Growing Green

I had all good intentions to get this card done and the posted before lunch today however when hubby asks “Did you want to go to Officeworks?” well you dont ask why you just ‘do’!

Here is this week’s Utah Divas Sketch ..

I’ve known what stamp set I’ve wanted to use for this sketch all week but just wasnt sure on what colours to use.  Now I just didnt know what colours to use and thought I could use the Sweet n Sour DSP but think I’ve over used it with the Diva sketches and needed a change and I then thought “Oh I’ll use the Colour Coach”!

The Colour Coach has to be one of the most underrated tools in our Idea Book & Catalogue and I should share it more at my workshops.

It has a swatch for every colour we have in the Catalogue and its all held together by a metal post so when the new In Colours come out in September you can just add them in.

There are cards up the front that tell you how colours work and how you should choose the right colours to go together.

Now on the back of the swatches there is something special …

I dare say this is ‘why’ it was given the name of  ‘Colour Coach’!  Just look at all the choices you get!

There’s a Creative Combination and a Getting Started Combination as well as a Dynamic Duo – now there is one of these combinations on the back over every colour swatch.

How good is that? You’ll never be stuck for a colour combination again! Now did you know this is not only available to Demonstrators? its available to purchase from the Idea Book & Catalogue for just AU$28.95.

The colour I wanted to use was Pretty in Pink for the flower so I pulled out that card in my Colour Coach and went with the Creative Combination of Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery and Bashful Blue.

I even went as far as to use the Dynamic Duo colour of Melon Mambo for my sentiment.

Here is my card …

I just love how this card turned out and really wondering why I havent used this Stamp Set before now? needless to say you will see quite a few more cards using this set in the future.

I do hope you like what I’ve done with this sketch and the colour combination and if you’d like to order a Colour Coach or the Growing Green stamp set then please feel free to drop me a line or give me a call.

Now dont forget what the other Designing Diva’s have created with this sketch and there are links on the Utah Divas Blog and the next blog to visit is the lovely Ruthie B and just keep following the links till you get back to here – dont forget to leave a comment for each of the Divas cos we all just lurv comments :)

**Retiring stamp sets!

I love Stampin’ Up!’s promotions and I try to show you various projects in relation to the promotion and yesterday I had a play with the Playful Petals Stamp Set.

Now this set is actually retiring at the end of August so if you want it you better get it now – especially since its over $10 off the regular price!

I love this flower stamp – actually I love all the flowers in this set!  Maybe because I get to colour them in all purty colours.

I havent actually used the Tea Party DSP (it is designed from this stamp set) but I have used the colours from that pack to colour my flowers and for the cardstock and inks I used.

I have also specifically used the colours that are staying after the Colour Renovation happens.  I’ve even reorganised my inks, markers, reinkers and cardstock to the new colour families and I must say I do like the colours that have been grouped together even if I do now have a few holes here and there!

I also wanted to show you a close up of the flower on the bottom left as its all ‘dimensionalised’.

Is that even a word? well it is now!  I’m sorry its not so ‘clear’ as my camera isnt as flash as some and close ups arent one of its strong points!  I think you can still see the dimension it has though.

Have a wonderful Friday – I’m off for a Coffee and some toast – late breakfasts here during School Holidays!

a la carte stamps

You may have noticed over the past few mini catalogues the introduction of ‘a la carte’ stamps.  These are single stamped that are priced economically for you so you canstart stamping quickly and at a price that suites everyone.

In our Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue we have four of these a la carte stamps of which one is the gorgeous All a Flutter stamp.  I’ve had this stamp for some time and managed to make a card this past week that I’d seen a month or so ago and just loved so much I bookmarked it to case.

How nice and rich is this card? The card was originally designed by the lovely Ilina Crouse. I have added just an extra couple of layers to make the main panel pop.

It reminds me of those framed butterflies you can buy which reminds me of a story from my childhood which I might share at a later date – I wonder if my two sister’s remember.

Recipe:

Stamps
• All a Flutter
• En Francais
Cardstock
• Basic Black

• Very Vanilla
• Watercolour Paper
Ink
• Basic Gray
• Jet Black Stazon
• Soft Suede

I love this card and I love this butterfly!

Individually yours

I know I’ve often talked about how good it is to be part of the Stampin’ Up! family and here is the proof. What other large international company would listen to its demonstrators in another country? well Stampin’ Up! does!

We have been asking since Stampin’ Up! began in Australia in 2006 for the Stampin’ Write® markers to be sold individually as some people don’t want or cant afford a whole pack and just want to buy their favourite colours well now you can! From now till 30th November you can purchase your favourite colours individually for just $4.95! Now this IS a bargain as other markers that are comparable in quality cost much more than that.

I was asked to do a demonstration for Elite Stampers run by Angela Sargeant. She is like my 2nd level upline and we’ve been friends for quite a few years now and I was thrilled when she asked me to do a demonstration. We had many new girls coming to this meeting so I wanted to show them a variety of things you can do with the markers.

Here is a card I made using the Always stamp set from the Spring Mini Catalogue. I just love this set and will be sorry to see it finish at the end of the month so if you’d like to get this set the time is now!

I’ve done the ‘direct to rubber’ technique on the heart. Using the markers I’ve ‘coloured’ the image on the stamp with the different markers and then just given it the ‘huff’ and stamped it onto whisper white card stock. These are so easy to do yet look like a printed image.

Its my sister’s wedding anniversary today so I used the Happy Anniversary from Birthday Cheer and Wishes and will pop this card in the post tomorrow.

Here is another card I made again using the direct to rubber technique. This time I used the aqua painter to drag the colours in a little for subtle shading. The areas I wanted more shading I just took the colour off the tip of the marker with the aqua painter and shaded those areas a little darker.

This card is made using the Summer by the Sea stamp set which is just a beautiful set to own – especially if you like to water colour or colour in.

I have a couple of other techniques I shared with the team on Friday and I’ll share those with you tomorrow.

If you would like to take advantage of the single marker promotion but would also like to learn how to use them more and better then ring or email me to book in your demonstration or to book in for my marker class.

Want to get some markers or products but dont want a demonstration? thats fine as you can ring or email your order through to me. I now also have a frequent shoppers program for those customers who dont want a demonstration but still want to be rewarded for shopping with me. So email or ring for more details on this new program.

Till tomorrow …..
