Birthdays and Double Pocket Bags

I dont know what happens at your house but as soon as my girls go back to school (alongwith all those million school notes) we seem to be inundated with birthday party invitations! This is the case this weekend. Yesterday afternoon in the 38C heat we got in the hotter car and went off to the shops to get two birthday presents. Now this would have certainly caused a massive headache if I hadnt had one already!

Caitlyn said the girls wanted stuff from Smiggle which I ventured into earlier in the day (child free) and realised that I didnt know what to get these girls for the money I wanted to spend. In hindsight I should have just got them a gift card each and been done with it but no … obviously I wasnt wearing my thinking hat!

We went to Starfish and told Caitie to just pick something for the girls here and due to the way I was feeling it didnt really matter if she went a little over budget. It only took her 15 minutes to choose! So one girlfriend is getting a butterfly necklace and the other some butterfly earrings.

Double Pocket Bags

Double Pocket Bags

I had intended to make some of Keesh’s rectangle gift boxes but the little boxes these pieces of jewellry came in would need some ‘padding’ so I opted for some little bags that Derek showed us at Regional Training last September. You can find the tutorial here .

pocketbagandcardArent these little bags just so cute?? and they are made using just one sheet of 12×12 patterned paper. They will fit in the little 4×4 cards I love to make and you could probably fit 2 in each pocket so 4 in total or 2 cards and 2 envelopes.

They will fit the little gift box the jewellry is in perfectly on one side and the card on the other.

The card has been done in purple tones and I’ve used the Happy Birthday from ‘Cheery Chat’ and the Priceless stamp set. You really cant go wrong with pripetalsnshapespocketbagncardceless for girls of all ages! And who doesnt love purple??

Our other birthday girl likes blue so I went with bright and funky!

The patterned paper is from the Petals and Paisley Designer Series Papers.

The card is done using the Sweet Shapes stamp set and the friend sentiment is from the Level 1 Hostess set For a Friend.

The first party is a sleep over tonight and it will be Caitie’s first sleepover so we will see how that goes! Maybe I should send some chocolates for the mum or maybe a room with padded walls! Then after being picked up tomorrow morning its home and get ready for the pool party at lunch time!  I am really dreading the state Caitlyn will be in come Sunday night and I have warned her it might be the last time she has two parties in one weekend! Thankfully I have a demonstration on Sunday afternoon so I wont be home till dinner time and hopefully hubby will still be calm, cool and collected. Originally I said she could go to just one party but the intelligent hubby said ‘no let her go to both’ so if its bad sunday night we all know who to blame!! I might go home with one of the ladies at the demonstration instead!! lol

Have a great saturday and please try and stay cool and safe if youre anywhere in Australia. We have horrid temperatures forecast for this weekend with high winds and that means high fire danger too. So keep us in mind and say a prayer for all us Aussies.

Love Owl-ways

4x4minimagholderYesterday I showed you these very cute little Mini Magazine Holders I made.

I have scheduled a class for these on 25th February so if you’d like to come and make these beauties then please email or ring me to book your seat.

You will make the mini magazine holder and 4 little cards to go inside.

I’m including 3 of the cards here that you will make and they are all done using the “Love Owl-ways” set from the Summer Mini Catalogue.

These cards are all quick and easy to make and you’ll also learn how to watercolour using the ink from your inkpads and your aqua painter.  I promise you these cards are not hard at all.

Email or ring me if you need more details on this class.

Mini Magazine holders

minimagholdersWell I found these gorgeous little boxes on Becky Roberts blog and are just sooo cute I had to make more than one!3x3minimagholder

How cute are they??

The tutorial on Becky’s blog is for the smaller box designed to hold 3×3 cards or love notes. Although it will hold small note paper or post it notes as I have done here – I even found these small mechanical pencils while doing the ‘back to school’ shopping that fit perfectly in them too!

I am not sure about you but I find the 3×3 cards or love notes too small to send as a card but they do make wonderful gift cards.

4x4minimagholderI really like to make little 4×4 cards – they are just that little bit bigger and a size I feel comfortable in sending as a card so I adjusted the measurements on the mini magazine holder template to fit 4×4 cards in.

You can also get 4 cards from one sheet of 12×12 cardstock too so they do work out a little more cost effective.

This is my larger version which I’ve done in Pretty in Pink Cardstock with a piece of Berry Bliss Paper around the bottom and finished off with Pink Taffeta ribbon.

As you can see this size fits the 4×4 cards in it perfectly.

I will be having a class here at my place on 25th February where you will make one of these holders and 4 cards to go inside so if you’d like to come and make these cards then please drop me an email or give me a call to book your spot as places are limited.

Pop back tomorrow to see the cards I made for inside the holder.

LoveHearts4x4

No No I’m not talking about a plank of wood but small and addictive little cards!Friends4x4

They are quick to make and you can get 3 out of an A4 sheet or 4 out of a 12×12 sheet of cardstock.

These ones here are all using stamps or papers from the Summer Mini Catalogue. They can be cute and quirky (yes its a word) like these two cards using the Love Matters set.

4x4lovedots

Here is one just using one greeting stamp from Love Matters and using the printed paper from the Loves Me Designer Series Paper pack.

I also used the Carte Postale and a couple of offcuts from the Enchante Designer Series paper pack to make these two elegant cards. It doesnt matter what you do with the Carte Postale set – they all turn out elegant!

I originally wasnt going to buy this set but then I saw so many nice things with it and there are 11 stamps in the set so it works out to be very good value how could one say no??

I hope you like these little cards and I am considering having a monthly card kit for sale each month and no doubt you will see a few of these cards in those packs – email me for more details for signing up for these card kits.
