Soft Roses

Its a chilly Saturday here in Sydney and I’ve had a nice morning of shopping with the hubby and even managed to get me more things than the rest of the family – which doesnt happen very often.

I even got some new coffee cups I’ve been after for a while so a good morning in all.

As its Saturday its time for another Utah Divas Sketch Challenge from the lovely Carol.

Now when I first saw this one I thought ‘hmmm ok’  but then it dawned on me what I could do and what sort of a challenge would it be if I didnt change it any?

So me being me gave it a good old rotation and this is what I came up with ….

I really do love this Rose is a Rose set and will be sorry to see it retire in 2 months however if you dont have this set and would like to get it before it goes then you can and if you buy it before 31st July then you can get it at 20% off!  Pretty good deal huh?

Now I did hear from the lovely Max today and she said she cant participate in this week’s sketch – something to do with her mother visiting from England and leaving on Monday and wanting to spend every waking minute with her.  Max I hope you have a wonderful few days and Mum has a lovely trip back home. So this week the next stop on the Utah Diva Sketch Hop is the lovely Ruthie Burkey.

So skip on over toRuthie‘s blog and see what she’s created for this sketch.

Diva Sketch Challenge 53

Diva Sketch Challenge 53

Its that time of the week again – Saturday – so another Utah Divas Sketch Challenge!

I love this sketch!

To start with this card I first chose the stamp set I wanted to use which was Dreams du Jour as I’ve had it for some time and havent used it much at all. Then I decided on which pack of Designer Series Paper I wanted to use and went with Bella Rose DSP as I wanted to make a feminine card.

I find if I’m using DSP on a card then if I use the colours that is in that pack and the card comes together quite well. However in saying this I did change the colours about 4 times before getting a combination I was happy with!

Here’s my card …

DSC53I am rather happy with the final card and the taffeta ribbon is a must.

I did make a similar card to this one the other day and will share that during the week so when I saw this sketch I knew exactly what I wanted to do!

I do love this little Dreams du Jour set but have struggled with what to do with it and think this has shown that you dont need a huge stamp set to create a nice card – you can do that with just one stamp!

The dreams image has dimensionals behind it and I’ve layered the flower at the top for more dimension.

DSC53flowerNow for the centre of the layered flower I have used a spacer bead – but I’ve put it on its side. I first put a dot of Crystal Effects on the centre of the flower and then dropped the bead in on its side so it looks like a tiny silver ball in the centre of the flower.

Hopefully you can see what I mean in the picture – mind you its hard to get a good ‘up close’ picture of something so small without having the “top of the line Canon Camera”!

Just before I go I wanted to let you know that I now have a lovely Stampin Up!® Demonstrator Business Website. It has all things ‘businessy’ there and you can view projects there from both myself and Stampin Up! You can also view my Calendar to see what events and classes I have coming up and also sign up online to be a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator and part of my team.

Its all pretty cool and its purple too!! If you would like to have a look you can find it at www.leonieschroder.stampinup.net and I’ll be popping a link in my sidebar soon too. So go have a look and let me know what you think ;)

Anniversary blessings

Last Sunday was the 40th Wedding Anniversary for my aunt and uncle – they had the cutest little flower girl and obviously the reason for their long lasting marriage! Well it sounds good in theory doesn’t it??

I do want to share with you a funny story though – one that sort of relates to the anniversary and the blessings of being a demonstrator.

It starts last Wednesday when I got a call from another demonstrator asking if I could do a demonstration on Saturday over St Marys way. Now I was going to say no but when they said they wanted a demo at 12.30pm as they had a friend visiting from Queensland and they all wanted to make cards I agreed – so I took the ladies details and gave her a call.

Nancy and I had a little chat and I found out that they’d been booked in with another party plan but that consultant had cancelled on them so I took the opportunity and booked in the class. I also mentioned that it worked out well as I had to attend my Aunt’s anniversary do that night in Toongabbie so it worked out well as I could go back to my sister’s at St Claire before going to the anniversary party.

I arrived at Nancy’s just before midday on Saturday and she came out to greet me. She was so excited – she then said “Leonie I have to ask – this party you’re going to tonite – its at Toongabbie right?” to which I confirmed it was. During this time Nancy’s hubby had joined us and then she asked “It’s not for Col & Trish is it?” now at this point I just about fell over and said “well yes it is – Trish is my aunt and I was their flower girl” It turns out Nancy’s husband works with my uncle and they were going too! Now do you have goose bumps??

There were lots of factors in this workshop that got us together and I can only explain it as a ‘God’ thing.

Now onto the card …

PinkShutterRose-Front

This is the card I made for my aunt and uncle for their 40th Anniversary – can you imagine being married so long?

Its a revamp of my Tri-Shutter Rose card I did back in May but in pinks and red to coordinate with the lovely Bella Rose papers. Although this time I’ve changed the little accent I made from punches to using the Build A Brad with the little red flower on the Bella Rose papers – and how cool is it?

PinkShutterRose-BAB

Its great to be able to make little brads that match the papers or stamps your using and you get 24 brads & bubbles for just $18.95 – so that’s less than 80 cents each – pretty sweet.

If you’d like to see how to use these Build A Brads and how they go together I am more than happy to show you at your next demonstration or class. They are so so easy and so so sweet!

Birthday Roses

Good Morning all … its another chilly morning here in Sydney and the last day of school term so the girls finish up today for 2 weeks – that means sleeping in and lazy days – love school holidays!

Today is the birthday of my good friend and downline Jossleen so Happy Birthday Joss!

JossBdayThis is the card I made for Jossleen and will be going out to all my July Birthday Club members as well.

I got the inspiration for this card from the 2009-2010 Idea Book & Catalogue – from the framed sample on page 8 for the Sweet Bella Style Swatch. I was looking at it and realised that i dont have the little sprig of flowers in the frame so had to consult the recipe for the project.

You might remember last year (and previous years) the recipes for all the samples in the Idea Book & Catalogue were in the back of the Idea Book & Catalogue. This year they decided not to include them in the Catalogue but they are available for download from the Stampin’ Up! website.

Here are the links to download the supplies/recipes list

So I then realised that the flowers in that frame were from one of the sheets of Designer Series Paper in the Bella Rose pack. So then I went to cutting! I do love to cut images out and find it rather therapeutic so after making this card for Joss I decided I’d make it for all the July birthdays of my Birthday Club Members. So last night I sat down and cut away to my hearts content while watching TV.

JossBdaycloseupAs you can see the the second image I ‘paper toled’ the rose in the middle to give it a little extra dimension.

I really do like how this card turned out and Joss loved it too. Using the paper meant the flowers on the card were smaller than the stamps and it also shows you just how very versatile and all the Stampin’ Up!® products coordinate with each other.

You also dont need a heap of stamp sets to make a pretty card – although it does help! Helps you and me!

Have you joined my Birthday Club?

I run a Birthday Club for my customers where once they have signed up I send them a Birthday Card which includes a special offer for them to use with their next purchase. It is free to join and you can sign up here

Have a great day and dont forget to take time to put your feet up and enjoy a Latte!
