What do you do with …….

Ribbon Spools ?

Well empty ones at least!

You can pull the spools apart and remove the circle pieces of cardboard. Now you could keep one of each size and use these as circle templates – that is until you’ve saved the money to buy the Circle Scissor Plus!

These can also be used to create curves and rounded corners larger than the punch does or theres always the templates for making pom poms! Do kids still do that these days?? I know I always used to make them as a kid – ahh childhood memories – gotta love them!

But what about the plastic spools???

Well this is what you can do with the spools ……………

You can make them any height and you can pop in so many different things …

  • ribbons
  • smarties
  • buttons
  • m&m’s
  • brads
  • chocolate bars – well long skinny ones like this White Knight or Curly Wurlys
  • roll up money and pop inside
  • keys to the new car (I wish)
  • a map with directions to the new iPad (now that would make an awesome birthday gift!)
  • coloured pencils
  • watercolour crayons
  • a lovely pen

So many different ideas!  All you need to do is to measure around your spool and thats how wide you cut your piece of acetate and the height is up to you! Use sticky strip to hold it all together and your done – soooo easy!  If you wanted to jazz up your tubes then you could always use the lovely printed window sheets in the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue.

Dont forget to keep an eye on the Last Chance List and the availability list and make sure you put your order in before the items you want are gone for good.

Also, I should have my delivery of new 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalogues over the next few days so if you havent pre-ordered yours you’d better do so soon!

Friends Forever

I’ve seen lots of cards made using acetate and have wanted to try one for a while and well I wasn’t sure where to start or what set to use. Then I noticed the little one on the front cover of our Spring Mini Catalogue.

AcetateFriend1If you look closely you will notice that I have added a few more accents to my card than that on the Mini Cover.  To work out the size I wanted to make I first measured the frame image from the Summer Love rub ons then added a nice margin. I then took 5mm off top, bottom and right side to give me the size of the whisper white insert.

All the rub ons I’ve used came from the Summer Love pack in the Spring Mini Catalogue – I love this set and they are such good value as you get two colour sheets in the pack and it coordinates so well with the Great Friend Stamp set and the Walk in the Park Designer Series Papers.

AcetateFriend2Here is a photo where you can see the shadow on the whisper white layer from those rub ons on the front of the acetate.

I’ve applied the ‘friends forever’ and frame to the front of the acetate piece. Then holding the whisper white piece in place I position the leaves  and small flowers on the whisper white layer.

My good friend Caz has made quite a few so I consulted her on how to assemble them so as not to have the adhesive showing. Now the one on the cover of the Spring Mini has a little baja breeze spine on it which I assume is to cover the adhesive. I didnt really like this way so I decided to use my handy dandy Crop-a-dile and punch a couple of holes and tie some ribbon through to secure it all together.

AcetateFriendInsideThe card opens to the lovely greeting from the great friend stamp set on the left and I’ve added some of the gorgeous butterflies, leaves and other accents.

I love how easy this card was to make and what a special card it then becomes!

If you would like to see how this card is made then why not arrange your very own demonstration and earn free stamps and Stampin’ Up! products while you have a fun evening with your friends stamping and make cards or gifts.

Dont forget about the free ribbon bundle with every $100 order and if your party qualifies then you get another free ribbon bundle!

How sweet is that??    Ring or email me today to arrange your demonstration.

Hodge Podge with a difference

I love the versatility of Stampin’ Up products as I’ve said on many occasions but it wasnt until a recent challenge on our demonstrator yahoogroup that this idea was born!

The challenge was set by the lovely Makeesha Byl from Western Australia. Makeesha and I have become good friends since helping her with her blog sig and watermarks – its amazing how God works in our lives’ for our own good!

Makeesha challenged us to make these gorgeous key rings using Stampin’ Up!’s hodge podge bookplates.

How gorgeous are they?

I’ve used the priceless stamp set with the “Priceless” sentiment and the swirl in caramel. I’ve also done the sponging around the edge to make the edges softer.

Its sealed with crystal effects and has acetate on the outside to protect the stamped area. There is a brad in one end to hold the two pieces together and the key ring in the other end.

On one side I have layered two hearts over the swirly image. I have been making these for my hostesses lately and they just love them!

Dont forget if you order the Priceless before September 30 you will also get the So Swirly jumbo wheel for free being part of the Free Wheelin promotion.

Remember I am away on holidays so you will need to email your order to me or contact me on my mobile.
