Painted Easel

Posted by: Leonie | Comments (14)

Hello!!  Well I knew it had been a while since I’d posted but I had thought it was days rather than weeks! I am so sorry – we’ve had so much happening and I havent been 100% but now with super-charged meds I should be on the road to recovery – well lets hope so cos they cost $70!

Its Saturday so time for another Utah Divas International Sketch Challenge and another lovely sketch from the lovely Carol. I looked and looked at this sketch until I worked out what to do – I know its not a hard sketch but I wanted to do something a little different and this is what I came up with …

It suddenly dawned on me that I could do an Easel Card and I’d done one of these for Christmas but not for a general card and since I am now creating classes for Mother’s Day gifts I thought why not turn this into a Mother’s Day card!

It also happens to be my Mum’s birthday on 1st April so I can easily make this card into a lovely birthday card just by changing the sentiment!  Mum has always loved hydrangeas and has always had at least one plant of them in her garden if not a row of them! I am sure she’s had them at every house she’s lived in.

I love these Easel cards as they are so so so easy to make and when someone receives one they just ooo and aaah over them!

Now so you can see how they stand here is an image of the side view of the card when standing.

These cards flatten out for easy posting too – you might just have to include instructions on how to stand them up and show them off!

Now we are continuing with the Sketch round so now hop over to Lori’s blog to see what wonderful creation she has made this week.

Now my lovely husband has to go in for cataract surgery on Monday so I will be out at the hospital with him all day but will try to be back posting regularly again for you – I actually have some projects I havent posted yet so thats a good thing. If you dont mind please say a prayer for him (and me) on Monday.

Seeing Spots …. or is that Circles?

Posted by: Leonie | Comments (3)

Good morning everyone – I do hope you are well and not getting washed away with all this rain we are having in Sydney. We do need it and it is falling in the catchment areas so that’s a good thing as it means its going into our dams where we need it.

Thursday I shared with you two scrapbook layouts I made using the Circle Scissor Plus and at our SaleABration Spectacular I demonstrated using the Circle Scissor Plus and the different ways you can use it.

SweetCircles Today I want to share with you two cards I used as samples on the day.

This first card was done using the Sweet Always Designer Series Papers, coordinating cardstock and the A Kind Word and Always Stamp sets.

I showed the ladies just how easy it is to do frames with the Circle Scissor Plus without moving it. I’ve also thrown in a couple of our circle punches to show how well Stampin’ Up! products go together.

WindsorBoyBirthdayNot to let the boys out I even made a card for them!

This card uses the Windsor Knot Designer Series Papers, coordinating cardstock, and the All in the Family, On Your Birthday and the Calendar Alphabet & Numbers stamp sets.

I have layered the circles again for the main image and with the All in the Family stamp set its imperative you use the Stamp-a-ma-jig so all your images line up well.

I did try to not use it and my little girl (which is not shown here) ended up with fangs from the top of her dress! Not a good look for a little girls card – unless of course you’re doing a Twilight theme!!!

I am running classes this first term called “Tool Time” where I will highlight a tool and show you different ways of using your Stampin’ Up! tools. So many times we see them demonstrated and just ‘have’ to have it and then it get put on the shelf or in the cupboard to gather dust.

The first class will be on the Circle Scissor Plus and you will get to know this tool and make three projects using the Circle Scissor Plus.

Tool Time – Circle Scissor Plus

Date ~ 26th February, 2010
Time ~ 10.30am
Cost ~ $20.00
bookings essential

Party Sketch

Posted by: Leonie | Comments (6)

Well here we are at another Saturday – at least today I’m relaxing after last weekend’s Saleabration Spectacular! Now being Saturday its time for another Divas Sketch Challenge! dsc70

Here is this week’s sketch ….

Carol was very nice to let me have last weekend off now wasnt she?? but I’m back into the sketches again and not to let the side down I’ve changed it a little – but what more could you expect from me??

I really struggled with the “least favourite colours” though … I just couldn’t work out what to do as I just love Stampin’ Up!’s colours so I went with some that I don’t use as often and hopefully that will be ok (at least I noticed the ‘extra’ in this week’s challenge this time!)

DSC70

Here’s my card ….

Now not only did I use colours I don’t use often I also used a stamp set that hasn’t seen much ink!

Recipe:

Stamps: Party Hearty
Paper: Pacific Point, Gable Green, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White
Inks: Tangerine Tango, Pacific Point, Gable Green, Versamark
Accessories: Scallop Border Punch, Pacific Point Striped grosgrain ribbon.

I do hope you like my card and please be sure to check out the other creations by the Utah Divas International Sketch Challenge Team.

I stamped!!

Posted by: Leonie | Comments (7)

I have had a wonderful holiday visiting with family and catching up with old friends and doing quite a bit of travelling which I’ve enjoyed being out with the family. Hubby goes back to work on Monday and I’m now getting back into the swing of things with my first stamping of 2010!

Mind you I nearly missed this challenge as I didnt realise today was Saturday (duh me) hence the lateness of my post.  Hope you’ll forgive me.

If you are new to visiting my blog I participate as part of a weekly sketch team with the lovely ladies at Utah Divas International blog.  The Utah Divas International is a group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from all over the world getting together and supporting and encouraging each other. Its a great group to be a part of (more like family really) and if you are a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and interested in joining the group then email me and I’ll get an invite organised for you.

Now onto the sketch ….

The lovely Carol does our sketches each week and I’m continually amazed at all the different ones she comes up with and once you start working with a sketch then those cogs starts turning and you get so many ideas.

For today’s sketch I wanted to do something simple and it was then I remembered one of my best friends birthdays is this week so I went with a birthday theme.

I also wanted to show you how to step-up a simple card and make it just that little bit special.

So here’s my card for the sketch challenge ….

I’ve used the lovely new Wagon Full of Fun stamp set from the Summer Mini Catalogue. This is a great set as it has 10 stamps in it and 6 of these are images and 4 are sentiments.

Actually this card has used up a few of my scraps or offcuts. I’ve used a piece of patterned paper from the Kaleidescope Designer Series paper and I’ve then just used the colours in that piece for my cardstock colours being Pretty in Pink and Pumpkin Pie.

The cupcake is stamped in Jet Black Stazon onto Stampin’ Up!’s wonderful watercolor paper. I’ve then watercoloured the image using my trusty Aqua Painter and the classic ink pads. The Sentiment is stamped in Jet Black stazon but in two stampings as this sentiment is actually on one line.

The card is finished off with tying two pieces of ribbon around the centre – Pretty in Pink Taffeta and Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain.  Stampin Up! just make things so easy to coordinate!

Now the card is lovely as it is but since this card is for my good friend Karen I wanted to make it a little special. So I stamped the cupcake another two times so I could layer it a bit similar to paper tole. I’ve then also added some glitter to the icing and flame on the candle.

This image shows you the dimension in the card and also in the candle image. The candle image actually now how three layers – first on the main piece of watercolour paper which has the whole image there. Then the second layer is just the icing and the candle. The third and final layer is just the candle and the flame.

I’ve then gone around the swirls in the icing with my two way glue pen and then sprinkled the lovely dazzling diamonds over. Once the glue dries it is clear and it just looks like the glitter sticks to where I put the glue.

Here is the final card

I do hope you like my card – its a little hard to see the glitter when taking these photo’s but you can see it just a little bit.

Dont forget to popover to the Utah Divas International blog to see what the other ladies have created.

Flutter Drawers

Posted by: Leonie | Comments (5)

Hello Everyone!

I do hope you have had a wonderful Christmas and Boxing Day.  I am loving this cooler Victorian weather – I cant remember the last time I had to put a jumper on on Christmas Day! Actually I dont think I ever have before this year.

I thought I’d pop in today and share a little gift I made as one of my Secret Santa presents. I loved making this little project and love how it turned out.

This is the top of the box.

I’ve used the Tea Party Designer Series Papers on the top and then layered a scalloped circle in Regal Rose and a circle in Whisper White. I’ve cut the scalloped circle and circle using the Big Shot. The stamps here are all from Flight of the Butterfly and the awesome new Butterfly Punch from the new Summer Mini Catalogue.

I have found that when stamping with the Flight of the Butterfly Stamp set you ‘need’ a Stamp-a-ma-jig. The Stamp-a-ma-jig is one of those ‘must need’ tools and everyone really should have one.

Here is the box looking from the side showing a drawer and the ‘handle’ being one of the metal flower brads from the Spring Mini Catalogue.

Here you can see some of the drawers open and can get a better idea how it all goes together.

Once the box is completed you can then fill the little drawers with anything you like – for example I’ve put in some brads, buttons, flower fusion and flowers from the pretties kits.

You could also put in some little messages or notes of encouragement, some jewellry like a bracelet, earrings or a necklace.

I will be running this project as a class in February so please make sure you contact me and register for the class … more details will follow when I return from holidays.

Timely Sketch Challenge

Posted by: Leonie | Comments (7)

Time … well thats something that I dont have a lot of lately! DSC57

These past couple of weeks have been very busy for me and I’m grateful that after consulting my diary last night that I have a quiet week coming up. Maybe I’ll be able to find some time to do some Christmas Shopping or maybe I should just give everyone stamps??

Yesterday I attended Stampin’ Up! Regional Training in Sydney and I had the best time – I even managed to get all the make n takes made – the first time I’ve done this at a Stampin’ Up! event since joining. We used new stamps from the upcoming Summer Mini Catalogue and they are very cute to say the least and I’ll show you those projects during the next few days.

Here is this weeks sketch and here is my card …

DSC57I wanted to do a masculine card as I wanted a card to send my dad for his birthday.  Living over 1000 kilometres from my parents and sister make it hard to see them as often as I’d like so I like to make their cards a little more special.

I love the Sense of Time stamp set and havent used it as much as I’d like and I love collage stamping so I thought I’d combine the two for this Challenge. If you do like the Sense of Time stamp set then you’ll need to purchase it by the end of November as the Spring Mini Catalogue finishes  and this set will no longer be available after 30th November.

One of the requirements for this week’s sketch was to use window sheets but since we dont have them here in Australia I couldnt use them. Maybe we will get some in the Winter/Autumn Mini Catalogue due out in April 2010. I’ve seen lots of lovely things made with them and hope we get some too so we can play with them too!

This card has a few different techniques – Masking, Collage, Pastel (chalk) popping and sponging – all the things I love to do!

If you think you’d like a go at collage stamping then I would just love to show you how I do it so why not contact me for my Collage Class or Technique Class or I can come and do a demonstration for you and your friends. I guarantee you’ll all have a great time and enrich those friendships you already have.

Pretty Christmas Trees

Posted by: Leonie | Comments (8)

Can you believe it is just 2 months until Christmas?? Are you organised?? Now I think I’d better start getting organised cos two months just isn’t long enough!!

prettytrees

The card I’m showing you today is a case of  Tammy Mendiola who is on one of the Stampin’ Up! yahoogroups I’m on and as soon as I saw it I had to make it too – its so soft and pretty!

Recipe:

Stamps:  Season of Joy, Snow Swirled
Paper: Sage Shadow, Pretty in Pink, Going Gray, Whisper White
Inks: Sage Shadow, Pretty in Pink, Going Gray
Accessories: Pretty in Pink Grosgrain ribbon, White Organdy Ribbon (retired)

This card really is very simple and if you prefer the traditional Christmas Colours then you just need to substitute the ones used here.

Now I’m going to take this opportunity to let you know about a new service I’m offering -

The Stamp-A-Latte Gift Register

If youre anything like me you always do your own Christmas and Birthday shopping! I know its the only way we get what we want but it does have a downfall being that we always know what we are going to get! So with my Stamp A Latte Gift Register at least you can be surprised when you open your gifts!

How does it work?

Well you email or ring through your Stampin’ Up! Wishlist to me and I will keep it on file and you can add to it at any time.

Then when it comes to Christmas or your Birthday or any other celebration for that matter you get your Spouse, Partner, Friends, Family or Children to contact me and all they have to do is tell me how much they want to spend and arrange payment and I will order a selection off your Wishlist and have it wrapped and to you in time for you to put under the tree or for the person to give it to you!  So then all you have to do is wait for the day – well if you can!

Costs?

There are no extra costs to register your wishlist – the only other costs would be shipping & handling and postage if I have to post the package to you or the gift giver.

So email or ring me today with your Wishlist – dont forget that Christmas is only 60 days away and I will need approximately 14 days to place the order and get it to you in time.

Book of Days

Posted by: Leonie | Comments (6)

Last Friday I went to spend the day with my aunt as we share the same birthday – although she is a couple of years older than me ;)

I know she loves my cards so I always try to give her a gift that includes some of my cards and then it came to me to make her a Book of Days.

This is a great gift idea to give family to keep track of all those important occasions and as its a perpetual calendar/diary then they dont need a new one every year – just new cards!

It may take a few seconds for the slideshow start.

I’ve made this one using the gorgeous Tea Party Designer Series Papers and I think you’ll agree it makes a lovely gift. My aunt also thought so and while there she passed the Book of Days around to show her guests and they all now want to make one so not only did I make the right gift for my aunt but I also booked a couple of classes while I was there!

If you would like to book in for a class to make your very own Book of Days or maybe you’d like to learn how to make one so you can make some more for gifts for Christmas as it is less than 14 weeks away so it would be good for you to start on your gifts now.  Email or ring me today to set the date for your Book of Days class.

We had a great day and I came home to a mailbox full of birthday cards and I’ll share them tomorrow with you.

I do have to share something with you though.

Usually I do my own gift shopping for the different occasions and my birthday was no different. Hubby had said to ‘arrange’ my gift as usual which I did – he buys so well for me!!

Roses

Well he did surprise me when he came home from work with these roses – arent they beautiful? and yes I still have them and they still look gorgeous!!

Birthday Blessings!

Posted by: Leonie | Comments (8)

This week is it my birthday and I just love being part of the Stamping Community and Stampin’ Up!®

Since starting stamping some 10 years ago I’ve met some wonderful people and we’ve shared our joys and our trials over that time and many have become good friends. This can also be said about being part of the Stampin’ Up! family – so many demonstrators have become good friends as well as my wonderful customers!  This is just for local demonstrators and freinds either but for friends worldwide!

CarolJeffreyLast week I got my first birthday card from Carol and its a gorgeous card using the gorgeous Fifth Avenue floral.

Isnt it just stunning?

LoriWatsonUDIThe following day I received a lovely card from a fellow demonstrator in the USA!

This one is from Lori Watson who also shares my birthday! It was so sweet of her to send me a card all the way from Michigan!

She is obviously alot more organised than I as I only sent hers last week so I do hope it arrives in time!

Then this morning I received a very purty pink and purple box from my dear friend and fellow demonstrator Tanya Kitto.

Now Tanya is in Western Australia and there is a time difference of 2 hours – the parcel arrived at 8.45am my time so it wasnt even 7am at her house yet so I had to wait till she was online to say if I could open it or if I had to wait till friday!  I got a message from her just after 9am to say I could open it … talk about a kid at christmas! but who doesnt like to get surprises and presents?

TanyaKittoLook what was in the box! all secured with tissue paper, bubble wrap and LOTS of sticky tape!

Does this girl know me or what??

A gorgeous card using my absolute favourite papers – Parisian Breeze Specialty Designer Series Papers and a large coffee cup and saucer.

But wait ….. that’s not all!

Have a look inside the cup! TanyaKitto2

Yup my favouritest (yes that IS a word) chocolate – dove caramel chocolate and filled to the brim of the cup!

Tanya youre the best but when I put on all those kilo’s from that chocolate I’m sending it all to you!!

Thank you ladies for starting my birthday blessings off early and I’m so blessed to have you as friends!

Now off to introduce that coffee cup to my espresso machine!
