Hello and welcome back to another Stamping Techniques 101 Blog Hop!  This month we are sharing quick and easy ways to use Washi Tape in your projects.

I am not sure what it is about Washi Tape but everyone loves it right?  I know I do but why? who knows? but it’s cool and we all have to have it don’t we?

Is your supply overrunning like mine is?  Well I hope the Stamping Techniques Team give you some great tips and ideas on ways to use your Washi Tape.

You’ll need these products to make today’s card …
Product List

Here’s my card …

Here’s how to make it …

  1. You’ll need three pieces of Shimmery White – 297mm x 105mm, 80mm x 70mm, 77mm x 67mm. Fold the long piece in half and burnish with bone folder.
  2. Cut your patterned piece of Designer Series Paper to 100mm x 144mm and adhere to card base with Liquid Multipurpose Glue.
  3. Place the larger of the two white pieces into the Candle Border Punch and line up in the middle and punch.
  4. Now select three rolls from the Tasty Treats Washi pack. You’d want a yellow to go behind the flames but the choice of which to use are yours.   Using the top layer (the one you punched the candles from) as a guide stick three rows of washi tape down.
  5. Stamp Happy Birthday in Chocolate Chip Ink above your candles and adhere these two layers together with Liquid Multipurpose Glue.  Straighten as required.  If you have any of the bottom layer showing under the top simply use your snips to trim it off.
  6. Get a long piece of White and Blushing Bride Baker’s Twine and tie around these two layers and into a bow at the front.
  7. Affix the top layer to your card with Dimensionals.

How easy was that?  I hope you find time this week to sit and create some cards and I’d love to hear how you went with this tutorial.  It’s a fun and easy card to make!

Now it’s time to hop over to Carmen’s blog and see what she’s created for you today with Washi Tape

Freshly Brewed Projects – Delicate Details

Good Afternoon and welcome to another Freshly Brewed Projects from the Latte Girls. This week we are designing with the lovely Saleabration Set Delicate Details.

I love this set and love that you can earn it for free during Saleabration with a $90 order. The set includes 5 different lace images and are a great way to give your projects that vintage feel.

I’ve had this card in my Design Journal for a while and glad to finally get it onto cardstock and share it with you  …

How did she do that?

  1. The card base and top layer are Very Vanilla Cardstock and the middle mat is Pink Pirouette.
  2. Stamp the lace images in Soft Suede.
  3. Using Crumb Cake ink stamp the dotty stamp from Avant Garden all around the lace and up the right corner.
  4. Stamp the Flower Image from Avant Garden in Basic Black.
  5. colour the flowers with Pear Pizzazz, Pink Pirouette, So Saffron and Blushing Bride Stampin’ Write markers.
  6. Fussy cut the flowers with my Paper Snips.
  7. The sentiment from Avant Garden is stamped in Rose Red and cut out with one of the labels from the Project Life Cards and Labels framelits.
  8. I sponged around my sentiment and top layer first in pink pirouette then in Soft Suede.
  9. The bow is made from three lengths of Linen Thread and adhered with a Glue Dot.

Download the printable instructions here.

I do hope you liked my Flowers & Lace card today.  The other set I used for this card is Avant Garden which is another set free through Saleabration.  You can grab both of these sets for free with an order of $180 or more.

Now it’s time to see what Libby and Narelle have created for this week using the wonderful Delicate Details Stamp set.

So Detailed … So in Love

I love new products and I especially love being the first to see them and I have a card for you today using the So In Love Stamp Set and So Detailed Thinlit Dies. This was one of the bundles we saw before the catalogue was even released at On Stage in November.

How gorgeous is this bundle?  This bundle has so many options and possibilities and suitable for many different occasions and projects.  I really must create more with it!

Here’s the card we made at On Stage …

This card is so sweet and perfect for any occasion.

It uses the Falling in Love Designer Series Paper for our front panel with the 4 little flowers direct to the patterned paper.  The Belly Band was created using Very Vanilla Cardstock and one of the cut out panels from the So Detailed Thinlits pack.

I attached my bow direct to the Belly Band. The gorgeous Falling in Love Flower Embellishment is stuck direct to the card which also serves as a stopper for the Belly Band.

So you may be wondering how I get to see and use the products before the Catalogue is released.   Stampin’ Up! holds their On Stage events every 6 months which coincides with a release of a new catalogue.  Those Demonstrators who choose to go to these events get to see a Premiere of a selection of the new products. We also get to purchase a select few suites from the catalogue before pre-order starts – we also get a copy of the new upcoming catalogue.

It’s nice to be able to see, touch and use new products before anyone else. In trying the products only makes you want them more – smart marketing by Stampin Up!   I cant tell you how excited I am for the next On Stage in April as we’ll be seeing and creating with new products from the Annual Catalogue being released in June!

So how do you get to one of these events?  Well they are only open to Demonstrators due to the new products being shown.  So if you want to see and play with new stuff now might just be the time for you to join! Become a demonstrator now so you can arrange to attend On Stage in November (the April On Stage events sold out within days).

Joining during Saleabration makes it so much better!  You’ll get $235 in products and pay just $169 plus you’ll get a bonus two stamp set for free! That’s over $300 in products for as little as $169! What a bargain for anyone who loves craft and wants to make a little extra income either to help with the budget or even to just buy more craft stuff!

You can even reduce the cost you pay simply by holding a party first and using the hostess rewards you’d normally spend and discounting your Stampin’ Starter kit. Let’s say you earned $40 in Hostess/Stampin’ Rewards then your kit will only cost you $129. You’ll still get the $235 plus the two free Stamp Sets plus all the business supplies you’ll need if you wish to be a business Demonstrator .. if not – that’s ok too!  You can just have it for the discount for you and your friends if you wish.

Remarkable Saleabration Blog Hop – my favourites

So yes we are back for another Remarkable Saleabration Blog Hop and this month it’s all the products we cant live without …Do you have the song “Cant Live without You” in your head?  oh you do now? sorry!

Now the theme doesn’t sound too hard does it?  Until, of course, you think about it and realise there are many things in the Occasions catalogue that I’ll struggle to live without when the time comes!

My utmost favourite has to be the Special Reason Bundle

If you are a regular visitor to my blog you’ll know I’ve used this bundle a bit and I hope I’ve given you different ideas on how to use it.  If you aren’t a regular visitor click here to see my Special Reason posts.

I have some congratulations cards for you today using the Special Reason Bundle and the  Notecards & Envelopes …

These cards are fun to make and I needed some Congratulations cards for my team that were the top in sales and recruiting last month and these fit the bill perfectly!

Tips …

  • when cutting out peekaboo frame ensure your notecard is open flat so you dont cut through two layers
  • add a vellum leaf or two for more (and subtle) depth
  • use Tombow Liquid Mulitpurpose glue to adhere your pieces as it gives you wiggle time to adjust your pieces.
  • cut a 5mm strip off the front edge of your notecard and add a strip of patterned paper to the inside layer for a little extra flair

I do hope you like my card set today and making a set like this would be perfect for a gift for any occasion or reason – just change the sentiment if you wish to.

Now it’s time to continue on the blog hop and your next blog to visit is that of Susan Timchack and I know she’ll have something lovely to show you!

Here’s a list of all of us in the blog hop this month …

I do hope you enjoy hopping through all the blogs and we’d love it if you would leave us a comment.

Saleabration – So Very Much

Good Evening!  I’ve got a super quick and easy card for you today using the Saleabration So Very Much Stamp Set.  This is such a cool stamp set and I love the big Thank You Stamp that you can use as the main sentiment or even as a background for your cards.

Recently, at my Latte Girls Gatherings, I’ve been asking my girls to volunteer to bring along a make n take to share with the team.  This has been great for the girls as it teaches them how to do kits plus they all get lots of different ideas.

This card today is one that the lovely Libby brought along …

This card is super quick and easy for anyone to do when you need a card in a hurry.   I love the use of Washi Tape to old the sentiment layer in place.

Then I got to thinking …. yes I know it’s bad for my health and I really do try not to if I can help it … what can I do to step this card up?

Then the wonderful enamel Shapes came to mind – but which to choose?

To work out which to use I pulled out my packs and laid each sheet over the card till I found some colours that would make the card pop. I chose So Saffron, Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo and Marina Mist and popped them randomly on my card …

They just make this card a little bit more special and super quick and easy to do – I even added in some Rhinestones to bling it up.  So just by adding a few embellishments gives this card a whole new look!  It’s also a great way to use up those sheets of Enamel Shapes or Basic Jewel Rhinestones that only have a few pieces left.

I love this So Very Much Set and you can get it for free with any order of $90 or more.

Freshly Brewed Projects with Lift me Up

Good Afternoon and welcome to another Freshly Brewed Projects with the Latte Girls Blog Hop and this week the theme is Hot Air Balloons so I’ve opted to use the Lift me Up bundle.

I am guilty for not using this set more.  It’s a great set with lots of framelits (14) in the coordinating Up & Away Framelit Pack.  The stamp set has 16 images so whether you buy it by itself or in the bundle it’s great value!

Now I have a wonderful friend who is also a Demonstrator and she promoted this week to Gold and since she doesnt have an upline I thought I’d make her a card to congratulate her and here’s what I made with this bundle …

She likes arty and eclectic so hope she likes this card.

Now I also want to share with you a little tip about using your stamps – especially when they are new.

During the manufacturing they spray or condition the plates they use before pressing the rubber.  Once the stamps are pressed they are cut and packed into their cases. I had the great privilege of visiting the Office at Kanab in Utah back in 2013 when I earned my first Incentive Trip – it was a wonderful day and one I wont forget in a long long time!

Now when you get your stamps there could still be some residue from the pressing process and this is why you should always ‘condition’ your stamps before using them for the first time.  Especially if they have a solid image but I just do this to all of them.

Why do this?  this is why ….

See the difference in the  two images?  You’ll get a much clear and stronger image once you’ve conditioned your stamps.

So how do you Condition your Stamps?  Simply get a sanding block – you want a fine one so it wont damage your stamps so one like the nail buffers you can get in Department stores & Pharmacies or if you have one of our old Sanding Blocks – they are perfect for this!   You simply sand the stamp till it looks smooth and all the same colour – it should only be a matter of 5-15 seconds depending on the size of your stamp.

Try it … ink up a new stamp and stamp it.  Then Condition your stamp and stamp it again. Works wonders doesnt it?

Now it’s time to hop on over to Libby’s blog to see what she’s created for you this week and then onto Narelle’s blog after that.

Big on Birthdays

It’s true … at Stampin’ Up! we are Big on Birthdays and since everyone has one I think you should be celebrated on your special day!

That is why, when I opened my Occasions Catalogue for the first time, I fell in love with this set …

There are lots of cool cards you can make with this set and when Janene held her party recently she asked for one from the catalogue as one of her make and takes …

This card is quite quick and easy to put together. The trickiest part was getting the Baker’s Twine to sit correctly but a strategically placed piece of Tear n Tape and a mini glue dot and wallah – perfect.

I have a new series of classes starting this Sunday.  Each month I’ll be running my Any Occasion Card Class and each month will have a different theme – this month (Sunday) is Birthdays so be sure to let me know if you’d like to come along.   You can find all the details for the class here and as part of the kit you’ll receive one of our gorgeous Gold Stripe Card Tins!
