Friendly Cup

If you are a regular visitor to my blog you will know I enjoy the ‘occasional’ cup of coffee …… well ok maybe a little more than the occasional cup :)

In my last post I shared I had the lovely Tanya come and visit for a few days (on her way home from Perth – yup long way home!) well she brought with her some of her Big Shot dies and cutting pads for us to play with. Yes its true – I dont have everything in the Catalogues!!  One of the dies she bought and gave it to me as a gift was the Movers and Shapers die!! How stoked was I?? She laughed at me cos the first few times I picked it up I just cuddled it lol.

Now I’ve been wanting this one off for a while now and now I have one of my very own … again thanks heaps Tanya.  So while she was here I had to use it did I not??

I first ran some Melon Mambo cardstock and some Cottage Garden DSP through the Big Shot with the die and thought immediately of the lovely little ‘Share a Cup’ a la carte stamp and thought of just putting one on the corner but then thought a few cups would look good.

What do you think?

Now while I was making this card I thought about how some hang their cups on hooks and thought it would look cool with them just under the ribbon.

So thats how this second card came into being.

These are both very simple and easy cards to make and you might notice the stamped image inside the curly label window? Its a new set called Perfect Punches which will be available in the new 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalogue. This is actually a set that Shelli Gardner (Stampin Up! Founder and CEO) gave to all the demonstrators at the end of Convention in May.  So it really does pay to be a demonstrator and attend convention :)

Did I mention I got my copy yesterday and its just sooo gaw-juss!  Dont forget to email me and reserve your copy!

Happy New Financial Year diary

With my business I like to have a Financial year diary each year so its easier to file with my Taxation records. Now being a crafter I like my ‘tools’  to be nice and bright and cheery.

If you have ever looked for a Financial Year diary have you ever noticed just how drab and boring they are? Well I suppose there is such a big choice – you can have black, black or umm black!

I always go to Big W and look there first as they are just so affordable and looking at the ones they had last week we worked out (yes I was shopping with hubby) that we could remove the insert and I could then undo the binding, make a new cover and then re-do the binding.

Once I pulled the diary out it I wondered if our spiral punch would fit the binding.

Lo and behold it did!!

So now instead of having to undo the binding, make a new cover and then redoing the binding all I have done is cut a piece of Designer Series Paper the size of the pages in the diary and use the spiral punch down one side.

To give it a little more protection I added a sheet of Acetate over the piece of Designer Series Paper again by cutting it to the size of the pages of the diary and using the Spiral punch and slotting it into the binding.

Now since uploading this post I’ve found out about the latest Challenge over at Just Add Ink. Just Add Ink is a blog run by a couple of fellow Aussie demonstrators with a new challenge each week and this week’s challenge is to ‘Just Add Patterned Paper’ and think my diary fits the challenge.

Now when I need a change or the Designer Series paper becomes a little tatty or retired I can just slot in a new piece of DSP and its just like having a new diary!

Diva Sketch Challenge 88Its Saturday so its time for another Utah Diva’s Sketch Challenge from the lovely Carol.

Today’s is a little different as I’ve combined another challenge in the same card – a colour challenge from Inkspirations4U!

So I thought the title for today’s post is fitting as not only am I sharing two challenges in one card but I’m also using the very cute ‘Share A Cup’ a la carte stamp from the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue.

Here’s the colour challenge from Inkspirations4U

My card was inspired by some gorgeous little cards that the lovely Bonnie Thurber (the Stamp Whisperer herself!) demonstrated.

Here is my card ….

Share a Cup (and a sketch)I wasnt sure about the colours at first but then when I put them together I really like them!  I think they’d be great for boy birthdays too :)

I love this little stamp – it was so nice of Stampin Up! to make a stamp just for me dont you think? and then to make an actual mug with the image on it just so I could get one at the Manager’s Reception before Convention this year. So very thoughtful!

I hope you like this card as I did enjoy making it – well after I got those cups to sit right!

One definitely needs the Stamp-a-majig and a post it note for this card!

Now its time for you to skip along to the next Diva in the Saturday Sketch Design Team being the very lovely Maxine Conrad and see what she’s done with Carol’s sketch.

Have a great ‘rest’ of the Weekend!

Autumn Days

I hope you’ve been enjoying the bits from Convention I’ve been posting. Today I’m taking a break as its another Sketchy Saturday – Utah Divas Sketchy Saturday that is :)

This is this weeks sketch …

Now I thought to myself that I hadnt really changed anything on Carol’s lovely sketches for a while so it was time to alter it in some way so I rotated it.  Sorry Carol couldnt help myself once I realised!!

I have to say I loved making this card!  As soon as I saw my lovely friend Lisa making her Convention swap card I knew I had to make one with a grassy theme.  I knew what I wanted to do once I saw the sketch and rotated it – I just had to find a saying to go with it. So after searching the Idea Book & Catalogue I found one that I think fits.

Here is my card ….

I’ve used the wonderful Autumn Days stamp set. Now when I first saw this set I thought  “oooooo I like that” but then thinking about it wondered if I’d use it much but I’m happy to say that yes I do use it a bit. Its an awesome set for those man type cards and also ones for doing landscape stamping too. The Pheasant that comes with it is rather nice too!

The sentiment I used is from the Dreams du Jour stamp set – another I wondered if I’d use much which I have!

The patterned paper comes from the Autumn Traditions Designer Series Paper pack.

This is a very simple card to make and I’d really love to show you just how easy it is so ring me or email me to book your demonstration in! June and July are already filling up so you’ll need to be quick! Or why not sign up and become part of my Stamp A Latte Team and I’ll help you with your launch demonstration and you get to keep the sales and the bookings!

Now its time to skip along to the very lovely Max’s blog to see what she’s made. You can also check out all those on the Sketch Design Team over at the Utah Divas International Blog.

Convention Swaps

One of the joys and highlights of Convention is swapping.  Its amazing to watch – and the chatter … wow! There’s nothing quite like making a swap and then realising that you’ve been talking to this person online for the last 12 months or so!

Here are the cards I made for my Convention Swaps …

This is one of my favourite cards and its been a hit with my customers too!

I actually made this card for my ESAD-SU Secret Sister back in March so havent been able to show it until now and the tulips are made using the very lovely Extra Large 2-step Bird punch available in the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue.

Recipe
Stamps: Cottage Garden
Paper: Cottage Wall DSP, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White, Old Olive, Lavender Lace, Pretty in Pink, Apricot Appeal
Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Perfect Plum, Lavender Lace, Pretty in Pink, Apricot Appeal
Accessories: Big Shot, Top Note die, Little Leaves sizzlits die, Polka Dot Impressions folder, Scalloped Oval Punch, Extra Large 2-step bird punch

This is my second card and its done using Pocket Silhouettes stamp set. This has to be one of the best value stamp sets and can literally be used for anything!

Recipe
Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes
Paper: Not Quite Navy, More Mustard, Whisper White
Inks: Sahara Sand, Tangerine Tango, Not Quite Navy, Old Olive
Accessories: Stampin Write Markers, Always Artichoke Grosgrain Ribbon

I’ve used the masking & sponging techniques on this card. I cut a rectangle out of a scrap piece of paper to create the ‘window’ then sponged it in Sahara Sand. I then stamped the leafy image in the same Sahara sand ink. It gives a dimensional look dont you think?

Here is my last swap card ….

Dont you just love the Tote-ally Tess set ??  For this card I’ve renamed it Totally Onie as it has all of my favourites on this card – Rich Razzleberry cardstock & ribbon, Cottage Wall DSP, Stamps and of course – coffee!

Recipe
Stamps: Tote-ally
Onie Tess , Sip by Sip
Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Cottage Wall DSP, Whisper White
Inks: Rich Razzleberry, Jet Black Stazon, Orchid Opulence, Chocolate chip reinker, Going Gray
Accessories: Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Grosgrain ribbon, Aqua Painter, Stamp-a-majig, Stampin Dimensionals

I’ve used the Paper Piecing technique for the Tote and used my Ink pads to watercolour with the aqua painter. I must say Tess was rather popular with the swappers.

Now here is a picture of all the swaps I received …

Now I did come home with some swaps of mine so if you would like one of my swaps then send me an email with your address and I’ll pop one in the post to you.

Vintage Sketch

Welcome to another Diva Sketchy Saturday!

I know its later in the day but it IS still Saturday!  Here is this week’s sketch from the lovely Carol for the Utah Divas International Sketch Challenge.  Easy enough right??

Well I was half way through my card when I thought that if I rotated the sketch it would make a great landscape card – and then I looked at the sketch again and yes its meant to be a landscape card!

Here is the card I made …

The cocoa on the blue was actually inspired by one of the coffee cups I have and think it turned out well.

I love this litte floral design stamp from Vintage Vogue – its so versatile and makes awesome background paper.

The Happy Birthday sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Messages and fits perfectly in the small oval punch or even the word window. I’ve added a small flower from the Trio Flower Punch for that extra little bit.

Now when I was making this one I thought that a flower in the place of the ‘friend’ layer would look nice so I made another.

Now with the second card I changed the ink to Creamy Caramel to stamp onto the blue and sponging around the edges.

The Happy Mothers Day Sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Messages.

I have been busy this past week making swaps for Convention and doing all those behind the scenes things for convention – making sure I have decent clothes and shoes to wear and all the other bits and pieces.  As a Convention Special I am offering free postage on all mail or telephone orders between now and 31st May. So if there is something you wish to order now is the time and the more you purchase the more you save!

Now its time to send you skipping off to the next Sketchy Diva being the lovely Ruthie!

Funky Flutters

Good Morning all!

Its another busy day for me but that’s OK because I love what I do! Being a Stampin Up Demonstrator I get to go to people’s houses and share with them my love of card making, stamping and papercraft – and I earn money when I do this so to me there is no better job – well except for being a mum!

How many of us have a job we are passionate about and just love doing? If you are a stamper or crafter and would like more information about becoming a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator then please do not hesitate to contact me – even if it is just to get your stamping products and accessories at a discount.

Its Saturday again (where does the week go?) and therefore that means another Utah Divas International Sketch

Another sketch from the hands of the lovely Carol and again a sketch that has so many opportunities.

Now I have a demonstration this afternoon and the hostess has asked for cards that are girly and funky so I hope she feels this card fits the funky bill.

So here’s my card … what do you think? is it funky?

My 10yo told me its definitely funky as she helped me design the card. I have left the bottom strip off as Miss 10 said that if I put ribbon on the card there it would not be funky any more so what’s a mum to do??

Recipe

Stamps: Flight of the Butterfly
Inks: Orchid Opulence, Rich Razzleberry
Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Whisper White, Orchid Opulence, Cottage Wall DSP
Accessories: Stampamajig, Butterfly Punch, Stampin Dimensionals.

I just love the Cottage Wall Designer Series Papers – they are so fresh and lovely … and maybe funky?? I am also glad we will have them for 5 months instead of the regular 3 months a mini catalogue runs for.

I’ve used the Flight of the Butterfly Stamp set with this card as my hostess wanted to see the butterfly punch in action. Now I did make another card using the butterfly punch but you’ll have to wait till tomorrow for that one!

Again you can see all the lovely creations the ladies have made following the links at the Utah Divas International Blog and if you skip along to the lovely Tiffany’s  blog you can see what she’s made and then just keep following the rest of the links to see them individually.

I do hope the ladies like this card this afternoon .. now I’d best be off and finish packing my trolley.

Crimped Vintage

I’ve had a very busy couple of days with two demonstrations in two days and now my body is telling me to slow down now or else!

I thoroughly enjoyed these two demonstrations and was glad that I could use the same make n takes for both and here is what the girls made ….

I am sorry about the darkness of the background of the photo but if i lightened it the projects became rather ‘bright’.  I love making and giving these Crimped Envelope cards! They are so easy and just that little extra special to give.

You might recognise the little pillow box.

My pillow box was inspired by the lovely one I received from my Secret Sister the other week.  I’ve just added ribbon and a little tag.  These flowers are super easy to make too!  The ladies loved making these and were surprised at just how easy they were. They also loved the Tiny Tags stamp set and how well it matched the new Medium Jewelery Tag punch.

Here is the Crimped Envelope Card.

How special is this? would make an awesome Mother’s Day card dont you think?

I’ve used the Vintage Vogue set to decorate my envelope and then added the flowers after crimping. The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments set and stamped onto whisper white which I’ve cut out using my gorgeous Big Shot and the Lots of Tags sizzlits dies.

If you would like to learn how to make these two projects then contact me today to book your demonstration in.

The ladies really enjoyed using the Big Shot for their projects and were very impressed with how easy it is to use and I’d love to show you how easy it is to use and all the wonderful things you can make with it.

Now I have a couple of Big Shot Bundles for you to purchase – just click on the “Latte Specials” tab for more information and pricing.

Sisters

Hello and I do hope youre having a great week!

Its a busy one here so I wanted to get this post in before I get stuck into the kits and demonstration preparations for the two demonstrations I have this weekend.

A few weeks back in my Technique Challenge over at Soul Scrappers I ran a challenge for the ladies to create their own Designer Papers using their stamps and inks. Sometimes we spend hours or even days looking for that perfect patterned paper for our layouts when we have all the tools we need to make our own original papers. This layout – yes I did do some scrapping – was inspired by the sample in our current Autumn-Winter mini catalogue and as my sister and I both love purple well I just had to change the colours!

Due to me creating this layout on a 12×12 piece of whisper white it became very hard to photograph so if you’d like a closer view just click on the photo and it will enlarge in a separate window for you. This photo was taken in December when we had the whole family together – and this only happens every 20 years or so – it takes us all that long to recover!  Just kidding – its hard to get everyone together these days as some of us have grown up children and we are all busy in what we do – it doesnt help that we are spread across three states of Australia.

Here is a close up of the layered flower on the main photo/layer.

I’ve just stamped the two sized flowers in different inks – Rich Razzleberry (love this colour!) and Pale Plum.  I’ve then layered them and popped a half pearl from the pretties kit in the centre.

You may notice the ribbon is also ‘gathered’ which is a neat trick using sticky strip and I’d be happy to show you if you’d like to know how.

I did add a couple of extra flowers to my layout and the sentiment as well which was done using Wonderful favourites.

Its funny how close you become to your sister when you move out of home and get married yet while you were in the same house you hated each other so there is hope for my girls yet!!

I do hope you like this layout. It is very plain but I think too that it is enough :)

Secret Box of Blessings

You may remember last month I told you about the Secret Stampin’ Sister Swap that we have on our Demonstrator Group ESAD-SU.  The requirements are you send 2 cards and one small gift a month and then on the third month you receive a gift to the value of $30.

Well this is what I saw when I opened my Secret Sister Package for March.

How nice hey?? It even had a couple of butterflies in there for the girls and a note in the card to tell me to share the chocolates! Well I shared the eggs with the girls and hubby and I both had a picnic :)

You might see in the pack there was a little package with ribbons and daubers in it – in my Secret Sister’s note she also said that one can never have too many ribbons and extra daubers never go astray! Well this is so true – as crafters we all know that one can never have too many ribbons and if youre a sponger/shader like me those daubers get a good workout and I really do need to get some more!

Inside the box I also received a little pillow box with a gorgeous distressed flower on top.  How sweet is that little pillow box? and so simply decorated. It also had 3 little eggs inside. After seeing this I just had to order me the pillow box die!

Also inside the box was a little gift box with flowers and tags.

How sweet is this??

I love the little tags and I just love the flowers and the colours – I just love everything thing about this little gift and stamp sets. How did she know I love purple I wonder??

Now finally … the  card

How lovely is this card?? I love this set and the wheel and the colours and everything about this card. I am thinking that I might know my Secret Sister well as she seems to know everything I like!

I must say though that when I first saw the Very Vintage Stampin’ round I didnt realise it had a butterfly on it until I had actually stamped with it!

The stamp sets used in these items are Cottage Garden, Vintage Vogue, Very Vintage Stampin’ Round and Heard from the Heart.

Did you know that the Cottage Garden set is only available in Australia & New Zealand?? thats right its not in any of the catalogues in USA or Canada. How special is that???

Thank you so much to my Secret Sister – hopefully she reads my blog – I feel very blessed to have you as my Secret Sister!

Introducing Phillipe …

Welcome to Saturday and another Utah Divas International Sketch.

I love this sketch!

It has so many opportunites!

I’m not sure what it is about sketches but they just get my creatives juices flowing. I’ve sat here during the week (staring at my new ink pad storage unit) trying to think of ideas to create with the new stamps I received – free stamps too!

Some of you may be unaware that while you can earn free stamps during Sale A Bration we too can earn free stamps as Demonstrators. You can earn sets for signing up new demonstrators and for the total amount of Sales you do during the Sale A Bration period. This year I earned 3 free stamp set which arrived on Thursday and I’m really looking forward to putting them together and creating some more this week.

Here is what I created for todays sketch

I’ve created this card using the new Autumn Days stamp set from the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue.

I’ve had quite a few requests for Sympathy or Thinking of You cards of late so I thought this one would fit that category.

I dont have any of the Autumn Traditions Designer Series Papers but loved the colours they used to I just used the swatch in the catalogue to choose the colours of cardstock and inks to use. I also replicated one of the patterns of the papers in the DSP pack using my stamps and inks. This is the leaf strip on my card.

I also received my Soft Suede Cardstock and Ink this week and I must say I loved working with this colour this morning and I can see its going to be a new favourite and whats even better is that it wont be retiring come September! Gotta be happy about that!

I love all the elements of this stamp set with the wheat, grass, leaves, pine cones and of course Phillipe – the very splendid pheasant!

So now that I’ve introduced you to Phillipe its time to skip along to the next blog in the Utah Divas International Sketch Design Team being the very splendid Lori Ames blog to see what she’s created this week.

Clear Mount Stamps are here!

With the introduction of the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue you now have a new option for purchasing and storing your stamps.

You can still purchase them as you have always done with the wooden blocks or now you can purchase them in the new Clear Mount system.  Just so there is no confusion – the stamps are NOT clear.  As soon as you mention unmounted stamps people think clear and they arent.

The rubber part of the stamp is still the same as that for the wood mounted stamps but they’ve been put onto a foam cushion that has a cling backing on it and Stampin’ Up! have designed their own clear acrylic blocks. They are not the same as regular acrylic blocks as they are styled like a wood block with the grip part on the sides. They are very good quality blocks but you wouldnt expect anything esle from Stampin’ Up! would you??

They come in a lovely DVD style case and each one has a sleeve with an image of all the stamps on the front and a thumbnail picture of all the images along the spine!

Clear-Mount Rubber Stamp Features

  • Nine different sizes of clear blocks available individually or as a discounted bundle.
  • Blocks have ergonomic grooves on all four sides for easy grip and traditional wood-mount feel.
  • Stamps and blocks are durable and easy to clean with your Stampin’ Scrub and Stampin’ Mist.
  • Optional image labels on stamp backs let you decide if you want to see the image through the block or not.
  • Tight die-cutting for easy image positioning.
  • Large clear blocks can be used to create collages or spell words with alphabet sets.
  • Stamps store easily in standard, DVD-type cases with artwork on front and spine, making organization easy.

Not only do they have all these wonderful features but they are cheaper to buy as well – this means you can get more for you money and with less storage space needed hubby wont know how much you’ve spent ;)

Please contact me today if you would like to see these stamps in action and I will show you a neat trick on how to put them altogether!
