Stamping Techniques 101 Blog Hop

Welcome to another Stampin’ Techniques 101 Blog Hop!

This month we are showing you different [but simple] ways to use your Aqua Painter and the Ink from the lids of our Ink Pads.

With my trip to Canberra on the weekend I took the opportunity to ink up a set I dont have and went for the sweet Merry Mice stamp set.

This one is so much fun to colour – the mice come to life with some colour.   It turned out rather sweet dont you think?

So how do you colour with an aqua painter and ink pads?  Well you simply squeeze the ink pad while it’s closed and this will create a pool of ink on your lid.  You then use your Aqua Painter (filled with water) to lift the ink and colour your image/s.

Use your images as a guide to colour.  If you’ve chosen one that has extra lines inside the image this is where you want to make your colouring a little darker which will give your image more depth.

Here are my top 5 steps for colouring with Aqua Painters …

  1. ensure you have plenty of water in your aqua painter
  2. gently squeeze it to start the flow of water
  3. pull some colour away from the pool and water it down slightly so you can start light – you can always add more colour but it’s very hard to take colour away if its too dark.
  4. If you have too much water coming through your Aqua Painter take these steps
    • Use a tissue or cloth to dry off excess water from brush
    • hold your Aqua Painter upright with brush at top and squeeze – this will draw excess water back into the chamber.
    • dry off again and continue.
  5. Always have a tissue or scrap piece of paper to clean off brush before changing colours.

I hope you’ve found my tips helpful and liked my little Merry Mice card.
