ESAD “New Catalogue” Blog Hop

How long has it been since I’ve done one of these??

The girls at ESAD are so excited for today’s Blog Hop as we are featuring our new Idea Book & Catalogue and not only is it a wonderful catalogue full of lots of new products and stamp sets but its a great Idea book as well with over 300 samples and ideas and now you will have 20 or so more demonstrators giving you yet more ideas through this Blog Hop.  Its an awesome purchase at just $12.95!  Now if you dont have your new Idea Book & Catalogue yet then please make sure you contact your Demonstrator today or feel free to contact me to organise your copy.

Now I know youre wondering …. What is ESAD?

ESAD stands for “Extra Special Australasian Demonstrators” and it is an on-line group just for Australian and New Zealand Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators.

We so love what we do and not only do we love to share it with our customers, friends, and wonderful blog visitors, but we share our love for what we do with each other as demonstrators. We run swaps, challenges, tutorials, product know-how, and cyberstamps, and we are always there to help and support each other when it is needed. So if you are a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator located in Australia or New Zealand, then please fee free to contact me to join our wonderful group on Facebook.

Now my first project today is a Scrapbook Layout … and yes you read that right!!  I know I dont do many of them but I’m hoping to do more in the future as I want to make some more pages to put in the Album I made for Mum & Dad’s 50th Wedding Anniversary for Dad to reminisce over.

Vintage Beau Chateau - Mum, Aged 2 1/2

This photo of Mum has been one of my favourites for many years and she gave it to me quite a while back. It was taken in 1935 and I’ve kept the original and had copies made for this project.

Here is a close up of the tag up the top. I wanted to show you the detail and the ribbons and antique brad – they are just divine together!

You can also see the background paper which is simply a sheet of Very Vanilla with the leafy motif stamp from Creative Elements stamped randomly in Pink Pirouette and then to give it a vintage feel I’ve just sponged in Soft Suede.

The two tags on the layout were made using pieces from the On Board Merry Medley Chipboard pack.  How neatly does the decorative label punch fit in the top one?  I simply used the tags as a template and traced around them in pencil onto the Beau Chateau DSP cut it out and stuck it on the chipboard and then just sanded around the edges to get off all the bits that went over the edge – mind you by the end of this procedure I could have done with a mini Dust Buster to clean up my desk!

I am sorry for the darkness of these photo’s as I find it really hard to get a good photo with the rainy day we had yesterday … I will try and get a better photo later today when its sunny. If anyone has tips on how to take a good photo of a scrapbook layout please feel free to contact me … as long as it doesnt involve spending a gazillion dollars on a new camera!

My Second Project for today is one I’ve been wanting to do for some time and now that I finally have that Milk Carton Die its become so much easier!!  Thanks to Stampin’ Up! for the birthday bonus they now give to Demonstrators as I managed to get this die at an extra 15% off!

BirdHouse

How sweet is this little Birdhouse??  Its just way too cute – well it must be as it got a ‘High Squeal Factor’ rating from Caitie!

I love this little Milk Carton Die and I am sure you are going to see many many more projects made using this!

Hey did you notice in the New Idea Book & Catalogue that we’ve had a price reduction on the Big Shot and many of its Dies & Folders??  Now thats also something to squeal about!

The Stamp set I used to decorate the box is called Best of Everything and it is seriously one very cute stamp set! I’ve been making samples this week for my Launch and I’m lovin everything I make with it – that little bird is just way too cute!!

Here’s a side view of the Birdhouse which shows the flowers growing all around it!

Did you notice the colours I’ve used?? They are all the new In Colours!! The Birdhouse itself is done in Pool Party, the flowers are in Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder and Island Indigo, the Tree on the front is in Lucky Limeade. Its all held together with a couple of strips of Sticky Strip and the little Library Clip at the top so the recipient can check the contents on the little birdhouse without have to rip it apart.

I was going to share a couple of the cards I’ve made this week but dont want to spoil the surprise for my Launch next Saturday however I might throw through a couple of spoilers during the week … so stay tuned!

Now you should have arrived here from the Blog of Debbie Lamb however if you didnt thats OK you can just keep going until you get to Debbie’s blog.

As a special thank you for all our beautiful visitors we have Blog Candy!!  We will have two prizes – one for a New Zealand visitor and one for an Australian visitor.  What you need to do to be eligible to win is to visit and comment on every blog in the hop – yes all 23 of them. Then you need to email Sharlene and advise her that you’ve completed the Blog Hop and give her your name, email and location.

Now the next blog you need to hop over to is none other than the very talented Tanya Bell … Tanya is such a lovely lady and uber-creative and I was blessed to sit with her at the Awards Night Dinner at Convention in May.

Now if you happen to get lost along the way or one of the links doesnt work here’s a list of all 23 Participants …

I hope you enjoy viewing all the gorgeous creations and if you have any questions or would like to book a workshop with me please feel free to contact me!

Chicks n Chocolate Workshop

Who doesnt like getting together with a few of our friends and having a wonderful time stamping? Is there anything better?  well yes there is – when you add chocolate to the workshop!!

Recently I did a Chicks and Chocolate Workshop for the lovely Mel and we had a ball!

What is a Chicks n Chocolate Workshop??

well its simply a regular workshop where you provide the chicks and I provide the chocolate!!

I enlist the help of my daughter Caitlyn who makes the best Chocolate treats around and she made the nicest Chocolate Fudge cake. I’ve even went as far as to design ‘chocolate’ themed make n takes and here is the card we all made ..

This card looks good enough to eat does it not?? I think it looks a little like those chocolate sandwich biscuits or the ice creams – either way I’m putting on kilo’s just thinking about them!

With the card above I’ve used the Polka Dot folder and the ‘dots’ are upward like I’d normally use them however I tried something different and did another card the same but with the dots going in and it really does look like those chocolate biscuits – not sure if you can see the difference here between the two photo’s …. here’s a pic of the second card with the ‘inny’ dots ..

Now our second make n take for the workshop was a chocolate/candy bar wrap – we all love presents that come in pretty wrapping dont we?  Here is the chocolate bar all wrapped up ..

I’ve simply wrapped a piece of Designer Series Paper around the chocolate bar and made sure there was enough at the ends to crimp.  I’ve then popped a belly band around it and jazzed it up with a piece cut using the Tasteful Trim Bigz XL die and a piece of Vanilla Satin ribbon – our Satin ribbon immediately adds style and elegance to any project!

The Stamp Set I’ve used for both projects is the delectable Eat Chocolate Stamp Set in the Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue.

Now remember the Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue finishes at the end of July so if there is anything you need out of there then you will need to order it before the end of next week.  So make sure you grab your copy and have a final flick through to ensure you havent missed anything you need like the Strength & Hope Stamp Set where Stampin’ Up! are donating $2 to Breast Cancer research for each set sold or those gorgeous Lunch Sacks!

Dont forget when you spend $100 you will also recieve the gorgeous Ice Cream Parlour Buttons & Ribbon bundle for free – thats worth over $30!!

If you dont have your own  copy or cant find it just click on the catalogue in my sidebar or below …

Would you like to host your own Chicks and Chocolate Workshop?

Then contact me today to arrange your party pack and book in your date!

Scalloped Chocolate Baskets

Well today is the day I fly down to Melbourne for the 2011 Stampin’ Up! Convention … you had no idea it was on right?? lol

My plane flew out at 12.30pm and we should have landed around 2pm and then we were heading off to our Hotel in Spencer Street.

Tonight we have our ESAD Pre-Convention Dinner where 34 of the members of ESAD (plus a couple of husbands and bubs) will meet for dinner and a little Convention Swapping.  It is going to be so much fun and so loud – lets hope the restaurant doesnt kick us out!

For the dinner I made a special 3d item which I first saw when visiting the lovely Linda Higgins with the lovely Melissa Garland over Easter.

How cute are these little baskets ….

How cute are these little baskets and they are super easy to make – you just have to get the score lines in the right place! Yes I did fluff a couple of them up in the process.

I thought these would be an extra special treat for my lovely ESAD members and a little thank you for supporting and being part of the ESAD group.

These little baskets are the perfect size for a little treat like a mini/treat size chocolate bars like mars bar or picnic and I should have enough for all attending the dinner -

I have even kept a couple aside to give to Pam Morgan & Shelli Gardner as they always love to receive swaps as well and who doesnt like chocolate?

Pop back Friday to see my card swaps I made.

My Garden Journal

Well good morning to you!

How is it that when Autumn hits the weather immediately drops in temperatures?? Dont get me wrong – I love Autumn and all the colours it brings – actually I’m driving down to Robertson today for a Workshop so I’ll have to leave a little early and take my camera to show you just how beautiful the Aussie colours of Autumn are :0)

Welcome to the ESAD Autumn/Winter Mini Blog hop!  Now this will be a long post so if you dont already have one go make yourself a cuppa and grab some tim tams to keep your energy levels up!

You should have come from the blog of the very talented and lovely Clare McIlhatton – she does the most amazing things with punches – she’s such a crafty cow!! If you have started here then dont stress just keep going till you get back here.  Now dont forget to leave comments on each of the posts cos we all love comments

So just what is ESAD?

ESAD stands for Extra Special Australasian Demonstrators and it is an online group just for Australian and New Zealand demonstrators for Stampin’ Up!®

We just love what we do and not only do we love to share it with our customers, friends, and wonderful blog visitors but we share our love for what we do with each other as Demonstrators. We run swaps, challenges, tutorials, product know how and cyberstamps and we are always there to help and support each other when its needed.

So if you are a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator located in Australia or New Zealand then please feel free to click here to join our wonderful group. We have all sorts of things happening from online discussions to swaps, challenges, cyberstamps and real time chat!

Now onto my project ….

When I opened the Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue I just about fell inlove with everything inside and then it dawned on me – mmm this is going to be expensive!!

I just love the Nature Walk Stamp Set and Botanical Gazette Designer Series Paper and since I’ve been watching the old series of Jamie Oliver’s shows and I just love the garden journal he features in one of them that I thought these products would be awesome to make my own Garden Journal.

Journal Cover

I’ve used the 5×5 Art Journal and just covered it with the Botanical Gazette Designer Series paper. I’ve used the Timeless Type Alphabet Junior dies with the Big Shot for the title on the cover and inside. The two leaves are from the French Foliage Stamp Set which is also available from the Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue.

Inside the front cover we have a page for an index and then my title page again using the Timeless Type Alphabet Junior Dies and the Big Shot and also using the French Foliage Stamp Set. If you want a closer look at the images just click on them to enlarge them – you can even watch a slideshow of the images. I love this French Foliage set!

January

I have used a double page spread for each month. On the left page it has details of the things that you should be doing in the garden each month whether it be pruning, fertilizing, planting or whatever.

February

I’ve just stamped down the edge of the right page and have purposely left them blank for now as I plan to take photo’s as my garden progresses over the next 12 months.

March

April

May

June

One day I will learn to write straight!

July

August

September

October

November

December

After doing each month I’ve then allowed some pages for my own notes and ideas ….

Notes

Notes

I do hope you like what I’ve done – when the original idea came to me I really didnt realise just how involved it would turn out to be! However, in saying that, I’m very pleased with the end result.

Since this mini catalogue goes until the end of July we have plenty of time to spread out our purchases and share projects and ideas at workshops so if after today’s hop you’d like to see more of the products in action please dont hesitate to give me a call and book in your workshop.

Now its time for you to pop along to the next blog in this ESAD Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue which is the very lovely Kim Conway from Victoria.

Here’s a list of all those involved in the ESAD Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue just incase a link isnt working …

Enjoy the ESAD Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue Blog Hop and dont forget to leave some comment lurrrv!

Sweet & Sour Friends

How apt is this blog title?? I was trying to think of a name for this layout and as the layout contains photo’s of my girls its so true that they are friends and sometimes they are sweet to each other but then there are those rather sour times!

I had a workshop a couple of weeks ago for Aimee and she wanted to do a scrapbook layout and as Aimee is 14 or 15 I thought I’d need to make it a bit bright and it was also the perfect opportunity to play with my butterfly dies!

So after grabbing my Sweet and Sour Specialty Designer Series Paper and my butterfly dies and with a little help from a sketch by Valerie Salmon at Got Sketch this is what I came up with …

Once I’d measured out the size the strips had to be it was rather quick and easy to put together. Mind you I think I need to take more photo’s of the girls (whether they like it or not) as I’m running out and most of them are a couple years old.  I was pretty impressed that when I’d finished Caitlyn raved how much she liked it and she hates the colour orange so that had to be a good thing – Aimee and her friends loved it too!

Now I know you cant see the layout too well but if you click on the image a larger one will open to give you a better view :)

How cool are the Stampin’ Up! Beautiful Wings and Beautiful Butterflies dies?? I just love playing with these and must say my Beautiful Wings Embosslits die has had a bit of a workout of late!

The bottom butterfly uses 2 butterflies from the Beautiful Butterflies die and the larger butterfly from the Beautiful Wings die and this one works so well with vellum.

Now as you know that sticking vellum down can be tricky as you can see the adhesive below – well this one I used just a bit of snail in the middle and then applied the rhinestones to cover the adhesive below – perfect!

This image you can see the dimension of the butterflies stuck together.

Now if you wanted to you could apply this layout to a canvas or pop it in a shadow box frame so you could keep the wings up on your butterfly.  I have mine in my album and it still looks good and can see the three layers – they are just lying flat.

Now the butterfly in the top right corner again is one from each die – the smaller one from the Beautiful Butterflies and the larger one from the Beautiful Wings Embosslit.

I have again used snail to stick them together and just applied the rhinestones to cover the adhesive showing through.

This is the layout that we will be creating at the Tween Scrap class during the school holidays on 21st April.  So if you are free or your daughter is free and would like to create this layout then please contact me to book your spot. Class will be $15 and if you spend $30 at the class you’ll get $5 back from the class fee!

If you cant make the class and would love to make this layout well you can purchase the kit with full instructions for just $10 plus postage.  If you wish to purchase the kit then please email me your mailing details and I will send you details on how to pay.

The Tween Scrap Class will be the first of my monthly Scrap Classes so if you’d like to attend those then please let me know – if I have enough participants I may just start a Scrap Club.  This will run similar to a Stamp Club where we will meet every month and each participant will agree to a minimum monthly spend and each month one participant will be the ‘hostess’ and receive the hostess benefits. I will also offer kits & instructions for each monthly Scrap Class.

Easter Gift Class

With the new year (yeah I know we are now in March) I have decided to run more classes from my home – you can find all my upcoming events by clicking on my Demonstrator Website picture over on the right or by clicking on “Events” in the menu above.

Each month I’ll be holding two ‘gift’ classes – one will be themed (this month its Easter) and the other will be just a general Gift class where you will make a gift item.

The idea of these classes is that you will have a themed gift for a special day or holiday and the general gift class is so that by the time Christmas comes around you should have 9 or 10 gifts ready to go and therefore saving you a little stress at the peak of the ‘silly season’ or you can choose to use it for someone’s birthday or a ‘just because’ gift.

Should you not be able to attend  I will make available the instructions and kits for you to purchase.  However if you are local and just cant make it on the day let me know and I’ll schedule a 2nd class if I get the numbers.

Easter Gift Class

This class will be held at my house on 25th March at 10.30am and here is what we’ll be making ….

How cool would it be to not have to go and buy all those little gift bags and such that add so much money to what we spend at Easter.

In this class you’ll make

  • Treat Basket (two are shown here in the picture one using Sweet and Sour Specialty DSP and the other smaller one in Blueberry Crisp DSP)
  • Bronwen’s gorgeous little Egg basket
  • My little Lop Bunny Box

Here’s a closer view ….

These are the two Treat Baskets I’ve made – you will be making the smaller one. Looks can be decieving as they hold so many eggs!  You will get instructions for both sizes to recreate at home

This is a gorgeous little egg basket designed by my lovely friend Bronwen Cornish who so graciously shared the project with me.  Yes I’ll teach you how to make those roses – they are divine and easy to do!

Last but not least  …..

This is my little Lop Bunny Box – isnt she just cute and she’s made using our punches! I thought the Lop was a nice alternative to the regular Easter Bunnies that are made this time of year.

Class Details

Date:  25th March, 2011
Time:  10.30am
Cost:  $20 (deposit of $10 payable on booking)

Places are limited so please book your spot today so you dont miss out!

Be sure to pop back tomorrow to see this month’s ‘Gift Class’ details.

Owl its cute!

Yesterday I showed one of the make n take’s for Janene’s workshop last month well today I want to share one of the items I demonstrated and then gave the hostess as a ‘Thank You’ gift.

Whenever I do a Workshop I always give whatever I make at the demonstration to the Hostess and I havent met a Hostess yet that doesnt like that idea!

I wanted to show how versatile the little Sale•A•Bration Punch Bunch set was so I made a little gift set.  I had seen the thank you cards Dawn Griffiths was making for her orders for February and thought they’d be perfect!

How cute is this little set?

Very quick and easy to do with just one Sale•A•Bration stamp set and a couple of punches!

These can be done using the lovely little 3×3 cards – you can cut 6 from one sheet of A4 or 8 from a piece of 12×12! You can also purchase envelopes the perfect size for these little cards and you get 40 in a pack for just $11.95 – bargain!

The little bag was made using the Scallped envelope die in  the Big Shot machine – that die is just so versatile everyone should have one!

The sentiments on the cards come from the So Happy for You Sale•A•Bration stamp set.

How would you like to receive lovely little gifts like this? Well contact me today to book in your workshop and I’ll make this for you too or something similar! Workshops are fun and free and I’d love to come and share some stamping fun with you and your friends.

If you are new to stamping and want to learn more (and who doesnt?) then I have the “Lets Start Stamping” class this Wednesday (9th March) so ring me today and book your spot – all my upcoming classes are on my events calender so click on the “Events” tab up the top or click here

If you havent subscribed to my newsletter please feel free to do so as I include special offers to subscribers. This month’s being a 10% discount on all orders via email or telephone so now you can get more for your money. So if there is something you’d like and have been waiting for a special then now is the time!  You still only need to spend $100 value to earn a Sale•A•Bration set and it will only cost you $90! Baby Shower Invitations

I hope you all had a lovely Valentine’s Day yesterday and you were blessed with lovely little gifts. I received a lovely bunch of flowers and some caramel truffles … mmmmm.

A couple of weeks ago I was asked to make up some baby shower invitations as my cousin is hosting a Baby Shower for one of her friends who is having twins.  The only stipulation I was given was ‘butterflies and pink’ and how could you go wrong with that combination??

Here is what I made …

I simply printed the details onto the Stampin’ Up! Vellum cardstock and then just layered Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink and the Vellum. The little butterflies from Flight of the Butterfly are stamped onto the Pretty In Pink layer in Melon Mambo and once assembled I just cut out the butterflies from the Beautiful Wings Sizzlet die and popped them on.

The butterflies on top are meant to signify the Mum and the twin girls.

I do hope they like them.
