Soul Scrappers Thursday Technique Challenge – TC3

You may remember that I told you that I had been asked by the lovely Erika Martin to be on her ‘Soul Team’ for the Soul Scrappers forum – well today is my first challenge! So I do hope you will go to the forum and join in on the challenges and fun!

This is my very first Technique Challenge and I hope you like what I’ve done. This is all a bit daunting for me to be on a ‘Soul Team’ with such talented ladies!

I thought at first using circles was a bit basic but I do know that some are new to scrapbooking. It also doesn’t hurt to go back to the basics and revisit some of the techniques we did when we started scrapbooking and maybe use them in different ways.

TC3-Everything2Me-layoutHere is my first ‘circles’ layout ….

I’ve used the Stampin’ Up! Love Sparkles Simply Scrappin’ kit for this layout and my lovely new Circle Scissor Plus. I have fallen in love with this tool as it makes making circles so so easy!

I’ve incorporated the circle adhesive die-cuts from the Simply Scrappin’ kit and then cut some more with the Circle Scissor in coordinating colours for this layout.

The large scalloped circle I’ve done by cutting out the largest circle with the Circle Scissor then I’ve taken the guard off my corner rounder and gone all around the edge for the ‘scalloped’ look.

Here is a close up of the “I love You” on the bottom left and the “you mean everything” embellishment

To make the “You mean Everything to me” I’ve used sentiments from the Always stamp set and the frame is from the Frames with a Flourish set.

Now the circle scissor just doesn’t cut circles – you can also draw circles with it!

clip_image008It comes with two attachments – one for cutting and a holder for drawing – now you can draw circles onto plain coloured cardstock to make your own circle patterned paper!

With this layout I took my piece of Specialty Designer Series paper from the Sweet Slumber pack and drew some circles in pencil.

I then used those pencilled circles as a guide for journaling,

Once I had finished and the ink was dry I just used an eraser to remove the pencilled circles.

Here is a close-up of the end of the quote and my “flower” embellishment.

I do hope you like what I’ve done and if you want to do this challenge please and join over at Soul Scrappers to participate in the challenge. Go to the Thursday Technique Challenge 3 post for all the instructions for this challenge.

I can’t wait to see what you make!

Enjoy Mini Case

I know its been a while since I posted and I do apologise for that – I have been extremely busy with classes, Stamp A Stacks and demonstrations. Not to mention the odd blog I’ve been setting up for friends! You may notice some changes here over the next week or so and would love your comments and thoughts on the changes.

Last week I did a demonstration for a friend who wanted a scrapbook page demonstrated. We did this page which is a ‘case’ from a layout in the Mini Spring Catalogue.

For those who dont know ‘CASE’ simply means Copy And Share Everything!

I figured my customers were sick of seeing photo’s of my girls so I thought I’d share another family member. Now as the ladies were looking at the layout I’d completed one said “Wow you look so different without your glasses on!” I giggled and said yes and five years younger!! That’s my little sister and her hubby in that photo! We were all together for my niece’s wedding in January. Now I’ll soon know if she reads my blog wont I?? :D

As I was copying the layout which I originally thought was a 6×6 layout I worked out the circles to be the same size as the journal stamp and there was no way they’d fit on a 6×6 layout. So I grabbed myself a 12×12 sheet and after laying all the pieces out figured it wasnt a 12×12 either so it could only be an 8×8 layout. Now I know we only have 6×6 or 12×12 albums but I thought we’d still do this as the workshop project and I could then show the ladies how to convert the layout to a 12×12 for their albums.

So here are some samples of what you can do with a smaller layout to make it into a 12×12 layout.

Matted onto Olive

Matted onto Groovy Guava 12x12

Thanks for stopping by … now to wait for my sister’s message ;)

Convertible layouts

I showed you some work I’d made with Brocade Basics the other day which you can find here. This is how I vary my Stamp A Stacks – I tailor them to what the customer wants and these ladies do a 12×12 page and 5 of one card.

PricelessNow my ladies who asked for that layout like doing 12×12 layouts and the one in the Idea Book & Catalogue they chose was just a 6×6 so I went about converting the 6×6 design to a 12×12 layout.

It is the same design as the smaller layout but added just a few more elements so it didnt look so bare.

I have added a flower & extra leaf to the top right of the photo and have added more flowers and more flourish leaves to the bottom left corner of the photo.

I have used the Brocade Backgrounds Designer Series Papers which I love – I love the rich greens & browns and all the swirls, flourishes and designs in these papers make them just so easy to work with – although it is hard to make that first cut or fold! Not to mention they are such great value with 12 sheets of double sided paper for just $11.95 – what a bargain!

IBCcase

This is the card the ladies made and it is deceivingly easy to do!

Its just one stamp on the base card, the stamped flower & greeting, a couple pieces of ribbon, a piece of Designer Series Paper (which is actually from offcuts of the above layout – so a great way to use up those scraps in the drawer) and a button – what could be easier??

I would love to share how these items were made with you so why not arrange your demonstration with me today? Be quick as my diary is filling quickly these days.

Dont forget we still have the Extra Extra Hostess Special until 15th July where you can earn extra hostess benefits so when you book ask me for more details on the extra’s you can get.
