watercolour Crayons, Aqua Painter, Stampin Dimensionals

I do hope you like today’s card and go visit the Utah Divas International blog to see what the other girls have done with this sketch.

Now I’d better be off and make up the kits for tomorrow’s class!
