As Easel As …

I’ve been seeing quite a few of these Easel cards of late and have wanted to try one for some time now so took the opportunity while stamping with the lovely Kerri Hunter who came to visit from Victoria this past week.

EaselCard

I’m not sure why but when I see a new style of card (well new to me) I always think how nice they are and that I’d like to make one but they are probably fiddly or too involved.

I was pleasantly surprised when I found out just how easy these cards really are so dont be surprised if you see a few more in the future!

This card on the left is the front view and I’ve gone and used the ever faithful Snow Swirled stamp set.  I’m not really a ‘snow’ or ‘cold’ Christmas card person but I really do love working with snowflakes.

The colours I’ve used are Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze and Close to Cocoa and were actually inspired by some cards Kerri had shared on her blog. I’ve also added a few white little snowflakes on the base of the card.

EaselSideOnHere is a side view of the card so you can see how it stands up and why its called an Easel Card.

To make the card stand up you simply use a brad as a point to where to lay the bottom of the card.

EaselFlatYou can actually mail this card flat as you can see by this last photo.

These cards are super easy to make and I’d love to show you how – contact me today to book your workshop.

Want to purchase the products to make this card?  this is what you will need …

  • Snow Swirled Stamp Set
  • Chocolate Chip Cardstock
  • Baja Breeze Cardstock
  • Whisper White Cardstock
  • Chocolate Chip Classic Stampin’ Pad
  • Close to Cocoa Classic Stampin’ Pad
  • Baja Breeze Classic Stampin’ Pad
  • Whisper White Craft Stampin’ Pad
  • Two way glue pen
  • Dazzling Diamonds
  • Rhinestone Brad

During November when you place an outside order of $50 or more you will go into the draw for a free Forest Friends stamp set.  An outside order is an order that is not placed as part of a workshop or demonstration. So contact me today to place your order and be entered into the draw for this gorgeous free set.

Dont forget the Spring Mini Catalogue finishes November 30 so if there is anything in there that you still ‘need’ then contact me today to order it before its too late!

Friends Forever

I’ve seen lots of cards made using acetate and have wanted to try one for a while and well I wasn’t sure where to start or what set to use. Then I noticed the little one on the front cover of our Spring Mini Catalogue.

AcetateFriend1If you look closely you will notice that I have added a few more accents to my card than that on the Mini Cover.  To work out the size I wanted to make I first measured the frame image from the Summer Love rub ons then added a nice margin. I then took 5mm off top, bottom and right side to give me the size of the whisper white insert.

All the rub ons I’ve used came from the Summer Love pack in the Spring Mini Catalogue – I love this set and they are such good value as you get two colour sheets in the pack and it coordinates so well with the Great Friend Stamp set and the Walk in the Park Designer Series Papers.

AcetateFriend2Here is a photo where you can see the shadow on the whisper white layer from those rub ons on the front of the acetate.

I’ve applied the ‘friends forever’ and frame to the front of the acetate piece. Then holding the whisper white piece in place I position the leaves  and small flowers on the whisper white layer.

My good friend Caz has made quite a few so I consulted her on how to assemble them so as not to have the adhesive showing. Now the one on the cover of the Spring Mini has a little baja breeze spine on it which I assume is to cover the adhesive. I didnt really like this way so I decided to use my handy dandy Crop-a-dile and punch a couple of holes and tie some ribbon through to secure it all together.

AcetateFriendInsideThe card opens to the lovely greeting from the great friend stamp set on the left and I’ve added some of the gorgeous butterflies, leaves and other accents.

I love how easy this card was to make and what a special card it then becomes!

If you would like to see how this card is made then why not arrange your very own demonstration and earn free stamps and Stampin’ Up! products while you have a fun evening with your friends stamping and make cards or gifts.

Dont forget about the free ribbon bundle with every $100 order and if your party qualifies then you get another free ribbon bundle!

How sweet is that??    Ring or email me today to arrange your demonstration.

Christmas Baubles

Its a bit of a dreary day here today so thought I’d share a little set of Christmas cards I’ve made. They are actually a case of the cards the USA Demonstrators made at their Convention recently in Utah.

White4x4RedGreen

These are just three very quick and easy Christmas cards. All the same design just a change in the colour and sentiment.

This one is done in the traditional Christmas colours of Red and Green and if you take a close look you will see I’ve added a Rhinestone brad to the smaller bauble.  The sentiment is embossed in Gold and is from the Many Merry Messages set.

White4x4BlueRedThis second card is done in Red and Blue – I love using blue with my Christmas cards so expect to see more Christmas cards using blue shades.

Same design and layout as the other just a change in the colours and greeting – the greeting on this card is from the Snow Swirled stamp set.

Here is the last one in this set and I made this card in these colours specifically for two very dear friends who love pink!

White4x4PinkGreen2The colours arent showing up too well but I’ve used Pixie Pink and Certainly Celery for the colours.

The greeting for this one comes from the Occassional Greetings Stamp Set.

Now I’m offering a class on this set .  Make 12 cards with matching envelopes for just $20.

Now I can do this class at my place or yours. If you want me to come to your house then you’ll need to have a minimum of 5 people attending – thats including you!

If you want to book in for the class at my house then please contact me as soon as possible to reserve your spot as my house is small and numbers are limited.

I am also offering a bundle for you to purchase to make these cards.

Friendly Upsize

I am sorry I haven’t posted in a few days. I’m sure you understand the saying ‘it never rains – it pours!’ and that was this case this past week.

c6kraftbajafriendLast week I had a touch of the flu and what I thought to be a bit of a fibromyalgia flare up – well the flu went after dosing up on some flu medication but the pain stayed.

It seems I’ve aggravated the slipped discs in my spine again and they are giving me all sorts of grief!  I am still in pain although its now not as bad as it was last weekend and Tuesday. I am having some Bowen Massage Therapy which is helping I just wish it would work quicker!

Last class I had they asked if I could convert one of my small 4×4 gift cards into a regular C6 card.  Thankfully this one was very easy to convert  – I just made the piece of the parisian Breeze floral paper a little longer and extended the Kraft piece.

Recipe
Stamps: Great Friend
Ink: Mellow Moss, Baja Breeze
Paper: Baja Breeze, Kraft, Whisper White, Parisian Breeze Specialty Designer Papers
Accessories: Kraft Taffeta Ribbon, Stampin Dimensionals, Eyelet Border Punch

This makes a very quick and easy card and I think I’ll go through the other Designer Series Papers to make more of this design in other colour combinations.

Great Friend Purse

This past weekend we’ve had a Cyber Stamp for our ESAD (Extra Special Australian Demonstrators) group and I have totally loved the whole weekend with sketch and colour challenges, chats, bingo and more chats!

Its been great to get to know some of the other demonstrators better and share our love for Stampin Up!, stamping, card making and dedication to keeping Cadbury in business! Not to mention how glare from a tidy desk can create headaches!

Today was my turn to present a 3d challenge and I chose this great little gift set for the girls to make.
I first saw this project last week on Becky Roberts’ blog and knew I had to just make one and they didn’t look ‘too’ hard to make.

sackbagwcard

This project is quite easy to make and it makes an awesome gift set!

The bag is made from a paper sack – similar to those you’d get take away McDonalds or Hungry Jacks in so next time you’re there for the kids ask for a couple of their small sacks.

sackbagIts just a matter of making panels for the outside and attaching them to the sack and I’ve used a velcro dot to secure the flap behind the Butterfly and stamped frame.

This bag measures 13cm square or 5″ square.

Recipe:

Stamps: Great Friend
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Kraft, Whisper White, Parisian Breeze Specialty Designer Series Paper
Inks: Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Crop-a-dile, corduroy buttons, baja breeze stripe grosgrain ribbon, velcro dots, sticky strip, stampin dimensionals

You could make this as a gift set and include 4 or 5 small cards – the card below I’ve made is a 10cm square card (or 4×4)

sackcardRecipe:

Stamps: Great Friend
Paper: Baja Breeze, Whisper White, Kraft, Parisian Breeze Specialty Designer Series Paper
Inks: Baja Breeze, Mellow moss
Accessories: Eyelet Border Punch, Kraft Taffeta ribbon, stampin dimensionals

I really loved making this project and do hope the girls enjoy making it and I know it will make an awesome class as well.

Wouldnt you love to give a gift like this to a friend or family member? Why not ring and arrange your class today!

Have a great Sunday and I do believe its time for another coffee!

Time for Collage

I was going to call this post “Male Sense of Time” but then realised they dont have any! Jusssssssssst kidding … I mean we’d be lost without them right? well lets make them think so at least ;)

concertinacover2Today I’m sharing a concertina card made using the new Sense of Time stamp set – this set will be in the upcoming Spring Mini Catalogue which will start on 1st August and go through to 30th November.

The size of this little concertina card is 4×4 and I made it with Father’s Day in mind but didnt use the Father’s Day stamp in it so that those that wanted to give this card to another male other than their father then they can.

The ladies did this at last friday’s class and they all loved it and were rather happy with how the card turned out.

The striped paper I’ve used on the front is from the Urban Oasis Designer Series Paper pack. The stamps used in this card are all from the Sense of Time stamp set and the Organic Grace Hostess set (Level 1).

The card opens up with four panels in a concertina style.

concertinaInside

All images are stamped randomly and I started with stamping the clock faces first then filled in the gaps. There is room for writing on the back of the card and it all ties up with some Chocolate Chip Taffeta Ribbon.

I really enjoyed creating this card and I enjoyed sharing it with my class last week.

Would you like to make this card?

Then contact me today and book your demonstration in and I will come to you and show you and your friends how to make this card and you’ll see just how easy it is to create something special for that special man.

Dont forget to ask about my “Stampin’ Up!® Birthday” specials for August – its my Stampin Up birthday in August and my customers and hostesses get the presents! So stay tuned for that one!

Fresh Cuts Class

Morning All! Its been a few busy days after my return from Convention and still trying to get back to the swing of things – Convention was the best I’ve been to and miss all my friends (new and old) from there. It just goes so quickly and with over 400 attending this year it was hard to see everyone I wanted to and spend some quality with them :(

freshcuts5boxHere’s a little set I designed as a gift but have showed my regular Stamp A Stack girls and they all loved it so much they too want to make a set so its now a class … and I have a very special “Fresh” offer for you to make sure you keep reading!

Here we have the little box it comes in. Its very cute and very easy to make and I followed the Easy Box tutorial on Paula Goff’s blog.

I’ve just stamped the collage image in black and then daubered pastels over the top. The sentiment is then stamped and I’ve used the Small Oval and Oval punches to layer it.freshcuts5boxside

Here’s a side view of the box with the cards inside.

As you can see the fresh cuts notes & envelopes fit perfectly inside!  The ribbon just secures everything inside.

I’ve then made five little Fresh Cuts Notes all the same but just changed the colours for each one and stamped on the envelopes so they all match.

Here’s the set of cards

freshcuts5set

How cute are they?? These really are easy and fun to do! I’ve also used the 5 Petal Flower punch to add an extra flower into the card and have inserted behind the die-cut flower of the note.  This set only uses the one stamp set – Fresh Cuts. Its such a versatile stamp set and combined with the Fresh Cuts Notes it makes for a quick and easy card or gift. I think these turn out quite elegant as well.

Now for “Leonie’s Fresh Special” …

Purchase the following ….

  • Fresh Cuts Stamp Set – $38.95
  • Fresh Cuts Notes (15) -  17.50
  • Five Petal Flower Punch – $30.95

Total Value of these items is $87.40 but when you mention this special or attend this class purchase this bundle for just $75.00! What a sweet deal! Add a pack of rhinetone brads for just an extra $15.00 – so that means you get the bundle plus the rhinestone brads for just $90.00 plus shipping & handling. So email or ring me today to book in your Fresh Cuts in a Box class – I can do it here or at your place for you and your friends.

Now I must scoot as I have a Stamp A Stack to go to – have a great Saturday.

Fresh Cut Bling

I’ve been busy taking out all my old DSP papers and putting in the new ones as well as taking out the old In Colour Cardstock and putting in the lovely new In Colours.

Now I have a mountain of retired DSP and In Colour cardstock and scraps that needs a new home so if youre after some please contact me as hubby is sick of all the boxes everywhere :(

artichokeblingcuts-envieI made this card the other week for the make n take at a demonstration. My hostess asked for Fresh Cuts with bling so thats what she got!!

You cant see the bling too well in the photo but the small flower from the Fresh Cuts set is stamped in Mellow Moss then covered with glue from the 2 way glue pen and dazzling diamonds sprinkled all over.

We had to wait for it to dry before we pierced a hole in the centre then put a rhinestone brad through the centre – we also put the brads backs through the white note layer to secure it firmly and as we have a Mellow Moss layer in the middle of the card you cant see the back of the brad.

artichokeblingcuts-inside

Inside the card we stamped the ferny leaf stamp down the right hand side of the inside of the note as you can see here.

The mellow moss piece is stamped with the collage image and then adhered to the inside of the card as shown so you still have the right side of the note to write a message on.

The taffeta ribbon is tied around the card so it covers the start of the mellow moss piece and is knotted at the front of the card.

artichokeblingcuts-sideonThe sides of the mellow moss insert and front of the fresh cuts are both torn on the right hand side so when the card is closed you can see the three layers of the card.

This last picture shows the three layers and you can actually see the centre flower a bit better here.

Now I’d better get back to my sorting so I can then make some more cards and samples to share with you!

Dont forget to check out the retired stamps I have for sale on my Stamp Clearance page and remember I now have all this Designer Series Paper to clear out as well.

Have a great Easter and remember a balanced diet is one with a chocolate in each hand!!

Diva Sketch Challenge #19

I cant believe we have used up another week! I have had a good week though with just a couple of Stamp A Stacks and a few days at home – all in a row too!

Its Saturday so its time for another Diva Sketch Challenge and here is this week’s sketch.

Nothing too inspiring and I think I did mention last week that I thought I’d struggle with it. Now not sure if its the lack of sugar (being back at Weight Watchers) or too many days at home in a row but I actually dreamt making this card – how scary!

trifoldstarsI remembered the triangle trifold card I made last year from Splitcoast Stampers and thought that would be perfect as I really didnt want to a card with those large triangles. I still had bought some of the Spring Break Designer Series Papers and thought I’d play with them too.

As you can see I’ve had fun playing with the In the Stars stamp set and my star punches. In the Stars is a set in the current summer mini catalogue which only has one more month to go so if you’d like to get this set you’ll have to do it soon.

I remember making one of these last year for my Father in Law and he was very impressed on how it folded and did up.

Here’s a view of the card opened.

trifoldstars-inside

I hope you like my little card and if you’d like to view the other cards made for this sketch click on the sketch above and it will take you to the Diva’s blog.

If you’d like me to show you how to make these and many other wonderful projects then email me to book in your demonstration! Dont forget the retirement list is due out tomorrow so I’ll post that as soon as I can.

Have a totally blessedleoniesig1 weekend!

Diva Sketch #16

Here we are again at another Sketchy Saturday and another challenge for me. You will be pleased to know I remembered ‘not’ to use the Wanted stamp set – see sometimes my brain does function!

Here is the sketch.

Doesnt look too hard now does it? Well its not really and the idea for this card had been bouncing around in my head for a few days – I just hadnt thought of the squares but it adapted well I think.

Here’s my card.

Blue without YouSquares look easy till you start cutting and layering! It was a little fiddly but I think its turned out quite cute.

Now before you ask … that saying is not from any stamp set. Its one I made up and printed out.

    Recipe

Stamps: Love Owl-ways
Paper: Brocade Blue, Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue, Whisper White, Water colour paper
Inks: Stazon Jet Black, Pixie Pink, Tempting Turquoise
Accessories: Bashful Blue grosgrain, aqua painter, dimensionals.

It turned out a little different to the sketch but I think if I did the card exactly like the sketch Alicia would fall off her chair and we cant have that happening now can we???

Have a peaceful sleep as tomorrow is going to be another stinkin hot day again … I am looking forward to Monday as its only going to be 30°C – which is around 90F (for my American friends)
